Dutchygamer
As the title says, I've been busy migrating to a new PC. I have a mod list for Fallout 4, and I want to keep it without having to redownload the mods, nor having to redo the mod load order. While my initial plan was to keep both Vortex and Fallout 4 on the same drives (E:), due to disk capacity issues I had to install Fallout 4 in a different drive (D:).Now here comes my problem:- Keeping the staging folder on E: to keep Vortex happy means the deployment to Fallout 4 can't be done, as it is on a different drive- Putting the staging folder on the same drive as Fallout 4 (D:) means Vortex' config breaks, resulting in every mod being marked as a manual mod, and losing every setting and mod list order My question: is there a way to tell Vortex that it should use the new staging folder on the D: drive, without breaking the entire mod list? I am hoping that with some clever .ini or config editing this issue can be resolved, but maybe I am being too optimistic here.I still have my old PC and Vortex installation available, and if push comes to shove I can always redownload the mods again and fix the load order by comparing it to my old setup. However, I prefer if it didn't have to come to this.
dizietemblesssma
if you knew what format the Vortex database files were in AppData, perhaps you could edit them to reflect the location, but I can't help you since I don't know that information. Maybe someone else does? diziet
HadToRegister
First PURGE your Mods, so that when you move/copy everything over you don't turn the Hardlinks into actual Files (because Windows does that for some reason)Copy over your DOWNLOADS folder, and copy over your C:\users\YOURNAME\appdata\roaming\Vortex folder to the same placeNext, install your games (Preferably in the same spot on your new computer)Open Vortex, and have it find your old download folder (If you put it on the same drive and everything as your old installation, then there should be no problem)Next open SETTINGS----->MODS and create a NEW and EMPTY Mod Staging Folder, preferably named the same thing as before.Copy the CONTENTS of your old mod staging folder (the folders and files in the old folder, not the Mod Staging folder itself) to your new mod staging folder, Provided that Vortex was happy with making the new Mod Staging folder on the new computer. Now, once everything is set up, such as you setting the install path to your game using Vortex, hopefully you should be able to DEPLOY and everything will work fine.If not, then you're where you would've been by having to start over because the Mod Staging Folder is on a different drive than the originalThe All important step to this is Step ONE PURGE THE MODS FIRST, because that will sever the Hardlinks, so that Vortex will be more willing to Deploy the Mods with a new Mod Staging Folder location. I assume the only option remaining is to redownload all mods from Nexus again and then apply any changes / load orders I had on my old PC?EDIT:Okay, it seems Vortex only sees the mods as uninstalled; when I install them it gets them from the downloads folder. Does this mean that re-installing the mods I had active for this mod list does the trick?
HadToRegister
All of your Downloaded mods are in the Vortex DOWNLOAD directory.Just copy them over to the new PC to the Download Directory you made thereDID you PURGE, not Uninstall? And are you RE-DEPLOYING, and NOT Installing?Did you copy the C:\users\YOUR NAME\Appdata\roaming\Vortex folder over to your new PC? Dutchygamer
Alright, so eventually I hooked up my old PC again, opened Vortex on both, and manually walked through the used mods, which mods must be loaded after other mods, etc etc. Took me an hour or two, but thanks to the Download folder being mostly intact (missed only 1 mod) it saved me having to redownload everything. I then was able to load my savegame without issues, so I think I did everything correctly :) Word of advice: keep a list of your mods, where you also keep track of what you choose during installation, and what loads should load after others. Can save you a lot of time in these kind of situations.

Dutchygamer
A final question: I see a 'Mark solved' button. If I have no further questions related to this, should I use that button? I'm not that familiar with the rules here.
