megageeklizzy
I can give some advice. It's been about a year since I built mine, but a quick google search or two can get me up to speed. Are you looking into a laptop or desktop? How much money do you plan to spend? What parts do you have already?
starfis
so whats the progress on this little project now?Half-Life 3if you know what I mean No, there's progress. I've been slowly transferring stuff to get it ready for my new PC and to finally get rid of the old shitty one. So it is more like Duke Nukem Forever? I still believe HL3 exists btw. Boombro
I don't think HL3 is canceled. they never said it was. But it the most hyped thing since that guy who discovered dinosaurs with preserved skin. So now, they can't JUST make the thing.

Voldearag
I know helpful stuff. Here's a general pretty build, Drohung.$230 Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130841$390 Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117402$135 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231873$12 Thermal paste: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007 -Lowest amount of RAM sold in this size this speed and this color. I know the motherboard's native RAM speed is lower, but it's an overclocking board, I'm pretty sure this'll run colder than a lower speed RAM overclocked to the same speed. -Unless your old processor cooler is compatible with lots of sockets you'll need to buy an LGA2011 cooler too. If you don't already have one that'll fit here's one. $70 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835709011&Tpk=N82E16835709011 It's a matching black color and logicalincrements.com says it fits this motherboard. -I left out a video card because you can use your previous card on the new board, don't need to upgrade everything at the same time. But if you ever plan on using two video cards a la SLI\Crossfire then you should buy this processor instead of the one I first suggested. $585 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117403 Has more magic lanes, allows for x16x16 speed instead of x8x8, but if you only plan to use one video card then that first $390 processor is just fine. -Didn't suggest a case because like the video card you can just use your old case, unless your last computer was a weird small proprietary ATX thingy, but case options are all up to personal preference anyways. -Newegg is going to add something like $100 in tax. Sorry, I don't know why.
Dardranac
Here's a general pretty build. Here's my console killer.http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PW24f7 Plenty of power for 1080p editing and gaming at 60fps. For something with more horsepower, skylake CPUs are coming out pretty cheap, they are also faster or as fast as the 4790k stock clock. i5s are the best for games, i7 if you require more performance for things like editing. You can go last gen lga 1150 for DDR3 ram which is a lot cheaper and doesn't impact performance much if at all. The first build has a Pentium, it's a very good CPU and if you're into overclocking you can match the performance of the i7-4790k. As for GPU, it depends on what resolution you want to play at. The GTX 950 and 960 are very good value for 1080p gaming, but I'd wait before getting a new gpu since the new models are just around the corner and will have better DX12 support when or if DX12 actually catches on with developers. PCI 1x16 is all you need for one card, if you decide to expand to SLI rest assured that 2x8 PCI vs both at x16 has VERY minimal impact on performance. Anyways the point is no one will know what to recommend Drohung if there's no budget stated because this can be as cheap or expensive as he wants it to be without some sort of base to work off of. EDIT:Here's a Skylake i5 build without a GPU.http://pcpartpicker.com/p/GDCXrH Edited September 7, 2015 by Dardranac
Boombro
It may be a good idea to get a a new pc case, one with good cooling and noise redaction.

Voldearag
Also Drohung, I don't expect you to just choose everything we think is cool, but I hope you run the hardware you're buying past us before buying it so we can bring up possible cons you may not have considered. Computer people love helping people with computers, it's just freaking fun. Maybe you're one too though, I dunno.
