  1. This could also be said of Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.
  2. No...it's the truth Opinion and truth are subjective. Opinion, yes. Truth, kind of; there's the factual truth, which is pretty much indisputable, and also the truth that people believe, which is definitely subjective, but even then, you could classify the latter as actually a belief, and therefore an opinion and not a truth, so technically speaking, Truth isn't really subjective. Sorry. I was referring more to attitudes like: "I typed my opinion in a gaming forum, therefore it is the indisputable truth".
  3. No...it's the truth Opinion and truth are subjective.
  4. Indeed. It's all a matter of personal preference and it's a single player-game. Do what you want and don't worry about what others are doing. Why debate it in a forum?
  5. Yeah, I think I stopped frequenting the thread about the time you started. My loss there; you have talent.
  6. But Xena's weapon was a big hole... What? http://www.merpup.com/merpups/shrine/interviews/xena_sword.jpg
  7. I'm still around, but my writing energies lately go to my blog and my creative energies lately have been focused on a huge Doom map with determination because the entire Doom community seems to agree that all my previous mods for that game are piles of feces (they use a different term which I won't repeat here).
  8. If Sigmund Freud were here he'd surely remind us that guns and swords are phallic symbols so when males see females holding these objects their mind sees females holding phalli. Xena, anyone?
  9. It is indeed a virtual version of playing dress-up dolls. Calling them "action figures" just makes it sound more acceptable to the boys.
  10. Being a girl I can only guess here, but I think most guys (playing in third-person mode) prefer to look at a female's backside through hundreds of hours of gameplay rather than some beefy Nord guy's rump.
  11. Did someone say Doom has come to this forum? Welcome aboard and enjoy!
  12. What hex editor are you using? If it's designed to edit TES4 files you may have answered your own question here. Not trying to sound snarky... just sayin'.

  14. It could very well be this; many games have issues with UAC, I've run Morrowind on Windows 7x64-bit for quite some time now with no issues at all. I'm even using the graphics extender and a ton of mods. I have it installed to my "D" drive rater than "C".
  15. Each of the mods mentioned here use the same file, so one will always overwrite the other.
  16. This mod has fixed all the interface and key-binding issues for me.
  17. This mod has fixed all my interface and key-binding issues.
  18. Yes, this interface key tweak mod indeed fixed all my key-binding issues.
  19. Thanks. I'll definitely look for that mod.
  20. Thanks for the help. I knew it had to be something I was missing, but as it turns out part of the problem is also that I've re-assigned my movement keys so now they will not function on the map. (I NEVER use the WASD deal.) The mouse cursor to the screen edge works though, so I'll manage. UI problems seem to be a recurring theme with this game. I had a similar issue because I had re-assigned the "activate" function. I guess the devs expected us to just use all the default key assignments and be happy.
  21. As you might guess, I'm accustomed to the world map in Oblivion. Can the Skyrim world map be moved/dragged around like the Cyrodiil map so I can pick where I actually want to fast-travel to? I understand zooming in/out and placing markers, but I can't figure out how to see the rest of the map. (I'm gonna feel really stupid if it's something really basic. Stupid Skyrim UI !)
  22. These problems occur with companion scripts and AI in the earlier Bethesda games as well, and I'm gonna guess that the scripting in Skyrim isn't too much more advanced since the engine appears so similar. Even with community-made companion systems that teams of modders strove to perfect (CM Partners, RR Companion Vault, NCCS) such AI problems are still present because they could only do so much with what the devs gave them. I'd wager that unless they start making these games MMO we'll always find things less than perfect with our companions.
  23. and i think you have no idea what you're talking about. The engine streams the world around you. it can already handle an infinitely vast map, because it only keeps nearby things in memory, and distant stuff is lowpoly models. No need to get sensitive about it; I was just offering my opinion in response to the OP. As far as the technology goes, it would be quite possible. As you've stated, only nearby things are kept in memory; the whole world wouldn't be constantly in the memory. Think of it like traveling from Cyrodiil to the Shivering Isles in Oblivion. Is the entirety of the Shivering Isles constantly stored in the memory while you're walking around in Anvil? But I admit that it'll never happen because I agree with you that it would be a heck of a lot of work that they'll never put into a single game... ever. (Heck, the releases of both RAGE and SKYRIM needed update patches the day of their release.) Also, it wouldn't be good business sense; you can't make money off four more games if you put all their content in a single release. I was just typing an idea in a gaming forum, that's all.
  24. I think the technology has advanced to the point (and will continue to advance by the development of the next game) that there's no reason for the next Elder Scrolls game to be restricted to a single province. It should involve travel between all the different nations, with each nation having its own map and a world map would be used to travel between them. I know the devs could do it; it's just a matter of how much work they're willing to invest.
  25. After going into the courtyard at High Hrothgar to learn my Whirlwind shout, I found that the quest would not continue to progress until I had saved the game and then reloaded the game from that save. Then the rest of the monks came out and we were able to get on with my training. Has anyone else experienced this? (Hope this was the right place to post.)
