  1. Those who should hear, they'll hear nevermore,

    Destroyed, dispersed is the proud host of yore;

With thirteen thousand their trail they began,

Only one man returned from Afghanistan."

_ Theodor Fontane, Tragedy of Afghanistan, 1857

  2. OMG....I now officially feel OLD!!!! LOL If you went to Stanford University and had access to the "super" computers of that time (1970's) you could play Star Trek, except that you had to compute your own tragecteries! lolol Yeah, ok :  : not many relate to that, huh? Actually, it was my darling hubby that had that access. hehehe he was pretty much the nerdiest mathematician .

    Relate to what?

Wasn't the game actually called Klingdon's Attack (a galaxy subdivided into numerous to be searched quadrants, perhaps eponym of the later Klingons), and the year 1973, with students and training staff in front of terminals with nothing, not even an ash tray? LOL

However, that was three years after my 1st sign in here and 14 years before my birth. You see - there is always an older fish :woot:

  3. Yeah. What's life worth without a banana.... or two?

'Kill Bill' (2003/4). Great, Silver! :ninja:

I love both Uma Thurman as 'the Bride' and David Carradine in his role as more than just her godfather...

Well done combination of Nino Rota's godfather theme and 'Battle without honor and humanity'.

  4. pork isnt that unclean!

they bathe int he mud to stay clean and cool. and they eat the way they do because thats how we feed them

Jews and Muslims would see that totally different.

However, actually it's the question whether one wants to swim in the own grease one day or not...

DJ Ruby Rhod: There's the Emperor and his lovely daughter. "I love to sing," she recently confessed to me!

    [aside to Korben Dallas]

DJ Ruby Rhod: By the way, I have a recording of her talented voice...

[He touches a button on his cane. A recording plays]

Woman: [moaning] Uh-huh, oh yeah, uh-huh!

  7. You find the member ID on the TesNexus, FO3Nexus and DANexus Member profile pages (the links in the box below the member's photo on the member profile page) under Account Information.

To reach the member profile page just click on one of the light blue coloured usernames here in the forums.

  8. The new version of the profile starts with the Recent Status Updates (comments incl.), a box of merely secondary interest if one is primarily looking for a who's who or changes of the individual presentation on the About Me page (comments incl.), imo thus wrong placed in the load order due to its lower value of information.

  9. Is it perhaps possible that my IP has been blacklisted by the servers? I am most certainly not a spammer but the same thing happens on my fathers computer, and he has a completely different system, different anti-virus, different browser, and most importantly: a different OS (Windows XP)

We do, however, share the same 77.(etc) IP adress...

... and thus the same router, which would refer back to shared malware, for example.

However, the 2MB limit is apparently not unknown here, so there should be an internal server problem as well.

I've never experienced such a problem myself during all the years on the Nexus, so I'm almost at my wit's end. Sorry.

  10. Simply, the submit button will not work and I have no clue why. Its as if it were a grayed out button on a demo, it just doesn't work.

Guess as long as this button doesn't work, every modder goes on working for free... with pleasure :woot:

  11. Try out this (or another) Mozilla Support file, perhaps we've missed something up to now.

You're using AVG as anti-virus, and then there's also a chance that you're infected with something (both IE and Firefox fail), as several bad viruses just blow right past AVG, and it's not an adequate scanner imo. The first thing that you should download immediately is the free malwarebytes' anti-malware to make sure that your machine is clean.

  12. Yep, both Firefox and Internet Explorer refuse to work... the moment I select a download server: Firefox says: Connection Timed Out and Internet Explorer says: Connection Failed...

This machine came loaded with a free Norton? Firewall and other Security software checked?

Check System event logs for Internet service interruptions; to view the Windows Event Viewer Start > Run > eventvwr

  13. EDIT:

I have added the multi-string value with the help of Google :P

Unfortunately it did not work... :wallbash:

Also, I do not know if this value only helps with Firefox problems, but the problem also persists on Internet Explorer.

Value is related to the Firefox DNS problem. Already tried out Internet Explorer? Never heard of such a prob in connection with IE up to now.

  14. Already tried to delete your broken download stuff that's located in the temporary folder?

If memory serves, Firefox tries to connect for a mere 15 seconds before declaring an error and telling the user to try again. Thus you might add (or change) the following entry to your registry file:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\DNSQueryTimeouts

    Multi String: "4 8 8 16 32 0" (was "1 2 2 4 8 0")

  15. In the musical wake of the early Alice Cooper and the Hard Rock band Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath are considered the godfathers of metal.

According to this it must have been one of the tracks of the album Black Sabbath from 1969, probably already heard while still in my mother's womb 1986/7 :woot:

  16. Bah, it ain't retro unless it's 16 bit (or less) and 2D or less! ;)

Not really - the above mentioned wonderful Myst by Broderbund  is e.g. from 1993, when a lot of today Nexus friends were elsewhere but in front of the keyboard of a 16-bit Windows for Workgroups (if ever) DOS-line XMS computer... :woot:
