Could do a bunch of nice voice acting, except it'd only look like bad ventriloquism seeing as they wouldn't be moving their mouths. I know what you mean though. Sometimes the lack of speech detracts from something. Gotta take what you can get though.

Even if you can't get them to ride with you, dragging them along sounds like stupidly good fun as well.

porphiric hemophilla no more... how?
SandsOfTime404 replied to SolarFire's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Ahh, well looks like there's no point in wasting precious enchantment on disease resistance then. And yeah, I ended up getting the full package off of Steam recently to try Oblivion out on the PC. Not bad I have to say, but the Console Commands spoil me. Back on topic, though, the Vile Lair is included in the Deluxe and there's a pool located inside of it that you can activate to cure Vampirism. As I tend to avoid Porphyric Hemophilia and all that stuff I've yet to actually try it out, and cannot say whether or not it'll cure you multiple times or if it only works once. -
porphiric hemophilla no more... how?
SandsOfTime404 replied to SolarFire's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Well if you have the Vile Lair curing Vampirism isn't a problem at all. Also, if you get your disease resistance boosted up relatively high I believe that helps as well. Not 100% sure that resist disease prevents it, but seeing as it's a disease I'd think it would. I'll get back to you sometime when I know for sure, unless someone else is able to confirm/deny this before I do. -
Problem At Restoring Damaged Personality
SandsOfTime404 replied to muratguler's topic in Oblivion's Spoilers
Did you use modpca to set it above 100? I'm not sure if that's a reason but it may be why the game won't have it go back up. -
oblivion has started to ultra lag
SandsOfTime404 replied to superhacker101's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Are there any driver updates, etc. that you downloaded when you got the computer that may need to be reinstalled now that you've restored it? -
As Wasteland said, it may be best to just hold off on mods for a little bit. Getting a feel for the game in it's unspoiled form can't hurt, and if you go mod-crazy early on it tends to detract from the experience (in my opinion). I originally had Oblivion for the 360, and I loved it just fine. Console versions can't be modded like the PC version, and I noticed that something as simple as access to the CS really changed how I played the game on PC. That was before downloading some mods and fidgeting with every minute detail. It's your call though. Certain mods don't really affect gameplay too much. I downloaded the HG Eye Candy and a High-Rez skin texture pack for it pretty much before anything else. Of course those are both purely aesthetic in nature. Once you start adding in custom armors, weapons, etc., and things like OOO especially, the game really evolves.

NPC's Shrugging when idle.
SandsOfTime404 replied to Fragilicious's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
There may be a way if you set up another user account (e.g. Use an Administrator account, and activate the guest one). Not entirely sure if you can have two different versions. It might be possible if they're on separate partitions but it seems a little pointless to me. It's your memory space though. I'd try to just use a different User Account first though. The only issue is I believe both accounts will feed off of the same root folder, thus any mods you use on one will be there for the other. As I said though I've never tried it so it's worth a crack. -
Yeah, if it resolves when you leave the cell like it does for me then it's probably no big issue. It happens to me every once in a while, especially if I have a lot of other things running in the background. Never causes the game to crash or asplode so I don't think there's any reason for you to worry.
-
If that trick does work in Oblivion I've never seen it. Pretty sure you need to mod it. Either way it never bothered me. By the time I had anything worth more than the limit (that I was willing to part with) I was well enough off anyhow. Went on a crazy spree closing any and all Oblivion gates I found, but not before farming every last bit of Daedric out of them. God only knows how many sets I grabbed, but for whatever reason there weren't many shields. Intriguing, but at any rate 2000 gold from most vendors sufficed. I ended up having money left over anyhow. Then again, I rarely buy anything from vendors except ammo since they don't carry the higher levelled equipment. You gotta find that all yourself, and at that point it's virtually free.

Your Most Frustrating Oblivion Moments
SandsOfTime404 replied to Spl1nt3rC3ll's topic in Oblivion's Spoilers
Hmm, walking into a town and having everyone tell me how skilled I am. "You have the hands of an Illusionist." "You look skilled in Alteration." Look, tell me how you came to these conclusions. I wear gloves/gauntlets 98% of the time, and I've yet to discern any signs pointing towards someone being skilled in Alteration. I understand I've got the down solid. You don't need to tell me about it. If there was a mod to make it all stop I'd be downloading it instantly. Oh, and bugs where random doors lock for no reason whatsoever. I don't think I've been able to walk into the Mystic Emporium without breaking in. Sinderion also barricaded himself in his basement one time, however that was on the console version I've got so dunno if that counts. Just hope he starved down there. Never got to turn in my last batch of demon Nirnroots... -
I've had issues like that in random places everywhere. It doesn't happen often though so I thought nothing of it, and it seems to correct itself once I leave the cell (so no fussing with reloading the game). If it's really bad, as in severely affecting gameplay or totally taking a dump on your immersion then I'm not sure what you can do. Anytime I've encountered something like this it's been minor. However, if you don't have the latest patch for the game that could be an issue it fixes. I'm not sure as Steam updates mine automatically anyhow. If you've got Steam, you needn't worry. If not, then make sure you've got the patch.

Mud crabs. I'll be walking near a shoreline and that music that lets me know something is after me cues. I run around aimlessly for about a minute trying to figure out what in the world could be after me. Then I realize it's a mud crab, stuck between rocks...

I'm no guru, but I'm 99% certain that it's not "leaking" in the sense of an ink cartridge. Who knows? If you set the in-game options way past the specs of your computer that might be causing some problems, but I honestly don't know. I hope you find a solution though. Good luck.

Could someone identify a mod from an image I found?
SandsOfTime404 replied to Garnn's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Hard to tell. The picture doesn't reveal much. -
Hmm, I was in the Arena doing the final fight where Porkchop fights beside you, and the yellow mage ended up taking out their archer with a frost spell. :\ I guess teamwork wasn't in their job description.
-
Are you trying to play it with any mods enabled? If you didn't install 'em right they can really mess crap up. Check to make sure you've installed them properly (especially non-OMOD) and try again. If that's not the case, have you tried running it as an Administrator and going from there?

The fights that made me run like...heck...
SandsOfTime404 replied to majikmonkee's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
The Unicorn. Now there's a fearsome opponent. Ages back when I was relatively new to the game I had come across it. Killed a few minotaurs and it was just standing there. So I walked around it a few times, drew my weapon... nothing. Then I realized I could mount it. So here's me, possibly the biggest fruitcake in Cyrodiil now, riding up to Bruma on my lovely white unicorn. I get near the gates and there is someone walking past. Out of nowhere I am forcibly dismounted from the unicorn. When I made an attempt to get back on, I realized that the option was no longer there, and before I realized that my lovely unicorn had run off to begin murdering everything in sight. I was distraught. It killed the unfortunate passerby first, then proceeded to take out the guards posted at the gate. That's when the s*** really hit the fan. My precious unicorn, whom I had loved so much, turned on me. Naturally, I ran as fast as my fat legs would carry me, stopping at towns in the hopes of getting a few guards to pick it up and kill it, all of who met the same fates as those that challenged it before them. It wasn't until I reached Anvil that the thing finally died. It was indeed a sad day for us all. Oh, and Umbra was scary too. :D -
Help Me! Is It Possible To Change NPC's Looks?
SandsOfTime404 replied to Lishca's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Wasn't there a mod or something that gave you a spell that could be cast at the NPC to change their looks? I've never used it but could have sworn I'd seen something to that effect around here. -
Stupidest monster 'suicide'?
SandsOfTime404 replied to ptbptb's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Lol I personally like the Adoring Fan. Tell him to beat it, and he'll just go run off a cliff. Priceless. -
Is this another hoax? Please say it isn't!!!
SandsOfTime404 replied to Pineapplerum's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Eh, hoax or not I'm not going to read into it too much. Have done that with a few games that I couldn't wait for and in the end I realized I had only set my expectations too high. I'd rather wait and see it released than follow it around for disappointment. -
Concerning Basic Items In Oblivion
SandsOfTime404 replied to bryman1970's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Yeah, it just seems a shame ya know? So much potential. Of course I'm not Bethesda, nor could I design my way out of a paper bag, so I don't understand what limitations, if any, the vanilla game had that it was included. -
Concerning Basic Items In Oblivion
SandsOfTime404 replied to bryman1970's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Eh, the items aren't useless. It's ambience. :D Though I had always hoped that certain instruments could be used in conjunction with others to improve effectiveness of your skills, much like adding equipment on top of the mortar and pestle for Alchemy. Suppose it'd just make too much sense to have crystal balls boost the strength of your enchantments, or something to that effect. Something more useful than just fencing it. I also liked the point about selling stolen goods to regular merchants. In the interests of realism I think it's a good concept, but I suppose it's never bothered me that I can only sell to fences. It's not like anything I find in the houses is worth something, lol.
