Elitex62
Hello everyone. As the title says, Vortex freezes the moment everything loads. I can move the window, but that's about it. I'm running the latest version and even after uninstalling, I still have this problem. Before you ask me how many mods I have, I have no idea since I can't pull up the list, but I'd say about 50. I am running Windows 10, 64 bit, with 24 gb of ram. Below is a screenshot of the window I keep freezing on, just in case if I'm not being clear. Thanks in advance.Edit: After leaving it on in the background, it's no longer frozen. It wasn't a quick 5 minutes, though, so I would hate to do that again. Any ideas what could be causing this? HadToRegister
How did you install those 50 mods, if Vortex keeps freezing?Did you install the mods with Vortex and NOW Vortex is freezing, or?
Elitex62
All of them were installed with vortex. Most were from the nexus, though a few were not found there.
Pickysaurus
Do you have any Vortex extensions installed? I've seen this once or twice with my Discord Rich Presence extension. I suspect some kind of security software is blocking the connection between Vortex and Discord.
fragball
i just had the same problem with vortex freezing - specifically yesterdays already where the message came that some 'mod' where corruped but the name in question was pointing to a part of vortex itself, not a mod. then, i simply kicked the process out and restarted vortex to run my game and it worked fine. now, when i just started vortex i said that vortex itself was corrupted... a simple re-installation solved that issue - though i had to use an older version first and then updated to the recent one from within vortex because nexus took the download off (or put it to 'hidden') because some internal nonsene...so best try a reinstallation if you have any version of it still around and update from vortex after that. if that fails, you might need to do a clean installation of it (removing the old installation first - but save your mods before that somewhere else, least you might have re-download them) and config the whole thing anew... if some mods were cause of the problem, you might want to go slowly on activating them (by only ever doing some of them and then check if everthing works - that means also by starting vortex everytime... a bit of a pita with more than 50 mods running, that'S for sure).if the program hangs and you can't even use the task manager to kill the process, try this little trick (that works for every process stucked btw): use the windows 10 combi of WIN+TAB and then chose a new desktop from where you can open the task-manager to kill the process that blocks the other desktop - a good why to kill full-screen apps that you can't end otherwise without powering down. Captainradish
I'm having the same thing happen. The funny thing was it was all of a sudden. I started getting back into Skyrim SE modding, I installed my 200-ish mods, then the next time I opened Vortex it utterly stopped responding. It will close, but that's it. It's highly annoying and I have no idea why it's having problems all of a sudden. Just a while ago I let it just sit to see if it would ever come to life. It didn't. Eventually it apparently closed on its own without me noticing. EDIT: just to clarify, I've used Vortex for years and have been running it just fine for Fallout 4 and X4 for some months now. It's not until just today that I've seen any problems. Wrye Bash shows no problems with my load order, so I have a hard time believing it's some kind of corrupted mod install.
