The new NMM has ruined my experience and all the duplicate random files are causing my NMM to crash..... When are you guys going to fix this mess? I do think that you guys are wonderful for giving us the NMM to begin with I am grateful for it......

Try deleting from the uncategorised view, that works under 44.1 (I can't delete only from the categorized view, it still freezes, but can from uncategorized).

I had the same duplicates mess with .44, the dups were "uninstalled" and the originals showed as being installed ONLY if they didn't have a readme. Installed the 44.1 hotfix which then showed both duplicates AND the originally installed mods as being uninstalled. Odd thing, this was visual only, not actual, as my game played as normal even though the NMM screens showed no mods installed (the plugins list wasn't touched).

Solution was to delete the duplicates (AFTER exporting the load order which was not affected), reinstall each mod individually (in order, which had to be done with help from modders descriptions/readme's as my memory is fallible) then reimport the load order.

Tedious yes, but the only damage done was to lose the original install date of the mods, the rest appears to be just that NMM presented erroneous screens from what was actually going on. At least for my setup. I run about 100 mods.

I did this and it worked so I posted it on the bug reports forum:

If you are having issues with 44.1. uninstall it and use this link to install 43.2:

http://forums.nexusm...-release-notes/

It says 44.1 but it's not.

I had issues concerning my mod directory and found that they were being directed to the wrong folders.

Make sure that after NMM scans your games and asks you where you would like to store your mods and info that you redirect it to:

games\skyrim\mods and games\skyrim\info

( It will want it to go to games\nexuesmodmanager\skyrim\mods & info)

This should at least solve some problems. My NMM works now.

Thanks to Herbacious and zion6 for the info. I am reposting this in a new topic so that people might have both solutions.

edit: This also cleared up a problem I was having with 43.2 as well, must have been caused by the same thing. Hope this helps

be careful with 43.2 version too. it had a problem for myself and quite a few others where it wasn't restoring overwritten files...

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/tracker/issue-7359-overrides-not-been-restored-after-uninstalling-a-mod/

basically you install new mod A over top of your normal stuff. don't like mod A so you uninstall. except the uninstall also removes all the stuff mod A had overwritten. simply reinstalling you old mods wasn't always enough, especially if you had "layers" over overwrites, where they'd been overwritten a few times before. you needed to use a backup that you hopefully made. this problem is even mentioned as fixed in the 44 readme (it appears to be fixed). that problem was pretty insidious because u might not notice it even happened for awhile. was best to compare your files to backups, again, that you had hopefully made recently.

that problem, IMO, totally defeated the purpose of a manager, so i'm just glad it's fixed. i can live with the newest versions's problems lol

Thank god for the workaround. I freaked when I saw what the new version did. I was in the middle of installing a new mod and the thing just went away. Refused to install the mod and wouldn't tell me where the files went.

Had to change the mod directory but that was no big deal. At least I knew where it was before the wonderful update.

Note to self. Always say no until you read what it does.

Sigh, I'm just a clown in this three ring circus that we call life, jumping through the hoops as there tossed my direction. If I have learned anything, it's to come hear and see whats going on before I update from now on, just wanted to get my hour of play time in before bed. Oh well, guess the ol lady will get some extra snuggle time so she will be happy, witch leads to me being happy.

Guess I will be back tomorrow knight to see if there's a fix or not. Thanks for all the hard work, you win some you lose some.
