Your post is very similar to the one discussed here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/8011498-new-nexus-site-style-the-vortex-flash/ As TheGreatFalro points out, the second screenshot is not "forced" as you have clicked on the nav to open that section. I'm sure once you get used to it, you'll start to prefer it to the old layout :)

In response to post #73624103. Mods of the month only appears when you're on a game site (so it'll say "Skyrim" where it says "Games"). The Upload button collapses into an icon at narrower resolutions, fullscreen your browser to see it as shown in the screenshot.

In response to post #73620878. #73621968 is also a reply to the same post. Read notifications are no longer present so there are no dimmed colours. You can still see them by clicking "See all" though, where they are dimmed out.

That is part of the footer, it gets pushed up briefly while the new content loads in. It's not an advert or some kind of "cheap trick". If there is no content between the tab header and the footer, it's going to appear for a split second while the load completes, there's not much we can do about that. I'm sure after a while you won't even notice it - but we'll take it into consideration when redesigning the mod pages.
