  1. Uh...who is James Woolsey? I don't really think EMPs are fear-mongering. That is an existential threat, and one serious enough for the intelligence community to have studied in-depth. They're obviously worried about something happening. And it's logical. Nuke L.A., kill a few million. EMP the US, kill a few hundred million. Which is more attractive an option to someone hell-bent on destroying us with the least amount of effort? The detrimental effects of EMP on electronics and the power grid, not to mention anything with a large metal surface area, are proven. The EMP effects of nukes are proven. And it only takes a single missile to get through. That is to say nothing of the scalar weapons the Russians have pursued since the 40s and Operation Paperclip. Those make nukes look like pop-guns. Nikola Tesla himself proved their effectiveness with the demonstration of his Wardenclyffe tower in New York when he blasted a crater into the Siberian hinterlands that is still "unexplained" to this day, most likely because of the relative ease with which high-frequency pulsed DC current can be weaponized (relative for a military budget, that is). I think we will see war with N. Korea before the end of Trump's term, whether or not him shooting off his mouth is the catalyst that starts it. This status quo wasn't going to stay that way forever with N. Korea, and no matter what, that war is guaranteed to change the geopolitical face of the planet in ways we don't yet fully grasp.
  2. Lol so we're even more at risk than I originally thought? Yeah, we're cooked. I thought they had some kind of missile shield in place, or is that entirely terrestrial-based?
  3. How about simply imposing congressional term limits (say, twice in the office and then out) with an exclusion clause that says, "once you're out, you're all the way out, no more politics, now get your ass out there and get a real job, you sycophantic bureaucrat?" :P Also, Ajit Pai should be the first person investigated by that spy network Trump proposed. Yeah, the shadow government may be real, but you don't pull the mask off the Lone Ranger. And you sure as hell don't bite the hand that feeds you. Net Neutrality was the only thing checking some of the outrageous power given by that singularly toxic bit of legislation called the PATRIOT Act, which should have long ago been tossed out --but, nine-eleven! Omg! How could I forget?! Keep the PATRIOT Act, please! And here! Take the rest of my rights, too! Smh... "Those who would trade freedom for security deserve neither." --Benjamin Franklin "If we ever allow banks to control the issuance of our currency, first through inflation, and then deflation, the corporations that spring up around them shall continue to deprive us of land until our children wake to find themselves homeless in the lands their forefathers once occupied." --Thomas Jefferson "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." --Thomas Paine
  4. ...or it could have to do with the fact that the daedra keep meddling and causing wars that keep wiping out the best and brightest. They seem to be uppity about people who are close to their power-level and who aren't immortal. lol Also, you'd still think they'd have adapted some kind of crude locomotive for moving war materiel from the dwemer steam technology.
  5. You guys are animals. Using trees to clean yourself. Pff. The Europeans have the right idea--bidets. A jet of warm water to actually clean you, instead of merely wiping it around. Once you're clean, then use toilet paper to dry. And it's over the top. lol :P
  6. Whoo boy...I guess I'll throw my hat into this ring with a long-winded explanation. First, scientists do not all agree on what reality is in the first place, and reality is the subjective perception we hold of the universe's eternal nature that allows the human mind/brain to interpret what it perceives through the senses to form order from chaos. That being said, our personality is formed based on the interaction of active perception and passive awareness. Scientists have found that the brain doesn't need to be whole to completely recall something missing from a section of the brain that was removed. Think about that for a moment. That is essentially like playing a game of billiards. Each ball has the same information on it (for the sake of argument)--whatever it is. Let's say each ball has Elianora's phone number on there, lol. Now, one by one, the balls drop off into the pockets, and even though the balls were the "brain," so to speak, removing one ball doesn't diminish the information each contains--because that information was written on all the balls simultaneously when it was initially perceived. This has been proven conclusively, using rats in the 1920s. It is quickly becoming clear that we live in a holographic/fractal universe because of the way that the universe stores information. That has world-shaking implications, both for what it means to be human, and what it means for the concept of personality. Here's the thing about Nature. It uses the same patterns over and over and over again. They're so complex that we don't really perceive the patterns on anything but the most subconscious level, and those patterns are always in the form of fractal mathematics. Trees use fractal laws when growing branches (seriously, this was on Scientific American Frontiers when they were talking about how Mandelbrot discovered fractal mathematics), as do mountains, land masses, rivers, solar systems, galaxies, and even DNA. Nature is the ultimate recycler of old patterns, using them to create infinitely new variations of itself over and over and over. Eternally. A good example would be the orbits of electrons around the atom. Similar to how planets orbit a star. It's a pattern. We live in a binary universe. Everything is binary. Yes/No. Hot/Cold. On/Off. Either/Or. Before you start saying, that's not true, just wait, hear me out. You'll see we're talking about two different, but very related things. In terms of the laws of the universe, things are binary. Positive/Negative, up/down, matter/antimatter. Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle plays into this--essentially, we can never know the exact position of a particle, and it's momentum, at the same time. It's one or the other--and there's that binary system again. Not only that, the math says that merely the act of perceiving one or the other changes the outcome of the system (quantum physics, anyone?), which in turn brought about the Schroedinger's Cat paradox, but that's another debate... :P So, this means that perception itself solidifies the universe around us, and if there were no one to consciously perceive the universe in an intelligent way does that mean that it would cease to exist? One question I have yet to find an answer to... But anyways, think about algebra. Basic non-linear algebra. In order for you to solve a non-linear equation, you have to balance both sides of that = symbol. Again, there's the binary--you have to balance both sides for the math to be true and correct, and give the correct answer. There are no three-sided algebra equations. Now, about math--math is the purest science there is, and here is what I mean by that. Math never lies. If the math is correct, and the answer is correct (i.e., it balances both sides of the equations), there's no arguing it. There's no shades of gray. You're either right, or you're wrong. Scientists long ago discovered this to be true, especially in higher math like calculus and trigonometry, and have used this principle as the foundation of all of our greatest scientific discoveries. But here's the thing--it's the one science humankind has at it's disposal to use as a measuring stick against the universe. And here is why the binary universe is important: Human perception spans the gap between negative and positive, yes/no. That perception gives us the ability to perceive all the colors of the rainbow between the black and the white, the positive and the negative. Human perception/consciousness is an anomaly in an otherwise binary system, and that makes us unique. There's no such thing as a binary system! Oh, yeah? Look at DNA. Only contains four letters, and only two sides of the strand. The chromosome is either on or it's off. The cell is either alive, or it's dead. We perceive, or we don't. We're awake, or we're unconscious. Not only that, scientists have also found that everything in creation vibrates with energy. Where this energy comes from is a mystery (no, really). The latest fad was string theory. I discovered this one night while studying the trigonometry of music, and why music is always expressed as a sine wave and nothing else. The sine wave seems to be Nature's most simple form of energy transmission, and like all the other patterns it recycles, the sine wave is no different. Think about it. Everything in creation can be expressed in the form of a sine wave. Everything. Life, death, perception, time, reality itself--everything. And because the universe is infinite, not to mention relativistic, we exist in an infinite fractal spiral that continuously spins off new probabilities and new potentials (and maybe even new universes) because infinity is infinite--it can create new variations forever, and never run out of possibilities. Life? Top of the sine wave. Death? Bottom of the sine wave. Back and forth, over and over. What does this mean for perception and consciousness, you say? Here's what I believe to be true due to personal experience. I believe we repeat. The life we are in now, I believe we will relive over and over and over in infinite variation. We've already had this debate before in infinite combinations, and we will continue having this debate anew in infinite combinations moving forward through time. Because death is merely an energy transitional phase as we travel along the sine wave of reality (remember, because Nature repeats patterns from the very small to the unthinkably large--micro to macro), and when we come back up out of the trough, we enter life again, or our perception does because energy can never be created or destroyed, merely change phases. This would explain de ja vu, and that whole, "My life flashed before my eyes!" trope--perhaps time, in that singular moment, flows backwards to our perception until we hit the big bang of our creation/conception, and poof, back in the universe again. Almost a rhythm, you say? Exactly. A rhythm. A wave. A sine wave, to be specific. A Pattern. And since those tests on rats prove that you don't need the whole system to recreate the whole system (i.e., our consciousness/perception/personality), that means that even if a single photon survives from our brain when we die, that photon contains all the information about our life, and everything that makes us who we are, and it can transfer that energy to something else, or recreate the whole. That's why the soul weighs nothing (according to those experiments in the 1800s when they tried finding the weight of the "soul"). I believe the "soul" is nothing but the energetic imprint we leave on the surface of the universe. Nothing is forgotten--we don't have to be afraid of dying and losing ourselves because we're all still there, and we'll all get to travel together forever, even if we don't remember each time we do. This is a very ephemeral pattern, yes, I'll admit that, but it's one that, in my experience, I have found to answer a lot of my most deep-seated questions. And here's the beauty of it: This means that we are all brothers and sisters on our voyage through the infinite as we create infinite new probabilities every day just by existing, and we just haven't realized it yet, or internalized it in a way that makes it real. And that, in turn means that we are a part of the furnace of creation, and have the ability to create new variations if we perturb that infinite field by making conscious decisions one way or the other. Either for negative or positive impact (there's that binary system again! lol). Just my opinion, but maybe it's one that will help awaken someone else, and if it's wrong, it's wrong! But maybe it will unlock something in someone else who will then give us the correct answer! Ha! Thanks for listening, guys/gals!
  7. Sorry for the necro, bben just found this thread wildly apropo after the acrimonious and internecine arguing over on the new site feedback threads, so I hope you'll forgive me adding my two septims. I found this while perusing another site over etiquette for debates: Tips: 1. Avoid the use of the word, "Never." 2. Avoid the use of the word, "Always." 3. Refrain from saying you are wrong. 4. You can say your idea is mistaken [but be prepared to defend your reasoning courteously]. 5. Don’t disagree with obvious truths. 6. Attack the idea not the person. 7. Avoid exaggeration[/generalization]. 8. The use of often/generally allows for exceptions [in very limited circumstances]. 9. If it is just an opinion, admit it. 10. Do not present opinion as facts. 11. Smile when disagreeing. 12. Stress the positive. 13. Avoid bickering, quarreling, and wrangling. 14. Watch your tone of voice. [obviously not very applicable here...but the tone of your post is :P ] 15. Keep your perspective – You’re just debating. It seems most of these rules are to do the following: Keep people from making broad, general statements in a way that is antagonistic and confrontational: "You all are wrong." "Anyone who believes that is full of crap." "This site sux balls, I'm not giving u any money." Generalized statements are unfair as they bring in all the toxicity of emotion and make the point indefensible because while you may feel someone is wrong specifically, that doesn't mean everyone is wrong. Same thing for the site. Just because you don't like the new site layout doesn't mean others don't, and for you to sit there and try to be as vocal as possible in your vehement dislike of the new site (for instance), and then claim that your voice is the majority just because a few vocal minority on the site agree with you, doesn't mean you're right. That's just one example, but it applies to misogynism and sexism, too. "Pff. All men are pigs." Yeah? There's that pesky "all" statement again, and that's terribly sexist. "All women have the xx chromosome." True. Still an "all" statement. Best avoid starting any statements with the word, "all." So, generalized statements are bad. You can say to someone, "I think your belief is wrong, and here is why," and that will come across a bit more positively than, "I think your belief is wrong, you're an idiot, GTFO." So maybe no general statements, no acting antagonistic, and no using confrontational wording should be added to my list. That's really the last part of the post: Confrontational language. No using "you" statements. "You're wrong." "You said this." "You did that." "You wrote this." Instead, how about, "I think you're incorrect, here's why?" Or, "I heard you say this, can you clarify?." "I'd heard you'd done this, but wasn't sure." "Didn't I read that you'd wrote this?" See the difference? Those are statements where the context becomes less accusatory and more explaining what you, the person speaking, did, seen, heard, and experienced. You become more a seeker of explanation in that context, so the other person will feel more that you aren't attacking them so much as just arguing their point. Again, just my two septims from the department of what-it's-worth after coming off the acrimonious new site threads. Thank you for stickying this thread, bben--perhaps the admins should start bouncing people here when they start acting like idiots over there... (See? A general statement that just made you go, wtf? He just accused everyone of being idiots! An example of what not to say...) lol Haven't even had coffee yet...
  8. Google sucks. Fully agree. They're very intrusive...and yet, I use their email. The government already has a Skynet-like system in place, and that's why the news this morning about this article was so important, and was given almost no space on Bing (something they don't want the public too curious about, perhaps?). This technology is there, and they've been experimenting with algorithms using something called PROMIS software that they've tweaked for AI applications. And how better to spur new development, but for the DoD to bring in a company like Google. Plus, I'll bet Google has access to that muti-billion-dollar facility out in Utah that the NSA uses, or at the very least, Google AI software is involved. As for N. K., I think he's going to try to trigger a Carrington event. It's the only thing that would make sense, and it only takes a single missile to get through. Our STAR WARS orbital missile defense system is aging. If he can lob a big enough nuke six miles up above Ohio-Pennsylvania, he would wipe out most of the power grid in the US with the resulting EMP blast, and the government itself has already come out and said it's not prepared for that type of attack because none of the power grid is hardened. Government estimates could put the casualty rate as high as 90% due to famine, crime, disease, and pestilence because we would be thrown back 200 years for about two to five years as they replace all the substation equipment across the nation. We no longer make those parts here. That's right, we exported that industry to China. I'll wait for you to finish your facepalm. lol
  9. Great mod! Also, another trick is to click on the object in question in the console and see what number pops up. The first two digits are the load order, so line those up with your NMM or MO load order and that, too, will tell you which esp the object belongs to. :)
I got you, don't worry: "I find the new layout also crap. It is totally unfriendly to users. I just want to know who comes to such a layout and who finds something like that. Those who cannot read German should [use Google Translate], I must also do, since I do not understand English." Although, I don't understand why you couldn't have just copied and pasted the translation here instead of making the readers do your translating for you...
  11. Sorry, we don't really speak Italian, here... Google Translate says: "Wanted people who want to create a mod to address the daedrici principles in order to purify skyrim from their influence added by dungeons, bosses and the possibility of not becoming champions dremora" So an overhaul mod to remove daedric influence? That's a tough one considering all of Skyrim worships daedra in one form or another.
  12. Thanks, Yian! I don't think this would be all that hard to pull off myself, but I wouldn't even know where to begin attempting to make this mod a reality.
  13. That was the first thing I did. Yeah, we're aware of that one, for now take "/games" out of the site profile url when switching from the forum side. Ah, okay! Thanks, Dante! :D See? Told you they were listening. #nexusforever
  14. Reduced the size to 80%, looks a lot better. Yeah, there's been more than a few users who've attempted to pour their own frustrations out on the admins--not gonna stand for that, myself, especially when said admins are doing this for free, and especially if members are being completely hypocritical (for example, by saying I'm not giving you anymore money--when they never were a paid member to begin with). We're community here--we support each other, even when we don't agree, by at least using language conducive to growth and development, and being civil to one another. That's why the title of the thread is New Design Constructive Feedback. I have no time for people that are wasting thread space with, "Uh, this site sux balls, u suck, I hate nexus, I'm never coming back." Also keep in mind, they're still tinkering with functionality. Right now, you can't click on someone's profile in the forums, then click on Nexus Profile. Doing so returns a blank page. You have to go to the main splash page for the new site, and then search the mod author's name.
  15. Actually it's not the case, I like my Skyrim to be realism, tho even if i'm saying this it just word so yeah we can think of what we want  as the proverb goes Live And Let Live. Anyway thanks for your tips, i'll probably test it myself. Good day to you. No, I understood what you meant. I'm not getting down on you at all. You want horses to appear more realistic and in more variety, and that mod gives that and the ability to breed horses, if I understood correctly. Hope it ported over well for you! :)
  16. Someone in another thread I believe suggested zooming the browser itself down to 80%. I tried it and it made things a lot better. You may not like how it looks, though. But it's a stop gap measure.
  17. http://prntscr.com/hiylnl It's quite visible. http://oi68.tinypic.com/11j3bqf.jpg :P
  18. It's time once again for another of ol' Crazy Two Wolves' ridiculous ideas for Skyrim! Step right in... Ioun Stones! http://oi66.tinypic.com/33xirew.jpg Yes, those ioun stones from none other than Dungeons & Dragons, the Godfather of Skyrim and other fantasy games as we know them. Ioun Stones, per the D&D wiki, are defined as: "These crystalline stones always float in the air and must be within 3 feet of their owner to be of any use. When a character first acquires a stone, she must hold it and then release it, whereupon it takes up a circling orbit [one to three] feet from her head. Thereafter, a stone must be grasped or netted to separate it from its owner. The owner may voluntarily seize and stow a stone (to keep it safe while she is sleeping, for example), but she loses the benefits of the stone during that time." Now, I've put together a table that could be used if someone were to make this mod for the community with effects that are geared towards Skyrim and not D&D (because there's no such thing as the Charisma ability in Skyrim). It could be adapted, changed, and altered as needed. The only external asset that would be needed is an animation for the gems floating around a person's head. They could be incorporated into leveled lists, too, and should be craftable, no different than enchanting anything else, I would assume. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flawless Diamond: Sustains player without food, water or oxygen (waterbreathing, immunity to atmospheric toxins, as in the Understone Keep/Museum areas, possible Frostfall/Realistic Needs functionality?) Flawless Ruby: Absorbs 20 points of health from opponents within x distance from the character (similar to stepping too close to anything in the game that absorbs health from you as a permanent effect) Flawless Emerald: absorbs 20 points of stamina from opponents within x distance from the character Flawless Amethyst: absorb 20 points of magicka from opponents within x distance from the character Flawless Sapphire: adds 10% bonus to all attacks and damage Flawless Garnet: adds 10% bonus to health, magicka and stamina Diamond: Waterbreathing or Immunity to Poison or Immunity to Diseases (not sure which should be used) Ruby: Regenerates health 1% per minute (this number can change in development) Emerald: Wild Animals will not attack you unless you attack them first Amethyst: Grants night vision at will Sapphire: Adds 20 points to Defense Garnet: Immune to mind-affecting effects --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is the wiki link to see the original D&D entry for Ioun Stones for reference purposes. These effects can be changed around; this was just a foundation to establish and make it clear what I was talking about. I don't even think they'd need collision as they'd be too small to strike, so they could just float in orbit around the player's head at all times unless the player unequips them. Thanks in advance!
  19. I can't speak for Dark0ne or the admins, but I certainly appreciate when someone takes the time to write out a well-thought out critique. A lot more pleasant to read (not to mention less likely to make me shut down and not hear the rest) than some, "I hate u, ur site sux balls, I'm not giving u any money," type post. Kudos to you. Also, that is a good question. Personally, I don't think the picture tiles are necessary. Bring back the sidebar, and put the list of games on that, perhaps as smaller icons (similar to the Skyrim.exe icon). Instantly frees up space in the top which then allows the News and Announcements to take front and center where it belongs since this is the section that will have important (and possibly critical--remember the hack?) information for members not only about mods, but about the site itself. Thicken the text on the buttons for greater visual contrast, add a delay to the drop down effect (one second should do), add a bit of shadowing to the buttons to make them more 3D, and add the chat-flag to the bottoms of the image tiles in the Manage Your Images section so we know when an image received a comment at a glance as the Updates notification doesn't always work. ...I'll...be damned. It does work! lol Nice trick!
  20. One thing I've noticed that's been growing in annoyance is the linking. If I click on someone's profile in the forums, and then click the View Nexus Profile link, it takes me to a blank screen, not their Nexus profile on the new site. I'm assuming this is something that is broken temporarily as they hammer out more pressing bugs and functionality. Not a big deal, just thought you should know. :)
  21. [emphasis added] Can you say that again, a little louder? *hands you a megaphone* Seriously, I'm going to give you a kudos for that right now.
  22. SKSE will update when it does. Keep in mind the SKSE64 is an alpha. So it may not be as quick to get a new update out as the regular SKSE. Secondly, I found a fool-proof way to keep it from updating every time. I simply stopped the update mid-stream, and then hit the little X next to it so that it stopped the download. Then, I don't turn my computer off, just put it in sleep mode. Now, it never updates at all, and the last version of SKSE64 works with the Skyrim.exe. When SKSE64 updates, then I'll allow the update through.
  23. 1. The non-exterior doors (the kind that don't trigger a load screen) are all the same general types and are reused over and over throughout the games, not the types where you have to throw a switch to power bars, obviously. Therefore, it shouldn't be hard to tailor a script to "infect" the npc with a command to perform a certain action, and have that one script duplicated and copied to each of those types of doors. There's even a "seeker-script" that will copy that script to all those door types. Basically, a script that gives any npc a temporary script to close the door behind them that ends after that and only runs when they go trough a door that is closed. 2. Don't want a perk. I know about the wax key. I don't want that. I want a key that will eventually go obsolete within 72 hours of the location owner(s) respawn to represent the bandits or whoever, "changing the locks." 4. For the doors, you could set the animation to trigger the super-dense dust clouds that the game occasionally uses in places like dwemer ruins to totally obscure vision (they're the tan-colored and opaque clouds that last five seconds). So the door breaks, the dust cloud appears, and when it fades, there's a static object of a broken or buried door on the ground. This only works for non-load screen doors. Load screen doors could be handled similarly with a generic outdoor screenshot or as the dust clears, it automatically triggers the entrance/exit loadscreen. The static object of the loadscreen doors could be a broken door or wooden rubble/debris, and have the invisible dialogue trigger for "E Open To..." I like the idea of those chests like that, though.
  24. ^ That's how I do it anyway, so maybe that's why I've not noticed as many problems in that portion of the interface. Fact is, there's always a work-around, and believe it or not, Dark0ne is listening and and reading. Kudos to you ladies and gentlemen providing really detailed posts with suggestions for fixes--you may notice something the web designer missed and now she (?) is aware of it because of the detail in the posts. Those are the kinds of feedback they're looking for. And Ethreon's suggestion just shows that there are often multiple ways to work around something. The changes may be slow, but they are being implemented. If some of the posters here are as experienced in html and site coding as they make it seem, I'm sure Dark0ne would love to hear from you as you are valuable members of the community with expert knowledge of something that could help us all out. :)
  25. Dude, it was just the holidays not that long ago, and the next set of holidays is coming up. On top of that, there seems to be one person doing the actual implementation of the design to the site itself, per what Dark0ne has said in the past in this thread and elsewhere. Plus, Vortex is coming out, and I'm pretty sure we're not the web designer's only client. How about having a little patience? That is untrue. Back before the new site was even available, Dark0ne had a thread up asking for ideas and whatnot. He has been posting pretty regularly here and elsewhere and keeping announcements up to date on the forums. And in this thread I know for a fact he has said that good feedback that can be implemented most likely will be implemented. They're still tinkering. So I don't see how this translates to a site-wide screw you to all the members. The only one I've seen post here has been Dark0ne and he's not a admin, he's the owner. Furthermore, he didn't make the new layout mandatory, had you read more than two or three pages. You can still change it back until it's gone for good in your settings. And the default Nexus page switched only after almost three months of letting us try it out, while there were feedback threads up in the forums. Your generality is thus meritless and adds nothing to the thread of any use.
