  1. On a note of semi-realism - some very basic spells might be considered "cantrips" - the kind of thing that are common knowledge in a fantasy world. Anything more than a basic "light the fire" spell (flash?) is, probably, outside the range of cantrips though. Maybe guild members should gain a more powerful version of the basic cantrip type spells? Maybe it should also include a requirement for at least one spell in each school of magic (apart from Necromancy)? That would fit with a guild which is trying to limit its membership to those who are actually capable in some way.
  2. WHY don't people read the sticky topics? Fast Exit 2 (which requires OBSE) If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7and are thinking of modding, do yourself (and us, because you'd no doubt be asking for help with it later) a BIG favour and use Bben46's guide here to move the game from the default install position to C:\Games\Oblivion. That stops the UAC from mucking up just about every mod you try to use, including (sometimes) official patches. Many mods will require you to be patched to version 1.2.0416, and a lot will require the Shivering Isles expansion - if you don't already have Shivering Isles, buy it and add it to the game, THEN patch it (otherwise you'll need to uninstall and reinstall from scratch to add Shivering Isles later). I strongly suggest adding the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (UOP), the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch (UOSP), and (if you have Knights of the Nine and/or any of the official downloadable content files, the Unofficial Official Mods Patch (UOMP), plus the Unofficial Patch Supplementals and the UOP Dark Sister Voice Fix. They between them bugfix several thousand bugs and errors, and make the game much better to play. Other "essential" mods are Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE), and then Fast Exit and Windom Earle's Oblivion Crash Prevention System (weOCPS) - the pair of those greatly aid stability and stop many of the more common crash scenarios from wrecking your game.
  3. You probably need to install Oblivion, THEN Shivering Isles, THEN apply the official Shivering Isles patch. Don't patch Oblivion before adding Shivering Isles You are also on Windows 7 - this can cause massive problems with installing mods - AND official DLCs - follow the reinstall procedurte listed below to shift your game directory, then try. Cut'n'paste from my generic recommended basic setup follows If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7and are thinking of modding, do yourself (and us, because you'd no doubt be asking for help with it later) a BIG favour and use Bben46's guide here to move the game from the default install position to C:\Games\Oblivion. 4. (1) Are there two discs in the set? If it's like the Game of the Year edition, then there should be TWO discs - the other will have the Oblivion installer on it. (2) Use Bben46's guide to uninstall and clean the registry from your previous attempt(s) - then start again installing to C:\Games\Oblivion (NOT repeat NOT to Program files\Oblivion or My Games\Oblivion) (3) A No DVD crack SHOULDN'T have caused THIS problem, but will stop official patches working, and may possibly affect OBSE and OBGE stuff. 5. @HeyYou - ok, fixed that - that's strange as I remember cut'n'pasting that chunk of code from LHammond's site and didn't even think to check it. OK - tried running it, and got this: Error in script Invalid argument to function 'InstallPlugin' This function cannot be used on plugins stored in subdirectories on line 34 <sigh> Back to the function listing I guess. :wallbash: CopyPlugin perhaps?
  6. I like the re-design for the site, apart from one (not immediately obvious) point. You've set a fixed width, but have picked (I suspect) 1024 pixels, which is the old de facto standard. However, most newer PCs are likely to be supplied with HD ready monitors, with a width of 1920 pixels. When the new site is shown, it either sits as a bar up the middle of the screen, or (if you use Windows 7 auto-dock feature to select half of the screen width) chops the edge of the right-hand column off. Maybe it might be better to aim for a width of 960 pixels and lose the chopping and scroll bar?
  7. Try either Kingston or Crucial memory sites - you should be able to enter the board number, and it'll pick compatible memory - then compare the spec. The things to watch are: Speed (PC2-5300 or whatever), DDR2 or DDR3, ECC or non ECC, registered or non-registered. As long as those four sets of details match, it SHOULD work.
  8. Traditional gardening fertilizers include burying a dead cat or similar creature when planting a grape vine. Bonemeal is, of course, obvious, but dead fish should also be a good "starter". How about a 25% plant size increae for the fertilized plants? As for the "WHERE did I bury it?" problem " how about adapting the wooden road signs mod resources, make them about lolly stick sized, turn then through 90°, and stick them in the ground labelled with the plant name?
  9. Looks great. All you need now is a re-jigged sewer which doesn't need the water to climb stairs and cross a bridge to get out of the sewer pipe!
  10. I'd also suggest other guilds/factions could do with entry requirements - the Blackwood Company for instance. I like the idea a lot :)
  11. OK - I think this makes some kinda sense - can you scripting experts give it a once-over and see whether I've made any fundamental errors, please? OK - why the heck can't I find a way to paste this code as INDENTED code - I tried the Code tags and got it all on one line. Rssn Frssn text editor
  12. You need the correct patch for the version you have installed. For JUST Oblivion, you want the UK or US version patch (pick the correct one). For Shivering Isles, you want ONLY the SI patch, NOT the Oblivion one. No CD patches will change the file so it cannot be patched. Steam will be auto-patched. D2D and Impulse - check their sites for patches. Any remaining source other than official disks - ask the source for help.
  13. I was finding the links via Google - the ones from the main wiki all point to the old location too. Thanks for the updated link.
  14. I tried building an OMOD as above, and both esps activated fine and remained activated. Where are you checking that they are activated? Oblivion? OBMM? Wrye Bash?
  15. I'm trying to find a working tutorial for OMOD scripting. All the links I can find either give you code snippets, assuming you have already worked out a simple script, or point to LHammonds tutorial pages which appear to have moved with no link updates. What I am attempting to do is write an OMOD script for a BAIN-ready package (Integration - the Stranded Light - Integrated), so I need to be able to handle choices in the installation options, AND make sure the files end up in Oblivion\Data\whatever, and not Oblivion\Data\Data\whatever (which the only OMOD script for Roberts Male Body v5 does - I had to manually install it eventually). I've used BAIN installers, but have reverted to OMOD as it makes the process simple. Assume I know NOTHING - dictate the process as if to a two-year-old child. The folder structure I am working with is: 01 - Resources 02 - Enhanced Gameplay - Plugin here 02 - No Gameplay Changes - Alternate Plugin here 03 - Body Mod Support - Exnem & variants (HGEC, Growlf) 03 - Body Mod Support - Fantasy Figures 03 - Body Mod Support - Robert's female 04 - Body Mod Support - Robert's Male 05 - Daedra Seducer Wings and Animation I assume that, for options 03, 04 and 05, I will also need an option to select "Vanilla" (no changes)
  16. Search for "All Male bodies" - sadly it's a slightly more complex installation process as there is either a BAIN version or a Manual version - no scripted OMOD :(
  17. As predicted, they are different structures. Masque is fine - it unpacks to an esp, plus meshes and textures folders. Converse unpacks to a data folder containing the meshes and textures folders and the esp. I suggest you unpack both to separate folders, then drag the CONTENTS of the Data folder from Converse to Masque - and it should tell you it wants to merge the Textures and the Meshes folders. Then make an OMOD of the Masque folder, which now contains both. Incidentally, why not have two separate OMODs - it makes no difference to Oblivion as it doesn't see the OMOD file, just the esp and data files.
  18. You could try running TES4LODGen... That'll regenerate the files and may fix things.
  19. Check the structure of your mods - see if one of them had a stray "Data" folder. That will show up as another Data folder INSIDE your Oblivion/Data folder. Many mods are packaged...er...oddly and have to be adjusted before an OMOD build works correctly
  20. Well, other than Salmo the Baker (known to cause crashes for no real reason - no-one has ever sussed out why) I can't see anything odd there. Personally, I'd add OBSE (if not already there), then Fast Exit 2 and Windom Earle's Oblivion crash Prevention system. The crash MAY be related to something graphical - have you run TES4LODGen? Try setting minimum graphical quality and see if it manages to not crash - if so, I'd also suggest PYFFIing your meshes to reduce graphical load. Compared with MY usual FCOM build for the Bashed Patch: • Import Factions - UN-CHECK "Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul.esp" • Import Relations - UN-CHECK "Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul.esp" and "Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul.esm" (I based my build on the instructions at http://superpackden.mastertopforum.net/gt-installation-guide-lt-vt3.html )
  21. Alternatives for "race packs" are the Race Rebalancing Project, and Modular Beautiful People. For the female bodies, there is an Eye candy Compilation pack someplace, allows you to pick and choose. Remember for body replacers, you will need to install matching armour replacers or the changes won't show unless they are naked.
  22. If you are on Windows 7 or vista, move Oblivion to C:\Games\Oblivion, or the User Account Control stops it from updating the ini file and saving settings. There's a step-by-step guide to moving your installation at Bben46's Reinstall Guide. Then install OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) , and two mods called "Fast Exit 2" and "Windom Earle's Oblivion Crash Prevention System". Those will stop the game falling over on exit. Now you should be able to save your graphics settings on exit, and restart with them set correctly.
  23. In the OBGE core package is a folder with the missing directx dll. Copy it to the correct place in your windows installation if needed (I suspect the details are in the readme html file provided with OBGE - you DID read it, did you?)
  24. I spend a fair bit of time roleplaying a character. But I've also added a few other "big quest" mods which added a lot of complexity to the game, and have virtually ignored the main questline.
  25. How to take screenshots - pinned topic
