CTDs When Bringing Up Perk Menu
LucidLady replied to 1337DragonWolf's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Well, if you still have Buffout4 installed (which you definitely should), then Buffout4 may be fixing whatever your problem was. Like I said earlier, Buffout4 comes with code that cures some of the most common engine flaws which are responsible for alot of CTDs. Whatever the case, glad your case is closed :D -
Unfortunately I already have a mod to make everyone naked. When I wear one of the dicks from Bag of Dicks, I have an erection and a flaccid one at once! Hmm. Well, consider using Bodyslide to zap the base body's dong? Seems like a simple solution. I guess I should note that this method would only work for your own character, not random NPCs. So, maybe not the best option.

Converting ESL to ESP safe?
LucidLady replied to Zorkaz's topic in Fallout 4's Creation Kit and Modders
I've been wondering about this too. Sometimes mods get released only in ESL form, even though releasing it as an ESL-flagged ESP would be better. -
Now i'm wondering how old that cryo save is. Is it from an outdated version of fallout4? Fallout's last update was like a year ago, so that seems unlikely. But if the save really is that old, just do a new save. That SKK fast start is a rock solid mod, makes starting new games super easy. Give it a shot if circling all the way around doesn't work, as the save itself might just be borked. It happens. And it really is safer to have mods installed when you create a game, rather than installing a bunch in bulk after the game has already started. I see that you've got "We Are The Minutemen" installed. The problem with the first save, where you took your time, might just have been that the outfit or facegen generated for the dead minuteman at the Museum by that mod was somehow corrupted. When you went back for the Speedrun version, a whole different outfit would have been generated for that Minuteman. So, that would explain why there wasn't a CTD that time. That's how the game works. Assuming I understand you correctly - you would have started the Speedrun from the Cryo pod, right? That means the cell containing the Museum (and dead minuteman) would load completely differently than the first time where you took your time. But if a bad outfit or facegen is the cause, it only means you'll probably experience more CTDs for the same reason in the future. If you do find yourself CTDing and happen to notice that it's because Minutemen are nearby each time, just be sure to make the connection.

Whoops, looks like the mod is actually called Bag of Dicks, and is found on LoversLab. https://www.loverslab.com/topic/78757-bag-of-dicks-equipable-penises-for-fallout-4-fourplay-compatible/

CTDs When Bringing Up Perk Menu
LucidLady replied to 1337DragonWolf's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
You only have to install one of the three files. Either the x64, x86 or armx64. Whichever one is appropriate for your system. And again, you won't get a crash log unless you load the game up and experience a CTD. I honestly don't remember if you need to install the Visual Studio for 2019 as well or not, it's been a while. I know that I did install it, and I don't see why not to install it. It doesn't hurt anything as far as I can tell. [edit] - Actually, here's the dedicated FAQ website with better install instructions https://wiki.fireundubh.com/fallout4/buffout-faqs#:~:text=Couldn%27t%20load%20plugin%2C%20or,installed%20to%20the%20correct%20location. -
CTDs When Bringing Up Perk Menu
LucidLady replied to 1337DragonWolf's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Huh, I see that they did remove a couple lines of install instructions. I wonder why? That's curious. In any case - did you install all of the prerequisite mods? Including the Microsoft C++ Redistributables? It won't work without it. -
The easiest suggestion I can give is to try out the Pip-Pad mod. When installing, it gives you a few distance options. Basically you can set it to hold the pip-pad reeeeally close to your face. You can also alter your hud using this - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10654?tab=files Basically you just edit the right text file to increase the size of text, I think. [edit] - Ah yes, you can just open the DEF_HUD.xml file and increase the scale of whatever you like there. You can just use Notepad to edit the numbers. For instance, this section - <TutorialText_mc> <x>-43.8</x> <y>44.65</y> <scaleX>0.9</scaleX> <scaleY>0.9</scaleY> <flags>255</flags> <color>0xFFFFFF</color> <color2>0xFFFFFF</color2> <rotation>0</rotation> <parname>HUDNotificationsGroup_mc</parname> <defx>7</defx> <defy>44</defy> </TutorialText_mc> I think if you want the tutorial text to be bigger, you just change the <scaleX>0.9</scaleX> and the <scaleY>0.9</scaleY> to a bigger number. Like 1.8 instead of 0.9 to double the size of the text.

LucidLady replied to 1337DragonWolf's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Vortex still doesn't give you a load order text file, huh? Man Vortex blows... I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to post the images here. Maybe just try converting the images into jpeg files? Are you going to try installing Buffout 4 or not? The f4ee log is insufficient. Nevermind, i see that you did try installing Buffout 4. But it seems that you didn't really read the installation instructions. You need to follow the particular instructions, read the full description page of Buffout 4 when installing it. Everybody gets a f4ee log. That is not the crash log generated by Buffout4. The crash log that Buffout4 generates is labeled "crash-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" where the x's are a string of numbers indicating the date of the crash. If you are not getting a crash file generated by Buffout4, then you didn't install Buffout4 correctly. You will only get a crash log from Buffout4 if your game did indeed CTD while it was installed. If you really do suspect a missing 1st person file, just change your outfit in game. Change into something that is un-touched by Bodyslide, and then see if you can open your perk menu. Simple. Surely there's one base-game outfit which you don't have a Bodyslide replacer for. Probably the Tattered Field Jacket, I don't think any mods touch that, but I could be wrong. -
Question about grabbing melee weapons
LucidLady replied to dimamax's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Hmm. You can change how any individual melee weapon (or gun) is held using FO4Edit, and it becomes a permanent change (until changed again through FO4Edit). But it would actually be cool to be able to make those changes in-game at a weapons workbench. I know it's possible, actually. Would require a ton of work, though. -
Aww look at your little babby load order XD Anyhoo, i'm a bit confused as to what you've done. You're saying you made a clean save just before exiting the vault? And then you installed all your mods, and loaded up that clean save? I can't be certain, but it looks like all your mods are safe to install mid-playthrough. Some mods require you to have them installed when starting a new game, they usually specify that on the Mod page's description. I suggest you try moving the AA Better Companions mod down lower in the load order, though. It seems the most suspicious for causing this problem, as Preston is a companion. But that's not definite. I also suggest you try having all your mods installed when you create the game, rather than loading them all up at once after the game has already started. (did I understand you correctly? Is that what you did?) In order to speed up the creation of a new game, I suggest installing SKK Fast Start, it'll instantly take you from Character Creation mirror to leaving the vault in like 10 seconds. It loots everything out of Vault 111 (except cryolator) and gives you the appropriate XP for killing the radroaches inside as well, so you're missing nothing. Here's the link - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/29227 It's always a good idea to have mods installed and in-place before creating a new game. It IS safe to install mods mid-playthrough. But you typically do that 1 at a time, not dozens all at once. Oh wait, if I understood you correctly, are you saying that you installed the UFO4Patch after the game was started? That's the only mod on your list that I recognize as being unsafe to install mid-playthrough. It must be installed when creating the new game, or it will mess you up. It's also unsafe to uninstall the UFO4Patch mid-playthrough. On a side-note though, I suggest you try playing without the UFO4Patch entirely. In my personal experience, it only adds needless complication and conflicts. I can suggest an array of dedicated little fix mods instead. One of which you should install whether you choose to keep the UFO4Patch installed or not - as the Patch claims to fix the problem, yet it doesn't. Here's the link - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47634 The UFO4Patch implements a "fix" for the Emogene Takes a Lover quest, but the fix just plain isn't effective. You'll need that mod to actually fix the quest, and that mod must be installed when starting a new game as well. There's a handful of other cases identical to this. But that one is the most noticeable, problematic glitch.

CTDs When Bringing Up Perk Menu
LucidLady replied to 1337DragonWolf's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Before I post, I have mods from LL. Is posting the list here going to get me in trouble? lol no -
I personally just use the Schlong mod. Gives you a whole array of different sized penises, flaccid and non-flaccid. Plus some extra interesting types of members. They're all equippable items, so you can just use FO4Hotkeys + Outfit Switcher to switch between which one you want for whatever scene. Just use Bodyslide to adjust the angle and position and size, it's not difficult. If you want instructions I can PM you.

I mean, considering that you have to kill the BOS if you side with the Railroad, you could always make the police station their new HQ lol But wait, there IS a church near the police station. You can fine father Gabe there - a hostile ghoul preacher, fighting a couple feral ghouls. He cries for help, but is hostile to you no matter what you do. It's rare for a nonferal ghoul to be fighting feral ghouls. And he's one of only 3 male ghouls in the game that has hair. In all my thousands of hours playing, I only just discovered this location a week or so ago. The Union's Hope Cathedral.

CTDs When Bringing Up Perk Menu
LucidLady replied to 1337DragonWolf's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Ok hold on. Are you saying that you have a save which has had mods loaded up on it - then you go and delete the FO4Custom.ini - load the modded save back up, save while the Archive lines are deleted - and then go back and put the Archive lines back into the FO4Custom? Don't do that. Your save is probably screwed if you did that. It's likely that you just have a simple mod conflict involving the perk menu. Are you using a FallSouls type mod? Something that un-pauses the various paused menus in the game? That can cause problems like this. HUD menus could also cause problems like this if they're not installed properly. Start by installing Buffout 4. (i can't believe this is the third time today i'm posting this) It will give you a crash log when you CTD, and point out which mod is most likely causing the problem. Here's the link - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47359 Post the crash log in this thread, and in the comments section of the Buffout 4 mod page. Also, post your load order. Use spoiler tags when posting here and there, or use Pastebin and post the link. -
I mean, it'd be easy to make it so Codsworth just gives you food items as well as water, randomly. But you want to actually cook on him? Hmm. You can order companions in and out of power armor. Maybe someone could hijack that script and change it so Codsworth shifts in and out of stove mode. Or maybe a kind of reverse Drinkin' Buddy. You put raw meat inside Codsworth, give it a few hours and then it becomes cooked? Goodluck, it's an interesting idea.

Ooo, I do like the idea of using a cleared location like this. My only qualm is that - if you're playing survival without fast travel, it'll be super inconvenient to walk all the way through there to find the NPCs. The first location that comes to my mind is where you find Slim. Slim is a named merchant located south of Goodneighbor a ways. Go to the Combat Zone, take a left, then turn right and go straight past the gunners. Can't miss him. He's apparently in the Railroad. It seems likely that he was planned to have some sort of quest with them, but the content must have been cut. If you look around his little clearing, you'll find 3 railroad signals. Also, across the street is a named NPC with two named dogs which are immediately hostile. Dando, and his dogs Shug and... Ruby? There's no talking to this guy. But if you kill him while Deacon is your companion, you instantly become enemies with the Railroad and Deacon will try to kill you. So, perhaps Dando was also planned to have some kind of involvement with the Railroad. Also, kinda hilariously, if you load the cell where Dando is found at a high level, his dogs will be Glowing, and this makes Dando hostile toward them (for dealing rad damage to him) and usually his dogs kill him. I like to imagine Dando was supposed to use his dogs to sniff out a Synth or something. I think it would be nice if they moved the HQ there.

Yeah, you've got too many mods to use LOOT for organization. It's still useful for finding dirty mods that need cleaning, though. And your load order looks a bit of a mess. I see you have actually worked on it, it's not completely random. If you are going to reorganize, don't do it mid-playthrough. Unless you're comfortable accepting that it can cause further game instability. You're also juuuuust barely under the 255 plugin limit. I hope you've flagged alot of those ESPs with the ESL-flag. Regardless, you are under the limit so that's not the problem here. Just... sayin'. If you want a quick guide on how to give light mods the ESL-flag, and why, just let me know. In the meantime, install Buffout 4. It's a mod that gives you a crash log when you have a CTD. It also comes with code in place to prevent alot of the common CTDs, so there's no reason to not have it installed really. Post the crash log that it generates for you in the comment sections of the Buffout 4 Page, or here in your thread and i'll take a look at it. Post it in both locations, honestly. Here's the link - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47359 I'll take a moment to post how I personally organize my load order, if you're looking for a simple guideline. I'll also post my current load order, so you can see it in action. My game currently has an even 4oo active mods, and runs about... 90% perfectly. In the past I only ever had CTDs from one single cause - and that was when I was trying to do a Save. I'd say during that time, my game was at 95% perfection. Now I seem to have solved that. I haven't had a single CTD while saving for months. But now i'm experiencing a few really strange problems I never had to deal with before. Random little things that i'm not sure how to deal with. Things that most folks would say are just normal problems for a bethesda game. But I went years without having any of those problems, so I don't rightly know what to do about them now. My game went from having only 1 problem, to having 4 tiny unconnected problems. Anyway - i'm only telling you this as some sort of evidence that my organization method probably won't hurt you. I don't think my problems are because of my organization method. I think it's probably because of a combination of many individual mods conflicting in some way that I can't see when looking in FO4Edit. Considering how many mods I have, it doesn't seem unreasonable.

18 Days playthrough suddenly not working anymore
LucidLady replied to Shrapnel's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Install Buffout4, then post the crash log that it generates either in the comment section of that mod, or here. Or both. Here's the link - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/47359 Make sure to post your crash log as a link to Pastebin, or in spoiler tags. -
Another suggestion - have you tried skipping the starting cryo scene altogether? SKK's quick start mod will take you from character creation straight to leaving the vault in seconds. See if the rest of the entire game works fine or not.

Supermutant footstep sounds for player, and slower walk speed
LucidLady replied to LucidLady's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
How am I this late to reply? I was also trying to get the slowdown effect to work via a Magic Effect. I feel like I got 90% there, but I don't understand Int Values. x_x I'm excited to attach other effects to the various different footstep sounds, and various degrees of slowness too :D I didn't think this request would be nearly as complicated as it has turned out to be. Thanks so much for helping me figure this out. -
Supermutant footstep sounds for player, and slower walk speed
LucidLady replied to LucidLady's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
I'm still not sure I understand :C So basically you're saying that all I have to do is make sure that the Armor Addon has the correct footstep sounds? Or do I need to give the Armor Addon an index number in the Armor section? I don't have any misc mods or object mods involved anywhere yet. I don't need the sounds to be an armor addon, i'm fine just attaching the sound effect to a specific piece of equipment. Does the piece of equipment need to take up the feet armor slots? I don't understand! -
Supermutant footstep sounds for player, and slower walk speed
LucidLady replied to LucidLady's topic in Fallout 4's Mod Ideas
Damn, my reply didn't go through earlier. Ok, I understand most of what you're saying. But you lost me, what do you mean by "Add the new Armor Addon in the Armor records"? And how do i give it an index number? Can i not just simply add the footstep sound to a piece of equipment? -
Breaking Precombines is bad because they could cause you to frequently CTD when going through the broken area, or cause you to have bad FPS drops. But it's not the worst thing in the world. I say give it a shot, see if your game crashes or if you lose alot of FPS. Nuka World is a relatively sparse area, compared with say Downtown Boston. If you break precombines in Downtown Boston, you can bet your ass you're gonna have noticeable problems. You could probably get away with it in Nuka World, though. If you do experience crashes or any FPS problems, just uninstall the mod and try to play without it. Not sure what else you can do. o_o I used to have this problem, had no idea what was causing it lol I just played through it. Made the fight with Colter more.... challenging.
