  1. If they ever made an OMOD-to BAIN converter I'd adopt it, but with 300 or so OMODS around and only two of the scripted ones even remotely BAINable without learning the whole lot, of cOURSE I stick with OBMM
  2. I think that's part of the joy of Oblivion ... in the real world things happening can make other things impossible. I'd like to see more conflicting quests, so that doing one automatically screws another one up ... but that's just my own preference
  3. The thing I'm getting annoyed about (probably because I'm in a Victor Meldrew kind of mood) is having to wade through 15 extra races which are added to my initial options purely because the modmaker has a npc of a new variant race and hasn't worked out how to make it work unless they make it playable. I think the first one was the mod that customised Uriel and Martin Septim to look like Patrick Stewart and Sean Bean, and added both of them as separate playable races! When you get to some bigger mods, they add things like Beautiful People or Race Balancing Project as pre-requisites, and hence I get a shedload of variants on mystic elves and enough static hairs to supply several wigmaker's shops.

OK, maybe I'm just suffering from being an old curmudgeon.

  4. I think the White tailtip is something that's personal taste - I'd personally go for a cream or something more in that shade range, as our next-door cat has a tain with a pale tip like that.

I was apparently confuzzling two mods on the tails - there's one tail retexture (sadly with an even bigger white tip) which otherwise blends in the base of the tail much better (like this) and one other mod which changes the start point of the base a little (like this), and looks marginally better placed to my non-biologist's eye. I guess different racial variants could have different shaped / shaded tails. Either way, textures are a personal taste thing, but the body is what we're hoping to get looking a little more "correct".

As for taking up a slot in the mod order, hopefully any optional body tweaks would be incorporated into the one "do argonian and/or khajiit and/or whatever" esp file, as long as we could obtain permission. Failing that, we work out how to merge the mods using TES4Gecko or something, and post instructions so people can blend their own esps.

<Note to self - WHY do you only spot typos AFTER you click the 'Submit' button?>

  5. Having browsed the mods for Khajiit textures yesterday, there's one mod which also shifts the tail mesh so it looks like it comes from the tailbone, not something stuffed up the poor cat's butt. I think that is an improvement we should aim to include too, if possible. Not sure whether there's a similar mod for Argonians - I personally think they should have a thicker, taller tail - more dinosaur-like.

Animations - should Argonians and Khajiits have altered running animations?

    Comments?

  6. Quest? There are QUESTS? Darn - THAT'S what I'm doing wrong! :wallbash: I thought the idea was to collect and install as many mods as possible before borking the game and having to start again :teehee:

... think it was Unfriendly Competition, but it WAS a while back now. Go Fish was the second for me,

  7. Ferryt - you mean REAL girls don't walk like in the "sexy walks"? I'm shocked! :D (The first time I saw the package installed and saw a female guard in full mail walking like that I nearly died laughing! They look even stupider without high heels, which might at least explain some of the silly movement!)

BACTrooper - Basically, Sexy walks = stereotypical exaggerated hooker man-enticing walks. The Sensual walks mod has some more natural ones, but the defaults are still set up to "hookerworld". Add Colourwheel's clothing mods and it looks like Soho, London on a Saturday night

  8. The most accurate female body replacer is generally thought to be Roberts female body. Exnem's female body is also popular, and has given rise to the "Eye candy" variants such as HGEC for those who like to be able to give their females oversized silicone breasts and big butts.

There are various texture replacers around for each of the body types - they give higher resolution or better looking or just plain different skin shading.

As for faces, for NPCs look for TNR, and for your own character look for either Beautiful People or Race rebalancing Project, both of which seems to make it easier to get a prettier end result. Nothing much helps an Argonian, though ...

  9. I've got the Race Rebalancing Project installed, and (like Beautiful People) it adds a few extra races, including assorted elf variants. Which races are "lore compliant" and which are "just tacked on cos they look cool", and how do I go about disabling the latter in race menu, without screwing up their use in people's mods?
  10. Start with Oblivion, then Shivering Isles (if installing it), then the official patch to either Oblivion or both files. Then add Knights of the Nine and any other DLC addons. Add the unofficial patch and the unofficial mods patches, to get a "Vanilla install" starting point. Other mods opinions vary about load order - some suggest leaving the DLC mods til later, but I've not had a problem yet.

Group your mods to decide which ones will affect each other

    - overhaul mods like OOO, MMM and Frans with FCOM inter-react somewhat and the result may alter some of the settings introduced by any of them - I suggest doing those as a group and making sure THAT works but some others suggest leaving them til later and doing as a group.

    - world mods like Better Cities and Unique Landscapes often overlap and need patches. Other big quest mods or add-on castle mods also can inter-react with them. Again, best installed as a group.

    - Graphical and environmental mods - should be able to apply at any time, but leave until near the end as other mods may overwrite textures with their own versions.

    - Body mods - install as and when - bear in mind some bodies may require clothing mods too or you'll make a vanilla skirt look like fetishwear on some bodies.

That's more or less the basic order I use. Obviously use BOSS and Wrye Bash to sort the load order and free up ESP spaces

The only reason to tweak the ini file SHOULD be to change options in the memory or display sections that you cannot adjust using the in-game settings menu. Be careful - you can bork your setup if you edit the wrong value.
