I've made it a goal to establish a different settlement as my primary base on each play through I do. This way I'm always coming up with new ideas and not rebuilding the same settlement over and over. As for survival, I plan on building the essentials at every settlement I unlock, so they'll all have at least a bed, weapon/armor/chem craft stations, something to cook food on, and then something I haven't seen many people comment on yet is I plan on really utilizing the faction assistance more than I ever have before, so every settlement will have an artillery and I'll be using flairs and vertibirds more than I have before. People forget...you may not be able to fast travel, but vertibirds get around the map pretty quick..

Yeah, mods that Beth haven't technically "allowed" us to even use yet since they haven't even released the GECK yet. Lord forbid a company not want you to hack their game until they tell you it's ok LOL.
-
No, it sounds like we paid pretty much money and that's why we should have qualify content from the start. We are not beta testers, and it's not free to play game. Do you not understand that the final version will allow mods? I really don't understand why you're so bent out of shape. You even said yourself, we are not beta testers, yet here you are complaining that you can't play the beta the way you want? You got a finished game from the start, now they're adding more content to that finished game. If they had added everything to the initial game, you'd be here complaining that there aren't any DLC's. I swear it seems like some people just can't be happy with anything.

2nd playthrough and got bored halfway through
TheOriginalEvilD replied to AeonsLegend's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I get bored pretty easily. I've had several characters past level 80 but haven't found everything with any one character yet. When I get bored I start thinking about ways to build a character around certain perks. My favorite is the stealth/ninja/bare hand or knuckle weapons only character. This at least makes it challenging to close the gap on enemies until you get the right perks and can sneak through an area unnoticed, and it'll take a while before you're doing serious damage. One big bonus of this kind of build is all the weapons and ammo you'll find that you can just sell or give to your settlers, since you won't be needing any. I did a Harley Quinn character once. That was a lot of fun. She only used baseball bats and sledge hammers and knuckles, did a lot of psycho, and killed pretty much anyone who wasn't necessary to complete the game. If you're into RP'ing (which is likely given the type of games we're into here) then that's the easiest way to rejuvenate this game. The story isn't the best, but even FO3/NV and even Oblivion/Skyrim got super boring to me after a couple plays. I got so sick of talking to the Greybeards, and even more sick of closing Oblivion gates. If it wasn't for RP'ing and trying to create very specific types of characters there's no way I could have invested so many hours into ANY of these games. -
What ever happened to Cybernetic Implants?
TheOriginalEvilD replied to CyrusAmell's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I'd say it was scrapped, or maybe even something we'll get from a DLC. -
Outside Looking In: Does Real-Time Combat Even Work?
TheOriginalEvilD replied to Moldy's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I really only use VATS when I get caught off guard, which is very very rare, or when there are just a bunch of enemies on screen all at once and I don't feel like wasting ammo taking them out. -
Complete Automatron content list?
TheOriginalEvilD replied to TheOriginalEvilD's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
It's probably too soon. I was hoping for something on the Wiki or something like that. I've found a few new weapons but I was hoping for a complete list. -
Survival Mode will be on beta next week
TheOriginalEvilD replied to Boombro's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
This is something I really miss in these games. When I first played FO3, I had no idea how to build a character and knew nothing about stealth/etc and how to build damage. I remember having shootouts with these two super mutants across the river (can't remember that location off the top of my head) but I remember having to hide behind things, running out of ammo, and just desperately trying to survive the fight. Now I kill them before they even know where I'm at. On one hand I blame my play style for being so effective, but on the other hand I hate that I'd have to deliberately change the way I play in order to make it challenging. -
I think it may just direct you to the closest settlement or something. It directed me to a little random undeveloped settlement I never use. I just built it at my main settlement.

TheOriginalEvilD replied to Boombro's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Dude, you should if you want that kind of gameplay. At lest this will explain what they do. http://kotaku.com/most-survival-games-have-problems-that-s-t-a-l-k-e-r-s-1683484728 True, but fallout games didn't aim for realism survival in the first place. So shooters? I think people need to come to terms with the fact that this IS a shooter now. The franchise has been nothing but shooters since FO3. VATS (well, the FO3 style VATS, not this new version) and the ability to develop the attributes of a character are the only RPG type elements left in this game. This is a first person adventure shooter, just as TES are first person adventure hack and slash games. Everyone seems so hell bent on preventing these games from being shooters, while at the same time completely missing the fact that making FO3 a first person shooter type game was what gave this franchise the spark it needed to become such a huge hit. Yeah the previous 3/4 view games were cool but they were nothing like this in terms of global success and fan base. -
Is there anything out there like that? I've been searching but can't find anything solid. I'd like to see a complete list of everything included in this DLC, weapons/gear/craftables/etc.

New DLC beat in 20 minutes, feel letdown
TheOriginalEvilD replied to WaRi0's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
So I just finished it, I have no idea how much time I put into it but it wasn't very much. But, I'd say it's worth $10. I say that because the robot companions are pretty BA. I've got ADA maxed out with the best of everything and duel wielding laser miniguns, and I can pretty much just walk into any enemy base and stand there doing nothing while she reigns down hell on everything in her path. I plan on doing a playthrough where instead of the Mechanist stands down, I take the suit and take over the role as Mechanist and use Ada or another robot as my sidekick. -
QUIETER ROBOT COMPANIONS
TheOriginalEvilD replied to TheOriginalEvilD's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
It's probably classified as footsteps. -
For the love of god can someone please make a mod that quiets Ada and the other robots down? It's like traveling with a damn bulldozer next to me.

New DLC beat in 20 minutes, feel letdown
TheOriginalEvilD replied to WaRi0's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Well it certainly hasn't added any additional difficulty for me. These robots aren't any more challenging than anything else in the game. But, I am playing with a pretty high level character. They said this expansion was designed for level 15+ so maybe if I tried playing it at that low of a level it would be more of a challenge. -

TheOriginalEvilD replied to Boombro's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
So, like Stalker games? I think they are best with this kind of gameplay. Nice AI too. Never played them, but probably. I get what lomaxfalconer is saying, these survival elements do add a bunch of aggravation to the game, but then that's kind of the point of "survival". It's not supposed to be easy, it's not supposed to flow like a video game, because real life in a situation like that wouldn't flow, it would be constant tedious scraping to stay alive. It would make you think twice about what you're going to do when you wake up in the morning. I think what he's after is just a different type of higher difficulty that isn't really about survival, and I like that idea too. I'd like to see them both offered individually and at the same time. Fallout games always play the same way for me, because I almost always play as some kind of stealth character. For me to have challenge in these games, I'd have to deliberately play more recklessly and deliberately get myself caught in a firefight or something like that. When you max out stealth and snipe, and your perception is maxed out, you just get the jump on everything. Then the game literally because a point and click game. The problem with that is, I don't think jacking up the enemy's health to stop me from one shot killing things is the answer, because I think anything in this game should die from one single .50 cal shot to the head. So, to balance out being that lethal, there should be an equal amount of damage dealt to you, but there just isn't. The most dangerous thing in this game is being caught by a very high amount of radiation all at once without enough protection. On a similar note, I think it's kind of ridiculous to think you can run up to a Deathclaw and punch it in the face and kill it with one hit or even a few hits, but if you play your build right that's exactly what you can do. If I'm going to be able to punch that hard, there has to be some kind of equal risk being dealt back to me or the game just gets way too routine. If a grizzly bear can kill a man with one swipe of his paw, then a Deathclaw surely can too (as well as a yao gui for that matter). I think the highest difficulty level should essentially be a blow vs. blow one shot (or 2 or 3) death match. You take a few bullets to the torso or one shot to the head, you're dead. Simple as that. -

TheOriginalEvilD replied to Boombro's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I think what you want is just the second half of what survival should be about. I think the things they're giving it should happen...none of it sounds unrealistic for a true apocalyptic environment...you're not going to shoot a giant radation mutated mole rat and then eat raw meat right off of it without getting sick, that's just nonsense. You're not going to roam the wasteland for days at a time without sleeping or drinking water without losing health and other abilities. What you're talking about, IMO really should be part of the base game. I can't stand the health bar in these games. You can get sprayed by a minigun and jam a couple stimpacks in your arm and keep right on fighting. I want a serious damage system with serious consequences, and I wanna deal as much damage as I'm taking. Their method of increasing difficulty is to just make the enemy a bullet sponge. There should be more enemies along with greater difficulty. -

Does anyone use automatic weapons?
TheOriginalEvilD replied to infamousxiii's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I've been using the LK-05 mod and I even went in with FO4Edit and jacked up the firing rate even higher. I've also been playing with the Silver Submachinegun Receiver which adds a receiver for the submachinegun that bumps damage and fire rate a bit and makes it a much more viable gun late game, and can even be added to legendary weapons. Spray N' Pray plus that receiver is a lot of fun. I use the LK-05 with the Wounding effect and it's sweet. -
escorting kidnapped settlers back home >_<
TheOriginalEvilD replied to WaRi0's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
I've thought about this but never had one get killed on their way back yet. I usually fast travel back to the settlement to close the quest and that usually puts them instantly in the settlement when I get there. -
My hope and dream for each expansion...
TheOriginalEvilD replied to yzerman19's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Yeah I can't even remember how many mods I ran on FO3/NV and even Oblivion/Skyrim that required the expansion packs to use. -
I wonder.. is this really hardcore ?....
TheOriginalEvilD replied to RelicDuDe's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Fast travel is right up there with encumbrance that I struggle with all the time. The reality for me is I just don't have all that much time to play games, so I need to trim the fat somewhere and speed up the process a bit. When I can carry as much as I want, that at least means I don't have to make multiple trips to carry and sell loot. I will say this though, if you don't fast travel and you make it a point to clear out every location you come across as you come across them, you level up super fast and you get to know the map a lot better. I'm much more likely to play without fast travel on something like Oblivion or Skyrim, where there aren't sewer tunnel systems like FO3 had that are almost maze like to navigate through. -
Fallout 4 – Automatron Official Trailer is out

Anyone notice more sentry bots spawning? I'm finding them in areas that are normally full of super mutants.. -
I'd like a mod that makes the run speed faster in power armor. I'm too used to wearing body armor that increases my speed, so when I get in power armor I feel like I'm crawling.
