Ravhan
So I recently got Skyrim SE. I downloaded all the mods I wanted for now that are SE versions, and set them up on Vortex. Now, Skyrim SE is located in e:\Games\Steam Games\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition so, naturally, the Vortex mods must be on the same drive as it told me, so I set the mods staging folder to e:\Vortex\Skyrim SE Mods and then installed them from the files I downloaded. Suddenly, a few of them stopped working and when I investigate, I find that Vortex says the mods folder is in the Skyrim SE data directory, namely, e:\Games\Steam Games\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data. The staging folder is clearly not the Skyrim SE data folder, but nevertheless, my mods aren't working and Vortex keeps looking IN the Skyrim SE data folder. Here's what really hacks me off; Vortex is looking inside the game directory for the mods, but won't allow me to put the mods staging folder in the directory it's looking for or set the staging folder to the one it's looking in. So what the actual fudge is this and how the Hell do I fix it?
HadToRegister
You should make your Mod Staging Folder directory like thisE:\Vortex Mods\{game}(or just E:\Mods\{game}Not, E:\Vortex\Skyrim SE\Mods\The point of making the folder E:\Mods\{game} named just like that, is that Vortex will see {game} and automatically create the game folder skyrimse, so you will end up with E:\mods\skyrimse\ and set it up properly like that
Tannin42
Staging folder and game mod folder are different, that is how it's supposed to work. None of what you described is wrong or unexpected or needs to be fixed. When you get a mod the path in Vortex is Internet --- download ---> Vortex Download Folder --- install ---> Vortex Staging Folder --- deploy ---> Game Data directory The extra step (deploy) is necessary because for many operations (changing profiles for example) we need to repeat the deploy step but wouldn't want to repeat the entire mod installation, also it makes other operations (removing mods) less error prone. Ravhan
Okay, so riddle me this. I've reinstalled Vortex, reset the staging folder a different directory, installed my mods. The ONLY one that doesn't appear to be working is the first person camera fix that can be found here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/28091?tab=description It's supposed to set the eye level in first person at eye level, and when you look downwards you can see your body, etc.It WAS working earlier, but no longer. It just seemed to stop working while I was playing and nothing I do seems to fix it.
Guest deleted34304850
riddle me this - why are you asking about a mod working/not working in the forum for vortex?that can surely be better answered by asking the mod author?
Ravhan
riddle me this - why are you asking about a mod working/not working in the forum for vortex?that can surely be better answered by asking the mod author?I got told by the mod author that "not working" isn't a bug or a very good description and that I shouldn't approach a mod author for help with the mod. Since the mod doesn't appear to do anything at all I think "not working" is a pretty accurate description of the problem, and I still went into more detail and, as you say, when nobody else seems to have a clue, why shouldn't I go to the mod author? Seems like going to the source is a good idea.
Guest deleted34304850
this is the vortex support forum. you're posting about a mod in the wrong place.if the mod author tells you "not working" isn't a good description, try being a bit more verbose. Ravhan
this is the vortex support forum. you're posting about a mod in the wrong place.if the mod author tells you "not working" isn't a good description, try being a bit more verbose.I know where I am. I'm asking here because it occurs to me I might have done something wrong with the install via Vortex... can't imagine what since I've installed other mods exactly the same way and they all work. Also, I don't know how else to describe the problem. "Not working" and "Doesn't do Anything" seem to mean exactly the same thing really. The problem is that the mod, installed correctly (to the best of my knowledge) just doesn't do anything. I don't know how else to put it; I explained in the message that I've confirmed all the files are installed and in the Skyrim SE/Data and Skyrim SE/Data/Scripts directories, and that SKSE is correctly installed and running, but the mod just doesn't do anything. So while y'all are quibbling with me over minutia, I'm no closer to solving the problem. If you have no idea on what the problem could be, I'd rather you just said that instead of doing what you're doing which, I get the sense, is that you're trying to make me out to be a fool, and it's not appreciated or even warranted. It's so bizarre! I'm no expert but there doesn't seem to be a reason for it not working at this point.
Pickysaurus
Considering that mod hasn't been updated since 2019, it's safe to say it doesn't work with the latest game version.
