No snow here yet. We got just a bit of a dusting overnight, but, nothing meaningful. it IS cold though.... and promising to get colder.... I hate winter. One would think that being the 'smart' guy that I am..... I would move to a warmer climate... but oh no... can't do that...... :D

Today, it seems like if you are of a different color than the other guy, it is automatically a hate crime.

Obama had the Nobel Peace prize before he had even been in office six months.... Personally, I thought that was stupid, and greatly reduced the value of said prize. I don't expect anything to change. At least, not from within. Americans have become far to divided (right down party lines) to ever come back together on just about any topic. The whole "my party is right, and the rest of you are morons" mindset has a firm grasp, and isn't likely to let go any time soon. It is going to take a fairly significant event, that is either a consequence of our current 'direction', for anything to change at all. Unfortunately, when that happens, I suspect it is going to be a disaster of epic proportions.....

The american public was AGAINST the ACA when it was being written. We hated it outright when it came up for a vote, yet no one had read it. 2500 pages written behind closed doors, with zero public input. We weren't consulted. We just had it shoved down our throats by congress. I am all for overturning the whole thing, and chucking it out the window. Just call it a bad day, and be done with it.

It is only a hate crime if the basis of your attack was their race, religion, or gender. That may be the case, however, YOU are not the one making the determination. You may beat the crap out of some guy that is a different color than you, because he slapped your girlfriend, or something similar, but, because you are not of the same skin color, it is deemed a "hate crime".

Perhaps you should specify which definition of "honor" you are going for here. Honor, as in: To honor someone, and Honor, as in: He is an honorable person. (in that, he sticks by his beliefs/principles) are two entirely separate issues. It is possible to honor someone without honor.

It wasn't just the lying. That is nothing new at all, for either party. (how do you know when a politician is lying? His lips are moving.) I think folks don't care for the direction the country is going, a president that is percieved as weak, and when he doesn't get his way, resorts to 'executive orders'. Some of which he got away with, some he did not. Now, if he decides to give amnesty to all the illegals, the dems won't stand a snowballs chance in hades of winning an election in 16.

One where you can express your views, without fear of the local powers coming down on you, because their views are different. I wrote that wrong. I should have said that, I have not seen them play favorites, which to play favorites is the hallmark of prejudice forums. Thank you for bring that to my attention. Sometimes I try for brevity and get uncertainty instead. I kinda figgered it was something like that. Lord knows I NEVER mistype........ :D If the staff posts expressing an opinion in here, they are NOT posting in an 'official' manner. Some of them occasionally like to play in here too. :D

Our government seems to be doing a fine job of 'varnishing over' the truth..... They keep telling us that 'things are just peachy', even though most folks are well aware they are not. So where are the folks that should be calling out our government on these blatant lies? Why do we not hear from them, aside from in discussion forums on gaming boards, that not a single government agency pays the least attention to?

Peoples fears must be taken seriously or people will find others to take them seriously. This is how extremist are made. Even when those fears are artificially overblown by our 'leaders'?

The reps now have a check on Obama, to a degree, but, that's all they have. They aren't going to be able to pass any legislation on their own, nor will they be able to override a veto. He can still exercise his "executive power", and get some stuff done. Now, whether that is stuff we actually WANT to see done, is another matter entirely. I really don't quite get why the politicians are all saying "immigration reform is good", (basically, amnesty) when 80% of the country DOESN'T WANT IT. Whatever happened to 'the will of the people'? I suspect the answer to that is, the people have come to the conclusion that they just don't matter any more, so, they may piss and moan about it, but, they won't ever actually DO anything.

Yeah, I was truly disappointed in the dems performance the last several years..... even though I normally vote dem. Not this time. Straight republican ticket. Do I think its going to do any "Good"? Nope, not really. But, I do hope it does less HARM. I really didn't care for the direction the dems were going. Of course, there are a fair few things I dislike about the repubbies as well..... just the lesser of two evils. What a drag.

Not sure about the 'majority rules' in this particular instance. For the longest time, homosexuality was looked down upon, considered a 'sin', and, in some countries, could get you killed..... (and they make up less than 3% of the population here in the states.) But, today, we see the LBGT crowd seems to have more rights than the 70% of our population that adhere to some religion or other, that disagrees with them.

There are some, but, they have become the (very) silent minority. Everyone is too afraid of offending someone else (and getting sued for it) by pointing out that some particular life-choice they are making probably isn't really good for them, or, society as a whole...... Not that the current generation really cares about anything other than themselves.....
