If your SSD is of the NVME flavor, I do believe that is as good as it's gonna get, without spending some truly huge money. If your Mainboard supports PCIe v4, you are stylin'. NVidia recommendations are just that. They don't necessarily subscribe to the same goals that you do...... I believe there is no such thing as too much RAM. But, it needs to be MATCHED sticks. If they are all rated at the same speed, etc, then they should play nice together. That said, If you are running 32gb currently, (or more) I doubt you would see any noticeable performance improvement by going with more. Win 11 will (and 10 as well) will "run" (for certain values thereof....) with 4gb. Going to 8gb will be a VERY noticeable improvement, going to 16 will be an improvement, but, not as much as the jump from 4 to 8. Going to 32 you won't see much of a 'performance' improvement, but, things will run smoother. Going up from 32? I don't know that you would even be able to tell..... Maybe reduced loading times, (as more stuff is kept in RAM) but, with NVME SSD's, that's really a non-issue. I have no doubt the 9950x3d, and the 5080 would be VERY likely to give you better performance, or, allow you to run some truly bizarre resolutions, and still get decent framerates.... But, do you really NEED it? The cost/benefit just ain't there for me. But, keep in mind, I am still running on an i7 9700KF, (no onboard video, but, no hyperthreading either.... still, 8 cores....) 32gb ram, RTX 3070, a couple samsung 980 PRO NVME drives. (one for the O/S, one for the games.) I don't run at max settings, and I don't use heavy duty texture packs either, but, the games still look REALLY good, and run very smooth. It IS getting on toward time for an upgrade, but, this system runs Starfield rather well..... So, maybe when the next Elder Scrolls, or Fallout game comes out, I'll do an upgrade..... or, if this system dies..... but, until them? I'm good.

I would expect it depends on the game, and which piece of hardware it is more inclined to use. I am sure the 5080 will outperform your current card, but, by enough to justify the cost?? Probably not. I wouldn't expect to be able to lay hands on a 5080 for less than 1500 bucks..... and for the incremental performance boost..... I would not be able to rationalize that purchase..... Have performance monitor running while you play whatever game, and see what the usage graphs for the proc, and vid card look like. If your card is maxing out, and the proc is just lazing along, you'll do fine.... If, however, the proc is maxing out, and the vid card is just lazing along.... The 5080 likely won't show much, if any, performance improvement.

Creations Warning When There Shouldn't Be?
HeyYou replied to BigPete7978's topic in Starfield's Discussion
I see the same thing..... I really don't know if achievements are enabled or not at this point. -
SFSE gets installed to the base game directory, same place where you find Starfield.exe. Then, you need to start the game with the SFSE_Loader.exe. I just make sure steam is running, and have a shortcut to that file on the desktop, which I use to start the game.

Yes, looking for the 'empty' directory is probably confusing the heck out of the game.

Small blessings. Vision is one thing I do NOT take for granted.

Crashing so hard it makes me restart my PC
HeyYou replied to Kaisenati's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
One of your mods. Don't add them all at once, just add one or a couple at a time, verify the game works, add some more. -
Deleting the folder nukes the ini files. Starting the game recreates them. Do any of your mods alter any of the various ini files there? Is archive invalidation dealt with?

Any idea WHY it's getting blurry? Gone to see your doc?

Game crashes at startup, and I don't know why.
HeyYou replied to Malacha1i's topic in Mod Troubleshooting
I have no idea how to interpret the log, but, the 'access violation' is a memory error.... -
Are you missing dependencies??? That sounds a lot like a missing master crash.

[HELP] Characters blocks with torch instead of holding it up
HeyYou replied to umbrellamod's topic in Mod Troubleshooting
Is the torch held in the left hand? Or right? I don't recall being able to hold the torch up higher..... Could be just one of those things I just never knew..... -
What's up with your vision????? Take the time you need to get things right. We'll all still be here.

What hardware are you running the game on?
-
I think there is a tutorial for just such an occasion on youtube. But, can't swear to it.... Might even be somewhere on this site.
-
Nothing that *should* do that. Probably a mod interaction. Familiar with xedit? Might try having it filter for conflicts.

installing the Weapon Enhamcement Project file
HeyYou replied to falconite4's topic in Mod Troubleshooting
No worries. I have no clue on that one though. I've never even heard of that game. -

What game? -
Basically, when you are looking at a planet from orbit, the day/night line is patently obvious, at least, it is to me..... However, I can pick a landing spot that is quite obviously right smack in the middle of the 'daytime' part of the planet, but, when I actually land there, it is full dark.... Same goes for what should be a 'nighttime' landing.... Broad daylight..... This is new since the last update from Beth....

Well, so far, so good. Wanna do a bit more testing yet..... Thanks for the pointers.

I have engine fixes..... I'll change that setting, and see what happens.
