GrubbyGame
Is it possible to delete and disable the modarchive vortex is creating, while still keeping all the mods that are deploeyd in the game directiory?Or using a different method where it is NOT creating an archive. I see duplicate mod files across both, 'D:\Vortex Mods\game' and the games directory??? Currently the mod archive is taking up 25GB! for a single game. Pickysaurus
Archives are the files you've downloads from the website. You can manually delete them all from the downloads folder or do Ctrl+A and choose "Remove" but ONLY check the "Delete Archive" box. Just be aware, if you need to reinstall the mod you'll need to download it again. You can move your entire downloads folder to anywhere on your PC in Settings -> Download -> Download folder. Vortex uses links to show the mods from your staging folder in the game folder. There are not two copies, but some software can't distinguish between a link and actual file, so it shows up as double space. If you click purge in Vortex then check your HDD space that will give you a more accurate figure. When you deploy again it will go back up but that's a false positive. HadToRegister
Interesting.. thx for the help Also for the record, the Mods in the Mod Staging Folder that appear in the Game folder are NOT taking up twice the space, Windows reports Hardlinks and Symlinks as using up space as well, when in reality,. only ONE instance of the installed mod exists. People think that Mod Archive (zip, rar, 7z) takes up space (This is true) Mod Archive extracted to it's own folder in Mod STaging Folder takes up space (this is true) Mod installed in the game folder takes up space (This is FALSE, unless you have MOVE Deployment set) So, for example Mod archive 5 gigs of space Extracted Mod archive in Mod STaging Folder 7 gigs of space Extracted Mod in game folder 0 gigs of space = total 12 gigs of space, and NOT 19 gigs of space as Windows reports incorrectly. AugustaCalidia
To reassure oneself that Windows is not doubling the space allocation for hardlink deployed mods, in File Explorer simply check total space utilized for the entire HDD. The allocation remains the same whether mods are deployed or purged.
