SSE NO MORE INVISIBLE BARRIERS AROUND STATIC OBJECTS!
twowolves80 posted a topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
Premise: Remove the invisible walls (reduce the size of the collision boxes for static objects) so that arrows don't deflect off of an invisible barrier--four feet off the visible ground. I think it's a little ridiculous that this hasn't been done yet. Standing up on a cliff, nothing around me. The ground literally falls away, and there's nothing sticking up. Line up my long distance shot that I know will be a one-hit kill. Fire. Nope--the game engine says, "F you and your ridiculous, unnecessary need to have your arrows go where you want them. What, are you stupid?" It's time to make this a reality. Really, really fed up with arrows deflecting off invisible walls, getting stuck in mid-air around railings, (especially when said railings are ankle high--seriously, wtf?!). Skyrim has been out how long? And this has yet to be addressed? Come on, seriously? And so you know what in the Nine I'm talking about: http://oi63.tinypic.com/nqsj9z.jpg That shiss is getting really frelling old. I've had shots where the damned arrow is at least a meter off the ground, and stuck. Bethesda, wtf did you do to the collision boxes? Make them as big as the damned mountains I can't shoot off of? Please, please, pleeeeeeeeeze make this mod a reality. I'd do it myself, but I have no idea how, and I'm sick of dealing with these unnecessarily large collision/hit boxes around static objects. There is absolutely no reason the above should be happening, at all. I have nothing to offer, so here is some nerd porn in trade: If this isn't enough, let me know. I'll find more. lol Seriously, I'm half-tempted to offer up a membership just to have this mod made because I'm so frickin' sick of hitting invisible barriers, alerting the peasants that I then have to kill with a sword because they got too nosy for their own good about what that noise was. Edit: I know this mod exists for Fallout 4, and I can't remember the name of it. It allowed your rifle shots to go through railings, fencing, gaps between clutter, etc. -
The question you (and all of us) should be asking is, why hasn't someone made this a mod yet? A yurt is perfect for nomadic living, and I could see the Khajiit with their own variation of it. Shouldn't be too hard to create, but I am no good in CK. +1 idea. And so people know what in the name of the Nine we're talking about: http://nagyji.5mp.eu/honlapkepek/nagyji/ZR8kvznIOe/nagy/jurta_belso.jpg A yurt. Very cozy on those cold Skyrim nights. I could see Forsworn adopting these, too, possibly from the Khajiit. Easy to pack up and move. Another question, why hasn't @Elianora tackled this? lol This seems like it would be right up the Clutter-Queen's alley. Edit: I also found PopYurt Instant Hunter's Tent and Skyrim Adventurers Tent, but both are oldrim and need to be ported over.

There's the Pelagius Wing Player Home. It's oldrim, unfortunately, but you could try porting it over. It does involve scripts, but those should be okay. It's mainly the texture files and the mesh files you have to be careful of, and updating the esp in the CK (just open the esp only--put it in your data folder first and don't overwrite anything, just put the esp in the folder and nothing else--and then save it. That's it.). Or were you looking for something else? Also, you may have had better luck posting in the Mod Detectives Thread in the Mod Talk forum (I think that's where it is). SE has its own mod detective thread now. No matter. I'll help you out. If you like, I'll walk you through porting a mod (to the best of my ability, which isn't all that much to begin with...seriously, I can already hear the jeers and boos, and we haven't even begun. lol) Edit: I found the Extended Pelagius Wing, too--this one actually looks pretty cool. I might add this myself.

lol I like his ideas of military conquest--very Sun Tsu-esque. "Conquer the army, make peace with the people, and they will become our people." I like the bit he adds about how their accomplishments will be our accomplishments, and if you let them self-rule, you make them feel free. So...you want an older gentlemen who is a crack archer-follower who occasionally makes witty, astute comments on the political situation in Skyrim? I don't know who this guy is, but he's kind of cool. lol You could reach out to him and see if you could use his voice for the follower. Get that permission, and you'll probably get more people who will be willing to take a crack at it. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about stand-alone followers to make one, but I'm working on it. +1 on the idea. Really like this guy. And just so people don't have to copy-and-paste:

SSE NPCs walk through each other
twowolves80 replied to pancakemaster808's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
Do you have any mods that add more NPCs to the game? Or change NPC AI scripts? -
Oh, cool! Now, you could take a look at that mod's mesh files, and see where it's getting its hands from, or if it has hand files at all. That would confirm the mod as the source of the problem definitively, and then you could PM the author and let them know so they know to fix it. Thanks for posting that you found the solution!

I think the title sums it up. It's always bothered me that when I use NeoValen's Skyrim Coin Replacer Redux, the chests contain tens of thousands of nothing but coins in my player house, but the chests themselves never hint at the wealth within. Basically, something that looks like this: http://www.onmilwaukee.com/images/articles/re/realpiratesopens/realpiratesopens_fullsize_story2.jpg And instead of needing the lid-opening animation, do away with that entirely, and alter the sound so it sounds like you're sticking your hand in a pile of coins when you activate it--no animation required. You could probably even use vanilla assets, if there's a way to render the lid completely open and make it stay that way. I use Riverside Lodge, and I love to cram the room right under the stairs with as much coin and loot as possible, and something like this, with maybe place-able, rug-sized mats of coin piles for the floor, would be awesome. I want to walk down there and see piles of coin like a dragon hoard, especially with as much grave-rob--uh, draugr-slaying--as I'm doing. I think this should be possible, but I don't know how to do it myself. If someone wants to teach me and walk me through it, I'll give you half-credit for the mod. But it's high time as high king that my coffers be overflowing, dammit!

Thanks. Search engines kept routing me to the oldrim version.
-
Where did you pick up a copy of Jaxonz Positioner for SE? I thought it hadn't been ported yet? Where may I obtain said mod?
-
You could try building the reference body in Outfit Studio, assigning it new hands and Exporting To NIF with Reference to the actors/character/character assets folder. Those are vanilla hands, that's why weight won't affect them no matter what you do. Vanilla hands are bigger than CBBE, which is why the wrists don't line up. You have to find where the hands are being generated from (either your data folder, or MO's virtual install directory), and replace those hands with that of CBBE.
-
It's definitely not weight. If you're character is already a vampire and you use ShowRaceMenu, it will revert it back to a wonky state where you can't change anything. If not a vampire, it's still most likely tied to a bad install, or something overwrote it wrong. I would say one of the presets was using vanilla hands for an asset. I'd try installing only CBBE over again, and go through the overwrite dialogue boxes one by one. Only overwrite what you want to come through as purely CBBE, so the hands should be fixed, but you might want to do this last, after you finish tinkering with the face and everything else. If it still persists, then I'm not sure, but you're definitely not the only one with it. I just always make sure to pick my angles for screenshots carefully if I have to shoot a character's wrists bare. Otherwise, I just keep bracers of some kind on. Hope this helps.

You know, to all the people unhappy about it, just be patient, guys/girls; I have a feeling there's a bit of a learning curve for them as well. It's a new site with new site coding and new layout options. Let's compare it to Skyrim Modding. Wait, what? You weren't an absolute pro the first time you ever downloaded a mod and started playing? Pff. No excuse, you should have had a full load of 255 mods that was completely stable with 8K resolution and no script errors, the first time you ever modded Skyrim. Now, see how ridiculous that sounds? Be patient and let them finish playing with it to see what can be done. It could simply be a case of where they're trying to port over as much as possible, but the new format may not actually allow them to do everything they want, or we would like to see. Keep the comments constructive, and give them six months. Then, you may have a legitimate gripe if something is broken. But right now, it's still too new--to them and to us. Keep in mind, they're also splitting their time between that, the Vortex mod manager development, work, real life, family and everything else. "The new site looks like **** and I hate it and I refuse to compromise my position at all." :armscrossed: Or... "I don't like the look of the new site, and here's why. Is there any way we can make it better?" Which do you think they'll appreciate more? It's not the end of the world, and it's nowhere near finished, so give them a chance. Also, I'm astonished at the lack of Thanksgiving wishes posted here towards our site owner (that's right, the Dark0ne belongs to us!). Just because some of the admins aren't from the US doesn't mean they don't appreciate turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie. So, happy turkey day. Thanks for all you do, Robin and company. Even if we don't always agree with everything you do on the site, we know you've got our best interests at heart, so thank you. :D And now, here's some digital pie for you. http://www.foodandwine.com/assets/images/201309-HD-pumpkin-pie.gif/variations/original.gif Man, that Raider Quad Bike mod has a patch for everything! lol

One thing I noticed about the Updates button--it shows only some of the updates, and only to those comments posted on a mod page through the new site. Also, and maybe this is something easily fixed? I don't know. When you click on the update you want to view on a post on a mod's page, it doesn't take you to your comment, it takes you to the latest post in the thread, so you have to sift through all the comments until you find yours. That can be confusing if you made a comment weeks ago, and the mod author is just getting back to you. I still haven't found the comment of mine that was responded to, nor the response, so perhaps it's just bugged?
-
I found this thread, in which it is suggested it could be a borked mod, along with the possibility of setting your iRadialBlurLevel to 0. You could also try setting the default weathers in the command console to: sw 15e fw 15e Obviously, there's the other solutions too, including reinstalling graphics drivers, etc. But I think this is a bug with the game itself as you are not the first person to have this. I used to get this problem on occasion with Oldrim and Better Vampires where my vampire nightvision would get stuck on, and become even brighter. It could also be any number of small conflicts between weather mods that can only be found through TESVEdit.

See? It's not hard, people. Robin and company do listen when you give them something useful. Elaborate. Be descriptive. Suggest alternatives. Be helpful. That will change the new site faster than calling people autists (seriously, when did nexusmods become 4chan?), or just venting that you hate the site but not giving reasons why. You can't fix something if you don't know it's broke. Was chat something that was going to be fixed for the new website, or are you staying with the Nexusmods/Discord duality? I ask because you could add a small visual element (from what I remember of SQL, it was a bit of code to simply do a run-check, I think) to the Chat button at the top of the page to display status--red for it being down, yellow for it being high-traffic busy, and green being good to go. This could just be changing the color of the text itself so users know at a glance when it's up or down. I don't know if it's possible to have that kind of software inter-operability, though. Also, and perhaps one of the more veteran posters here can answer this, but could we have a list of third-party websites that nexusmods allows to be linked on this site so that people who are new to the forums know which ones they can use? For a while, I was using photobucket. Then they went premium. Then I switched to postimage.org. Not allowed anymore on Nexus. Nor were a few others. Or at least, is there one you would recommend that doesn't require signing up for a membership just to host images? Tinypic.com is one that seems okay. If we could have this as a sticky, or just as part of a general site FAQ, that would be useful. I bring this up in response to the people who mentioned the drag-and-drop issues. I normally used postimage, but that no longer works, and its like a revolving door, trying to guess which third-party site will be allowed every time I want to post an image. --in the forums, not on the website, per se as I have no problem uploading to my profile. Just wanted to clarify that. Wait....postimage.org isn't allowed? That's what I've been using....I've tried tinypic, mediafire, flikr and the like, but all of them load so many ads and pop-ups, I can't do a thing with them. why isn't postimage allowed? Tinypic doesn't work for me. When I try to post, it says images from that hosting site aren't allowed, or something. This is why I was wondering about a list of endorsed image hosting sites, or at least ones that don't conflict with the site. Now, I'm using imgur. The problem is it seems to fluctuate, and I was hoping we could have a list of sites that are fully functional here.
-
I would make a separate thread for that. That I've seen happen a couple times with mods that change perception--usually vampire mods. I used to get it stuck every once in a while in superbright vampire vision. You could try using the ts command in the console--that toggles the sky. See if that helps.

Skyrim SE - Mod Detectives Thread
twowolves80 replied to DoctorKaizeld's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim SE
I know someone made a mod for Fallout 4 for this, but I'll be damned if I can remember what it's called. Basically, make the collision boxes around all static objects a lot smaller so you don't wind up with this: http://oi63.tinypic.com/nqsj9z.jpg Yech. Like I said, there's a mod for Fallout 4 to fix this, but damned if I can't remember the name of it. lol I'm wondering if you have come across a solution for this? In first person, it's even worse. You'll have the target perfectly lined up, nowhere near any possible obstacles, and yet, bam. It clips an invisible mesh in front of you, ricochets to your feet. Or it gets stuck floating in mid-air. Damn it! I just gave my position away! you say as your stealth meter goes to hell. lol I hate when that happens, and in some areas, it's so terrible that you can have nothing above your ankles or forget it. Please tell me someone has fixed this for Skyrim Special Edition? -
Imaginator is good. Also, Blue Skies. Be forewarned, that's Oldrim, so if there are any meshes, you need to convert them over to x64. Also, open the esp in the CK, do a fake edit, and save.
-
Porting a mod requires a bit more than downloading it manually and pointing NMM at it. You have to run the meshes through NifOptimizer, and then open and save the esp in the CK so it converts everything over.
-
I thought you needed an imgur account? Hmm...I may just switch over. Photobucket borked things with their, "Now you pay for excess storage." I know tinypic works, too. I'm curious if there's an official endorsement one way or the other--in other words, are there specific image hosting sites that Robin and company had in mind when they set permissions for the forums? Or is it just whatever works with the site code? And technically, for those inclined to say such things: It's not just for two sites they will be paying for if they offer an old and new version of the site, they're also paying for the forums, so it's actually three sites. Last checked (and I've never actually checked...), Robin isn't related to the Windsors or the Buffet family, so his funds are probably a little less... http://ronedmondson.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/fingers-apart.jpg ...than bottomless.

lol The problem is it only shows one mesh in the folder when I try to open it in Outfit Studio.

So how would I adjust the hair through Outfit Studio without having that stacking effect occur?

I think it may have something to do with the SKSE64 alpha. Odd things happen sometimes in my game with it that defy explanation. Deer running through the sky, UI elements sometimes acting funny...the mouse, in particular, seems laggy/buggy. I got a response from Nazenn, so let's send positive thoughts his way as he recovers. He isn't sure himself what could be causing it, but right now, everything is still in flux with SKSE64 in alpha, and the updates and whatnot. So this is definitely still an on-going issue. If we find a solution, I'll be sure to pass it on to him. Love this mod and want to see it fixed (if it is, in fact, the mod that isn't working with the newest SKSE64).

Clean save = A save file made before any mods are installed, either through a mod manager, or manually. The save is typically made upon exiting the cave with Hadvar/Rodolf, or better, made inside the Riverwood Trader. Mods are then installed after this point. New Save = A hard save (not a quick save or autosave) made inside an interior space (i.e., a store like Riverwood Trader). This is sometimes necessary to update a mod, which requires uninstalling the mod, making a new save, and then installing the updated version. This is done to stop scripts from running, and thus do a sort of soft-purge of the scripts from the save game (or at least, ensure that it's part of the save file that those particular scripts were stopped so they don't interfere). As in all things, be sure to read the instructions on the mod page as some mods have different requirements for updating (some don't require a new save, for instance). Hope this helps. :)
