  1. Makes ya wonder just who is giving him these suggestions........
  2. Trouble is, we do it to ourselves. Even though we know for a fact that these guys are all crooks, we continue to re-elect them. We have no one to blame but ourselves. Individually, we have some pretty smart people in this country, taken collectively though, we got nothin' on a box of rocks. And, the system is stacked in such a way that we can't fix it. The only folks that actually have the power to change anything, are the very same folks that benefit the most from not changing anything at all. This is why we will never see Real election reform, or campaign finance reform, or term limits for congress. For the most part, I agree with you. Free trade agreements are NOT good for the average american, but, they ARE good for top 5% or so... so they pass. Tax deductions for your private jet, or yacht, benefit no one but the rich. (personally, I am thinkin' that if you can afford one, or the other, or both..... then you really don't NEED the tax break......) As I said before, our government isn't in business to help america, they are in business to help themselves. That's it.
  3. That has been the case for decades now. Roughly since the Supreme Court ruled on Citizens United. Face it, we have the best government money can buy. It isn't just the dems, or just the repubbies though, it's ALL of them. They get their 170 and some change thousand dollar a year salary, (plus all the bennies and perks) yet somehow, after just one term, the dirt poor politician that got elected, is now a multi-millionaire. Our government doesn't care about the people. They care about lining their pockets, and getting those big campaign contributions. The rest of us simply do not matter. And that should have been patently obvious for quite some time.
  4. There is going to be a fight over this....... and the courts will most certainly be involved.
  5. Neither MxR, nor ModDrop, ask for permission to upload/review mods. They just do whatever they like, and wait for authors to file claims against them before they will actually remove anything. Neither is very honest either. MxR has been raked over the coals on this before.... (featuring a mod in one of his 'reviews' that the MA specifically stated they didn't want that..... MA won that round. But, not without backlash.)
  6. Something like modern firearms tries to be 'realistic' as far as damage goes. There are a couple mods out there in the world that 'buff' vanilla firearms up to pretty much the same specs..... and it works that way for EVERYONE, NPC's included... so, in the early game, getting shot HURTS. But, you can also kill faster, without having to burn thru three magazines to kill one raider.
  7. Does the VR version even support mods???
  8. I suspect it only LOOKS like they installed correctly, when, in reality, they did not. May wanna post up in the NMM section. I don't think they are officially supporting it anymore, but, there are still some folks that will help. (just not many of the devs any more.)
  9. I run the 1060 6gb FTW+ version, and LOVE it. Runs ALL of my games butter smooth, even in the 'busiest' of areas. And that's with an outdated AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black processor.......
  10. If the SSD is NOT your O/S drive, get the machine built, and running, and THEN install the SSD. You *should* be able to install NMM, point it at the right files/folders, and be back in business. You may have to reinstall your mods..... as I don't know where NMM stashes its profile information. I would not be surprised if the procedure for doing what you want isn't documented somewhere...... You can't be the first one to want to do it. :D
  11. As has been said, if you want free access to ALL mods, buy a computer that will run the game, and a copy of the game for the computer. That is the ONLY way you are going to be able to use the full scope of mods for beth games.
  12. They come in a variety of different compression methods. Rar, Zip, 7z, etc..... 7 zip is free, and can deal with all of them. Sometimes winzip, or the archive utility built into windows.... doesn't always understand the different formats, so, will declare it 'broken'. I regularly grab mods from here via the manual download links, and never had a problem. (for TES, or FO games......) I don't use NMM..... it annoyed me too much in the past. :D
  13. So, go into the game, toggle god mode, levitate yourself up to it, open the console, and click on it. First two characters of the number that shows up, will tell you the load order number of the mod the object is from.

Government: The root of all evil. Our government needs a serious overhaul. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening any time soon.

The government researchs anything that suits their fancy. The spent tens of thousands of dollars, trying to figure out how a frisbee flies....... You can bet your bottom dollar that they are also researching less innocuous stuff as well. Hell, they are likely researching some variety (or, several varieties) of FTL drive. But, they aren't going to tell us about it.
  16. Fix the file path. That process is for dealing with connected devices....... Might wanna run windows update, and possible system file checker.....

We don't have Star Wars system. That was a pipe-dream of Ronnie Ray-gun, and was never realized, as space-based weapons are prohibited in various treaties. We most certainly do have space-based defensive weapons. SALT II and OST prohibit WMDs from being launched into space, not conventional arms or warheads. Our best space-based weapons today are laser and are neither considered WMDs according to these treaties nor are there any limitations on their use. I've covered James Woolsey's fear mongering about EMPs in another thread and won't repeat it here. It's pure and delusional fear mongering intended to keep us terrified while keeping his own lifelong teetsucker paychecks coming in. No. We don't. We have terrestrial-based anti-missile systems. That's it. When Ronnie was pushing it, we simply didn't have the technology for space-based lasers. SDI died while he was still in office. It has not been resurrected.

IMO we should remember and/or relearn the lesson of Pearl Harbor: in the face of economic sanctions Japan saw no other option but to attempt a last and desperate pre-emptive strike. Even the idea of a pre-emptive strike was ridiculous, but their two choices were to lose or to first starve and then lose. Just like Iraq and now Korea. As for the impeachment vote on Trump, this one was forced early to give the illusion that he has more support than he actually does. But watch what happens as he travels down the same "everything is somebody else's fault" road as Richard Nixon (I think there's a song title in there somewhere. ) Since his first day in office Trump has given us nothing but vile attack and blame of his political foes, war mongering (yesterday's example: officially recognizing, unlike the entire rest of the world, Jersusalem as the capital of Israel etc) and abject fascism (travel bans on entire nations of perfectly innocent people etc). He has managed to redefine the exact opposite of leadership in our country, just the fact that he was raised as a credible political candidate and attained his office has signaled to the world that nothing remains to be salvaged of our country and federal government. IMO it's been the case since 1971 and Nixon's "opening the gate to China" for the multinationals. If a popular vote, or even one in our Congress had been taken at the time, whether to expose our free market capitalist labor force to competition with totalitarian Communism, it would have failed at something very close to 100%. That was and almost a half century later STILL IS the problem. The response and solution of Trump and the R's to this problem in their new tax plan was to altogether eliminate corporate taxes on profits earned overseas by U.S. companies in these Chinese sweatshops. What leadership! Saddam was not a threat. He was contained, and had no WMD programs. Bush knew that, but, he wanted the oil, so in we went. Even his daddy told him it was a bad idea. Daddy was correct. I get that you disagree with some of Trumps policies. I get that you don't like him. I don't much care for him either, but, he IS the president, he WAS elected. Now, he is leader of the country, like it or not. Do I think he is a *good* president? Nope, not really. He does a fair few things I disagree with. Some, vehemently. But then, I could say the same for almost every president before him too. Do I think we would be better off if we impeached him? Nope. Sure don't. Should congress start a chain of impeachments of politicians they don't want in the Oval office, until they get one they DO like, then I think its time congress got replaced. ALL of them. (which wouldn't really hurt my feelings in any event.....) I live in the midwest. Winters here have been pretty variable. We may get a boatload of snow, or we may not get much at all.... Or, we may get a boatload of snow, but, the next day, it all melts...... These are not the michigan winters of my youth...... I think in 2013, we got a LOT of snow. To the point that I was snowed in for a week, because there were five foot drifts in the roads here, and the plow trucks seemed to have forgotten we exist. (and the drifts were hundreds of feet long.... so, not something you could just bull through..... even with a 4x4....) That single storm prompted me to purchase a snowblower for my tractor..... Since then, I have used it a total of three times........ Hhhmmmmm........

Well, it IS Pearl Harbor day...... 76th Anniversary, and all that. :D I would bet real money the vote went pretty much down party lines.

And just where did I suggest that there are no minimum moral standards? I stated a fact, that's it. As for what constitutes that minimum standard, it seems the american people, collectively, don't really put much of an onus on our politicians for upright behavior. Unless they are caught red-handed, doing something patently illegal, (not necessarily something that is merely immoral, by whomevers standards.....) no one really bothers to call them out on it. Been that way for decades. Do I think that is OK? Not even remotely. Do I think it's going to change anytime soon? Nope. Not a chance.
  22. The author has been active relatively recently, so, just to be safe, it wouldn't hurt to ask. :)

According to theory, there is an impeachment vote scheduled to happen today. Of course, I have been hearing the same song for several months, and still no vote..... Not morally qualified? Now THAT is FUNNY. So far as I have seen, there isn't a single politician in washington that is morally qualified for their job. There hasn't been for decades. ALL of them are corrupt in one fashion or another. Not to mention they are bought and sold so often, they might just as well be on the friggin' stock market. You want a beautiful example of a politician that feels they are above the law? Look at Hilary Clinton. Or Bill, for that matter. The scary part is, their wealth and power does indeed put them above the law. They can, and have, bought their way out of trouble on multiple occasions. I hear there are some folks in congress(?) that are attempting to delay the vote, to give more time for 'review'....... We'll see what shakes loose on that..

And just what is it he is supposedly doing? The net neutrality thing? That's the head of the FCC. (yes, I know, a Trump appointee.) Personally, I don't think the donald has a clue what net neutrality really is. Trump is a misogynist. That doesn't come as a surprise. Hilary covered for a philanderer. So what? If you think that would have been enough to knock either out of the race, you seriously overestimate moral values here in the US.
