  1. Oblivion the Beautiful thread at the Bethesda Softworks forum should help you out.
  2. Just select BSA Redirection and you're good to go. That option isn't necessary. Well, if you're up for reading what that's all about, CLICK HERE.
  3. I don't think it's unusual to have such a big Oblivion folder, specially if you tend to mod your game a lot. I'm already at 13Gb right now and I haven't added any big overhaul yet. Though I'm planning to install Elsweyr soon. @Lehcar: What is your mod installation method of choice? Do you install them all manually, by OBMM or BAIN? Personally, I find BAIN the most helpful in sorting out which files came from which mod and which mods have what conflicting files. I think it can clean up your Data folder pretty thoroughly. It will require you to have the original archives of the mods you're using at hand though.
  4. The body replacer mods might affect FPS since they have a higher polygon count than the original ones. I wouldn't recommend using OBGE on older computers as well. Unique Landscapes mods may also affect frame rate. You might also want to try these mods: Economy adjustment: Enhanced Economy No more psychic guards: Reneers Guard Overhaul Improved menus: DarNified UI
  5. That looks great! Brought to you by the National Geographic Society of Cyrodiil. I wonder... that could be a running gag in the imageshare section!
  6. Give a beggar in-game 10,000 septims and still he's going to be a beggar the next day and beg you for another coin.
  7. I don't think it's possible with Oblivion's game engine. But this thread deserves a song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL7n5mEmXJo
  8. Daedric Alphabet on the UESP  It's made up.
  9. There's no need to be dogmatic about Bethesda's lore. As has been mentioned before, even Bethesda contradicts their own lore at times. Lore is just there to give the imagined world of Tamriel a certain setting - a feel for the time, place and culture where your character is supposed to be in. I see no reason why someone with a fresh imagination and a gift for storytelling can't add to the Elder Scrolls lore, as unofficial as it may be. If someone can make a compelling mod about the Aedric and Daedric planes in Nirn's moons, I surely would play it.
  10. If it's not in the vanilla Skyrim game, I vote for a fishy stick mod to be the first mod in Skyrim Nexus!
  11. umm... magick? :psyduck: It could be done in a more lore friendly way but won't fit in OP's concept though. Source
  12. Yep, as posted above definitely get BOSS as it automates sorting the mod load order for you. :)
  13. There is this thread called "Oblivion the Beautiful" in the official Bethesda forum for Oblivion mods. You might want to check it out. Pardon for the lack of links, though.
  14. I think you're in the right direction, and welcome to Oblivion modding. :) There's always that learning curve to deal with at the beginning but soon you'll get the hang of it. Everybody here has paid their dues one way or the other to get their game the way they want. A little history about the unofficial patches to help you on your modding, according to my limited recollection: UOP - Unofficial Oblivion Patch 3.2.0 - deals with patches to bugs in the original Oblivion game (w/o Shivering Isles) after Bethesda released their final patch 1.2.xxx. USIP - Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch 1.4.0 - deals with patches to bugs in the Shivering Isles expansion after Bethesda released their final patch 1.2.xxx. UOMP - Unofficial Official Mods Patch 15 - deals with patches to bugs in the official DLCs. UOPS - Unofficial Oblivion Patch Supplementals 3.3.7 - deals with more bugs found in the original Oblivion game, the Shivering Isles expansion and some of the official DLCs after the original authors of the unofficial patches, Quarn and Kivan, took a break from Oblivion modding. This part of the unofficial patches is contributed by Arthmoor and is considered as the most up-to-date bug patch. It still requires you to install the original unofficial patches before you install this one. You can also check out the official Bethesda forum for Oblivion mods as it seems Kivan, is currently back in Oblivion modding and is preparing an update to the unofficial patch/es.
  15. It could be a permissions issue if your installation is inside the Program Files folder. Folder permissions issues will really screw up your mods. Just install Oblivion outside the Program Files folder and you should be able to mod your game relatively headache free. :) Wrye Bash should automatically read the Bash Tags from the BOSS masterlist file. You won't have to manually copy them for each esp. You can get more Wrye Bash tips and tricks from alt3rn1ty's Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide.
  16. When using Windows Vista or Seven, it is strongly suggested to install Oblivion outside of the Program Files folder as the UAC permissions will interfere with modding in that folder. Something like "C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\" will work.
  17. Here's another mod with the ripply refraction effect -> Better Summon Undead Effects. You might get more information from that.
  18. No wonder you had problems. Moving the folders around is the problem. Do a proper uninstall from Program Files and a new install on somewhere like "C:\Games\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\". You have to remember that when installing the game, the installer adds Windows registry entries which point to the installation folder. The registry stuff isn't updated when you move folders around after the installation that's why Windows can't find your Oblivion data.
  19. Blasphemy!! That would definitely open the gates to Oblivion! :pinch:
  20. Wrye Bash's Bashed Patch has a tweak that adjusts NPC's greeting distance, perhaps changing it to the least possible distance would help minimize NPC greetings.
  21. Are you using other OBGE shaders? Your game looks kinda green. I can't say I've encountered your graphic glitch though. Maybe try turning off other OBGE shaders if you are using any.
  22. You might have installed Oblivion in your C:\Program Files\ folder. Doing this causes a lot of problems for those who want to mod their games when using Windows Vista or Seven because of the UAC. I suggest you reinstall your game somewhere else like C:\Games\Oblivion. That should take care of the folder permissions problems.
  23. Try searching for the RealSwords series of mods by Walx at TESNexus. They're really good. Also Armamentarium Complete adds a lot of leveled weapons and armors.
