  1. right just to confirm that you have done this correctly: Go Here: C:\Users\Your Computer Name\Documents\My Games\Fallout4 Open Fallout4Custom.ini: and ensure the below exists in this file, and is written as is. (also ensure that the actual file is written as is, the Fallout 4 Ini files might be case sensitive) [Archive]sResourceDataDirsFinal= bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 and in the Fallout4.ini Ensure that sResourceDataDirsFinal= <-- (is written as is for both instances, so nothing is written after the = ) Note: you did not specify what you wrote in the Fallout4Custom.ini, so thats why i wrote it again, invisible weapons can be caused by the lines above not being present or written correctly, what i wrote is correct, and how it should be written. also you are using an older version of Nexus Mod Manager, might be a potentional chance it is not installing mods correctly, try installing them a few times just to ensure (by right clicking on them, and clicking on Uninstall, then do the same again, but click on Install) Download the Latest Version of Nexus Mod Manager From Here: https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/Nexus-Mod-Manager/releases i got work now i will be back in a few hours.
  2. windows closely guards the C:Drive, as this is the typical location viruses aim for, as such windows implements security to protect the C:Drive what this means for modding, is windows will be funny about any content that is installed anywhere inside the C:Drive. and uses a permission system as well as windows defender (microsoft own firewall and antivirus system), to prevent unauthorized access to the C:Drive now their are simple methods to grant full access to the C:Drive: 1. turn of User Account Control (this will weaken security, but at same time grant more freedom, only do this if you are experienced with computers, and understand security) 2. Take Ownership of the C:Drive and all content Stored on the C:Drive (understand this is very risky to users that do not understand or have little knowledge on computer security, doing this will weaken the security, and as such only super users/ computer administrators that have a lot of knowledge on computer security should even think about doing this, taking full ownership of the C:Drive and its contents, will grant you full access to your system, but at same time will allow viruses and other malicious content also have full access to your C:Drive) so it is highly recommended to install both the Game, Steam and Mods to any other Harddrive that is not the OS Drive (the harddrive that windows is installed to) <-- doing so will grant much more freedom to mods, and programs, and greatly prevent potentional issues that could arise by windows security. for the record windows 10 is much more harsh on security then windows 7 (this is a good thing but also annoying at the same time) on windows 7 you have much more freedom, but at same time so do viruses, however if you fully understand computers and security, your chances of getting viruses and other malicious content is very slim on windows 7. Example, i have been on windows 7 for over 8 years with no protection whatsoever, and my machine has never been infected, and is still running the same as the day it was first installed, just have to be careful even paranoid about what you do with your machine and fully understand computing and security. " Just how bad is this for trying to mod the game?" not that bad actually, its just programs will have problems, not the game or mods themselves however. programs such as wrye bash, possibly f4se etc etc, however you might get issues with installing mods, but its unlikely (atleast on windows 7) windows 10 however may be pretty bad, as the security on their as said is much more strict. from what i remember (i only used it for a week however) things may of changed.
  3. can you post your mod list, including links to said mods giving you problems, and we will go from there. modding is a game in itself, 1 of the hardest games out there. can take a very long time to master, and even then you will learn new things.
  4. no probs, also it doesn't matter how skilled you are to a point, you are still limited to the very thing you are working with, in this case fallout 4's gamebyro engine (and in this instance, papyrus), running many heavily scripted mods is bound to cause issues skyrim suffered the same fate, with people posting frequent CTDs caused by Sex Lab. these games just don't do well with many heavily scripted mods. bare in mind the base game already has many scripts.
  5. i recommend downloading F04Edit if you dont have it already F04Edit = https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2737 now open it, right click on the Plugins/Master Selection Window - click on select none - now you will need to load each mod individually, by only selecting them. now on the left pane, click on the little plus sign next to the mod - now you are looking for an entry called *Cell*, if the mod does not have this entry, then you can close FO4Eedit, and follow the same method above, do this until you find each mod with cell entries, then when you do, click on the little plus sign next to Cell, and check em all until you notice all placed items you are seeing in game, this is the only way to find out which mod is placing an abundance of items in a single spot. Note: only the mod should be selected in FO4Edit (Master/Plugin Selection window) FO4EDit will automatically load any other mod that the selected mod requires. Note: you can actually load all of your mods at once if you want, this will speed up the process of checking for cell entries, however if you wanted to remove the cell entries, you must only load the single mod that adds them.
  6. Go Here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4 Open: enbseries.ini - try disabling either Bloom or Adaption. Example: EnableBloom=true (Change to False) EnableAdaptation=true (Change to False) i have a feeling it is 1 of them settings, more likely to be bloom, but might be adaption alternatively to ensure that it might be the ENB open enbseries.ini: [GLOBAL]UseEffect=true (Change to false) <-- completely disables the enb effects (or alternatively, moving both the d3d11.dll and d3dcompiler_46e.dll files out of fallout 4's root folder will completely disable the ENB)
  7. same as above, i am going to assume 4play is exactly that, which means it will most likely include scripts, which also means it cannot simply be disabled, the scripts bake into the save file, which means they will still be active even after the mod has been disabled, that also means the game will now try to load non-existant scripts, which will most likely lead into script overflow, which will probably lead into save bloat, and then finally save game corruption, which sounds like where your save games are heading, because of the frequent crash to desktop and nature of them. as said a new game is your only option, you can still keep sim settlements, but you will have to test to see if this mod runs fine on a new game. a good way to know if you have save bloat, is by checking the size of your save games, if they are very big, compared to recent saves, then that is a sign of save bloat. save bloat (caused by script issues) almost always leads to save game corruption
  8. i had a look and could not find such mod, as such I took the liberty of making it for ya Here: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/34055/
  9. given the fact that you mention the crashes happen at specific times and area based, would definitely lead me to believe these are script based issues. now the issue with this, is you cant simply disable/delete the scripted mod and continue on your active play through as the scripts will be baked into the save file. you will need to disable/delete them and start a fresh new game. it is possible that sim settlements could be the cause of the CTDs, as i would imagine it to be script intensive, not too mention i have watched a play through and the guy also used sim settlements and was getting very frequent CTDs, however since removing the mod, the CTDs went as well (however the guy had many workshop mods on top of this, so it may of even been a conflict, or simply pushing papyrus too hard). the chances will rise, depending on how many scripted mods you have, and how frequent they activate. as papyrus is pretty fragile, like the engine. also that mod list is no good, i need the mods in order that you have them, but anyway, the only thing you can do to see if it is indeed a script based issue, is to disable all scripted mods (or atleast sim settlements to start with), and start a new game, and see if you can get any further.
  10. 1 thing to understand about dark images is that every person has different monitors, so what may seem dark on some, will seem light on others. example: IPS (In plane switching) panels, produce realistic shadows, thus making images considerably darker, but with more colour. (in other words, these panels produce much better black colour. thus making dark areas much darker) then you have TN (twisted nematic) panels, which for the most part produce poor shadow quality, thus making images considerably brighter. (in other words, these panels produce bad black colour. thus making dark areas much brighter) - meaning black is more like dark grey, thus brighter then true black. then of course you have many other panel types, which will most likely alter the image dramatically, such as OLED and HDR panels. so i would assume that the majority of dark images, would be of people who have TN panels. since even dark images are clearly visible on these panels, not too mention TN panels are much cheaper, and have far superior input delay, thus making it ideal for fast paced games.
  11. 1st, papyrus logs are largely useless information for the end user, their mainly for those that work with scripts, so they can test to see if their scripts are functioning correctly, in fact its more for bethesda. hence the reason papyrus logging is disabled by default. papyrus logging can also cause game crashes, believe or not (at least it could in skyrim, so theirs a good chance here as well, especially as fallout 4 is much more demanding then skyrim). what is the nature of your Crash to Desktop, is it random, specific areas, or triggers when doing specific activities ? can you post your mod list, so we can see if their are potential conflicts, and to see if the load order is correct, both of which would cause all sorts of issues (CTD, Freeze, Low Performance) if conflicts or incorrect load order = true. if you used loot to sort your load order, then it will most likely be incorrect, as loot only sorts the master files, it is not as reliable as it once was on skyrim. for fallout it is only used for checking dirty mods.
  12. this: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2224 only mod i can think of that comes close to your description
  13. i am going to assume it is caused by mods that modify the mesh files for clothes and or armor, the modified mesh for the clothes and or armor is not correct for the custom body you are using. in other words if you use a mod that changes the clothes mesh files, they must be bodyslide to your custom body. (basically you are using clothing for vanilla bodies, but your custom body is cbbe, thus causing texture blend issue) going to guess it is something to do with the unique player mod. if it is i cant help with that. so basically this is what i think is happening: 1. you bodyslided the vanilla clothing to what you thought was you custom body (Unique Player Mod) 2. the bodyslide files modified the clothing for the default cbbe body, which is not the 1 you are using 3. thus meaning you are wearing clothing for the vanilla body on your cbbe body, which is likely causing vanilla textures blending into the cbbe textures ^^ just to confirm or deny this, can you check to see if any female npc is also having the same texture issue.
  14. it might be possible for the in game mods option, to mess up the load order, which could then cause all sorts of issues, such as mod conflicts, etc. have you downloaded any mods from anywhere else other then the nexus. IE: bethesda.net if so can you list only these mods from other sites that is not from the nexus. as for getting crashes viewing bobbleheads, this would lead me to believe that their is corrupted nif files (corrupted mesh files, only applicable if the game crashes every single time when viewing these), in this case for the bobbleheads. this would lead to pink textures/ exclamation marks on the object, or simply game crashes. it might be possible that a mod that edits the bobbleheads them selves included corrupted nif files, although that is a pretty low chance, unless the author messed up the upload. in fact can you post your entire mod list, as i have not seen it yet, and i will advise on it. i can check for potential conflicts, as well as see if the load order is correct, etc etc. (a correct load order is mandatory for a stable, crash free game  )
  15. can you link us to said .json mods, as well as your load order. so we can see if you have all the requirements for said mods that use .json files
  16. i believe you need F4SE (Fallout 4 Script Extender) and Looksmenu (if the .json files you are referring to are character presets, then you definitely need both files mentioned here) F4SE = http://f4se.silverlock.org download - Extract - Copy all contents to your fallout 4 root folder, (overwrite where necessary) from their on out, launch the game via the f4se_loader (located in the fallout 4 root folder) to load .json files. Looksmenu: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12631 install via nexus mod manager
  17. First get Amazing Follower Tweaks, and then you can set a dismissed companion home to absolutely anywhere. Amazing Follower Tweaks: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26976 along with that i highly recommend Sanctuary Hot Springs (Has all vanilla Crafting workbenches inside the main building - Custom Chemistry Lab, Armor Workbench, and Weapon Workbench, as well as a Custom Cooking Workbench) it also has a bedroom area, a showers area, an armory area, and a nice living room area, and workstation area (where you can put all workbenches in, including those that have been added by the dlc, and AWKCR if you have that mod). my favorite custom home mod by far. this home also has a workshop, so you can fully re-decorate it. its big enough, to be ideal for 5+ companions, and dogmeat, and of course yourself. Sanctuary Hot Springs :https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/17575 Note: You Need Amazing follower Tweaks so you can set custom homes for the followers i believe
  18. Go here: C:\Users\Your Computer Name\Documents\My Games\Fallout4 Ctrl + F (bScreenSpaceBokeh=1) - Change to 0 If using ENB: Go to fallout 4 root folder - Open enbseries.ini - scroll down until you find this (EnableDepthOfField=true) - change to false if Using Reshade: Go to fallout 4 root folder - double click on Reshade Folder - Double Click on *McFx* - Ctrl + F (USE_DEPTHOFFIELD 1) Change to 0 Note: Pressing Ctrl + F = Search / Find Note: bDoDepthOfField (In fallout4prefs.ini) is not for depth of field, it is the blur effect you get when using the pipboy (technically it is depth of field, but only when the pipboy is open), disabling this will allow you to see clearly when using the pipboy, but will disable underwater effects. Screenspacebokeh is the proper depth of field that fallout 4 uses. all of the above completely disables depth of field, the focus affect you are referring to
  19. i take it you are on windows 10, and said files are on your C:Drive, which is protected by windows 10 security, (User Account Control) is possibly blocking modification of sensitive documents due to where they are placed. in other words, windows 10 changes permissions for files, documents, etc etc on any file that happens to be on C:Drive, which is why people recommend not installing to your C:Drive. Note: even with full permission, windows 10 can still block modifications, to documents, possibly caused by windows defender. however all of this only applies to anything on the C:Drive (Main OS Drive) placing anything on any other drive, has no restrictions, unless setup manually by the user. probably some kind of anti-virus protection a few things you can try: 1. Turn of User Account Control - Click on Start - Control Panel - User Accounts - Click on Change User Account Control Settings - Drag the Slider Down to Never Notify - Click on Ok - Restart Your Machine - Try Changing The Fallout4.ini files again. let me know if the above works, if not we will continue.
  20. probably load order, i can already see problems 1. vivid landscapes should not be right down the bottom of the load order. retexture mods do not need high priority. especially when you do have mods that should be down the bottom but are not. as such it should be in the middle or higher in the load order (their sole purpose is to replace vanilla textures, and as such, the vanilla textures are in the fallout 4 master files (Right at the Very Top of the Load Order), so retexture mods only need to be placed below these, below other ESM but near the very top) 2. scrap everything should be right down the bottom of the load order. (1 Above Start Me Up, as Start Me Up is in the correct place) 3. you are missing part 3 of FlaconOil Retexture Project. 4. All Craftable Armor, Weapons, Clothing etc etc, Should be near the bottom of the load order, basically any mod that adds stuff to any of the Workbenches (As In Chemistry Lab or any of the Armorsmith Workbenches). 5. Weapon mods, should be even closer to the bottom of the load order then craftable gear. (Weapon mods as in, extended weapons mods, scopes, basically mods that add new stuff for weapons) 6. Armorsmith Extended should be near the bottom of the load order as well, as it adds stuff to all vanilla clothing/arrmor, etc etc, as such it should have high priority. 7. Craftable Armor Size mod is made redundant by the latest version of AWKCR (Armor weapons and keywords community Resource - Simply Called *ArmorKeywords.Esm*) 8. I Dont Believe Remove Interior Fog is Compatible with Enhanced Lights and Fx. and probably that Dynamic Lighting Mod you have, which might also conflict with ELFX (depending if said mod uses custom lights or not) 9. Enhanced Lights and FX probably Conflicts with f4nnson's Lighting Tweaks mod, since they both edit Interior Lighting
  21. sResourceDataDirsFinal= should be underneath [Archive] not next to it, example you posted it like this: [Archive]sResourceDataDirsFinal= but it should look like this [Archive] sResourceDataDirsFinal= anywho here is all the armor and clothing mods i currently use that are for both female and male characters (Note: i play as a female character exclusively, and have many female followers, as such the majoirity of armor and clothing mods i use, are for female only, but their is quite a few that are for both sexes, as such this will be the ones i will highly recommend you) Armor Mods - Unisex - (I Am a big fan of all of Niero's And The Kite's Latest work, very Top Notch Armor and Clothing mods and all other mods listed here). The Rest of armor and clothing mods i use, are also top notch work, however they are for female only. and most are of the skimpy variety Other Mods Theirs a few mods to get you started, Armor + Clothing, Visual Enhancements + Weapons Mods, these mods will make the biggest difference, visually  if you want any more recommendations, let me know on what specific type of mods you are looking for, as said i have over 500 mods, so not really wise for me to post the entire mod list here xD Note: all 4 texture mods will cover almost the entire game in far superior textures. (I Recommend either the 2k Or 4k Options where Applicable) Note: in the weapons image: ignore the (My Esp Replacer) <-- these are the mods i have edited, ie i like to fix mods, as well as add new stuff to them. so yea these are my personal edits to said mods. Note: i of course recommend my own mods, which you can find, by clicking on my name here, and then clicking on nexus profile page, however the majority of them mods, i made for myself, but uploaded. so yea, check em out if you like. and lastly if you need help setting up an enb, let me know.
  22. happy to help :) let us know how you get on and we can continue from there
  23. happy to help  for the texture mismatch, this is caused by a number of things. 1. resolution mismatch, ie attempting to put say 1k tattoos on a 2k face texture for example (Looksmenu Customization Compendium, includes everything that could cause the infamous brown face/ black face bug, if placed on a high resolution face textures, such as 2k face textures, this includes, scars, face tattoos, eye brows, and face paint) 2. using a custom preset without having the required mods. 3. mod conflict, example looksmenu customization compendium, is not compatible with 2k face textures, also custom brows mods, are not compatible with 2k face textures, (custom brows have a high chance of causing said face texture color mismatch bug. a.k.a the infamous, brown face.) 4. Black face bug is caused by texture corruption and also the same as above, using custom brows, scars, tattoos etc etc for the face.
  24. should be in the fallout 4 root folder: download this: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/102 place it in your fallout 4 root folder, open fallout4ConfigTool - Click on the Tweaks Tab - Click on AutoExec - Click on Add - and add all of them commands into the AutoExec.txt Document that Pops up, save the document, then back on the tool, click on Save. you should be good to go i have tried it myself with many commands and it worked flawlessly the game has to check all 3 fallout 4 ini files on load, which is likely why it is flopping after the first command, where as using the method above, it will check the commands at the right time, meaning it will have a much higher success rate. because it is an AutoExec document (Auto Execute, has the highest priority), as the game will read it as soon as the game launches, quite possibly before everything else.
