How much VRAM for 4k Modding?
HeyYou replied to Galschar's topic in Hardware and software discussion
Prices on cards are coming back down. Granted, the MSRP at this point got jacked up a fair bit since the shortage. As the world returns to some semblance of "normal" after the pandemic, prices *should* come down even further. Maybe later this year, but, certainly next year. We can hope anyway. :D It's true. Finding sub 4-core processors these days, that you intend to use for gaming, are rarer than hens teeth. Maybe in an i5 flavor, but, I don't know of anyone that would recommend an i5 for a serious gaming rig. :D That said, Beth games run pretty well on older hardware. I newer vid card is probably the best investment for performance on those machines though. -

Have a read of this article. Apparently, which card is *better* depends on what resolution you want to play at. -
I run PANPC. (Pack Attack, NPC edition.) It is configurable, and can generate more enemies per square foot, than you can deal with, so, careful with the settings. :D It also makes your enemies a bit smarter..... and trickier. It really changed combat for me.

Then add the Explosive Legendary effect. :D That would make for serious carnage. :D

I don't have Oblivion installed on my machine any more. :) I have been thru a couple different rebuilds/upgrades since I last played it. :D I don't think I had to do anything special with the ini though, for it to work properly under windows. The whole capitalization thing *might* be a good trail to follow though, as Linux is indeed much more persnickety about such things. :D

How much VRAM for 4k Modding?

I don't know that any more than two cores have any advantage. Beth games are notorious for hardly being able to utilize two, let alone six, or more..... Granted, the system itself may be able to make use of the additional cores, but, the game itself really doesn't. I would expect that a Quad core should be the minimum though, and higher clock speed giving the most performance advantage. -

More is better, there is no such thing as too much. :D -
Ah. Ok. Still, it is sad. I love the mod, that is rather cool. :D

I *think* this is the same character? (lots of images up for her......) Check it out.

@Colourwheel: I suspect you are quite correct. Trump will only be satisfied by regaining his position of power.... @xrayy: Trump is too much of a narcissist to admit when he is beaten. That said, support for trump is waning. According to polls, the number of folks that support trump over the republican party has declined fairly significantly over that last months. Also, the number of folks that would like to see him leading the republican party has also declined. Folks like his agenda, but, they don't like him. (america first) I doubt that any of this has a significant impact on his designs to regain the presidency though..... He is likely still 'convinced' that the public wants HIM back in charge....... What I find amusing is, his blog lasted about a month, and was then taken down, as not many folks were reading it. :D There's a dose of reality for him. But, he won't see it that way. He will likely spin some conspiracy theory as to why folks are essentially ignoring his 'wisdom'. :D

Maybe we should just give him another television series, so he will stay out of politics........

Maybe try and PM whomever uploaded the photo, and ask?

Where did you get the image from?

Prevent mods self-disabling and shifting in load order.
HeyYou replied to ImmortalAbsol's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
It really shouldn't be doing that. Do you have more than 255 active esp/esm files in your load order?- 4 replies

- ctd
- load order
- (and 8 more)

When I saw that kind of behavior, it was because I had my UGridstoLoad set too high, and my vid card couldn't handle it. I think what you are experiencing is 'screen tearing'. Sometimes a software issue, more often, a hardware issue.

erm, he is wondering where that particular esp file went. A mod. Not a location. I doubt he is going to find the file anywhere near the glowing sea.
-
Might try this mod instead. I have used it in the past with success. (on a windows system though.) (assuming you are modding oblivion.)

Condolences on your loss. I love my dogs, and spoil them mercilessly. :) They are getting up there in years though..... and the thought of not having them around, is majorly depressing. But, they are still here, so, I will enjoy them as long as I can. :)

Yup. I have a pistol with a silencer for just such an occasion. There is a certain amount of satisfaction blowing their fool heads off. :D

Yeah, that's definitely a hardware issue. Did DBAN report any bad sectors on the drive?

Script Extender Plugin Error
HeyYou replied to cyb0rgma3v3n3wv3gas's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
nvse_extender_ng is another plugin for NVSE?? Do you have any mods that require that plugin? If not, simply delete it. (should be in Data\NVSE\Plugins, or some such.) -
Yeah, with the recent policy change, mod authors are not particularly happy. And all this in an effort to support mod packs...... (Nexus calls them 'collections'..... a mod pack by any other name....) So, the uncertainty factor for folks that pick and choose which mods they want to download isn't a model of reliability at this point..... That said, I think those authors moved their mods to another distribution platform. (bethnet? AFK mods? Moddb?) If you can find a reliable source for them, just put links to them in your mod description page. I wish you the best of luck, no matter what you decide to do.
