  1. well maybe this wasn't the same one i read like i thought it was, but i did still find it insightful. well done and thanks ^^
  2. This is supposed to be an alt start role playing thread, not a default Nord thread
  3. I read this and found it beneficial as a brand new modder, and just reread it a year later after having a lot of modding experience and it was still a good read. Thank you Grom :)
  4. I don't know anything about that, but have you tried categorized favorites menu, and loadout? favorites menu requires you to uncheck the favorites thing in SkyUI for it to be compatible I think, but it's an easy fix. I always, for all my playthroughs, use loadout and Categorized Favorite's Menu. CFM might help you find your arrows if you favorite them and loadout can automatically save and load gear profiles.
  5. I have same PC specs as you. Here's my load order, but don't click if you're under 18 as there are some sl mods in my list: Use the RealVision ENB and it's recommended mods. Skip the two that have FPS written in red (JK/s white run and the Unique Grasses), and use low res textures for water and grass. I use 512 textures for water and can't tell the difference between the 4k water textures. 4k grass is useless as well, try 1k (medium i think in some of the mod options). RV enb and it's recommended mods can be hard to install. I hope u know how to back up your install so you don't have to start over if you mess up. Go through the recommended mods installing lower quality stuff on most of it (btw use AoF mountains instead of the other, it looks better for less resources I think). Follow the instructions carefully. You may mess up once or twice like I did the first times I installed it with the recommended mods. As for immersion, immerssive HUD is good, and some gameplay mods (SkyRe is great). You have a good PC, but you can still heavily burden it quick. Game stabilization will become important to you. You'll have to learn to do this with INI tweaks (just download EWI's ini from the RV ENB page), and other programs. Message me for more info, I probably won't be checking back on this post. Good luck.
  6. it's the sum.jar program that i use to run dual sheathe redux. It's from the SkyProc program I think. i have the SUM program installed via NMM.
  7. omg i just came. can't wait!! i will be one of the first to download and endorse. Now with more friendly scripts???? THANK YOU!!!!!! This has been one of my favorite mods for a while and I'm so happy for this re-release!
  8. Really you should read the desc. page carefully of any mod you are thinking of uninstalling or installing. There's usually instructions/tips about either installation or installation on the mod pages. Some mods should never be uninstalled and some can be uninstalled with out consequence. Read the desc. for the individual mods.
  9. Did u check out the JK's whiterun? It seems cool and it's recommended by the RV enb crew.
  10. l00t really should put your mods in proper order. did u run l00t?
  11. I'm currently running a 3gb GTX 780 no probs with Skyrim and some intensive mods. In a day or two, how ever, I will be receiving a 4gb r9 290x (got the sapphire triX oc version). I know you posted here hoping for help and I'm instead asking for help/advice, but please let me know if you think your GPU is the cause of some problems. I can return the r9 i'm expecting if I don't open it. I got a good deal on it (280 bucks, 1/2 the price of my 780), but am not wanting to have an extra $280 GPU laying around for no reason.
  12. if you installed any compatibility patches for SFO, make sure u uninstall those
  13. I know if JK's white run, and the sexy cities mods. I love the sexy cities mods.
  14. i think bethesda bette focus on skyrim and making a new engine for the game that can fully utilize people's computer systems and can support more 255 mods.
  15. I use RealVision ENB. I prefer the fantasy version, but I've used the realistic version with Realistic Lighting Overhaul before and it was very realistic and nice. I recommend lower texture water becase it still looks good low res and medium to low grass. Don't install all 4k mods or you'll bog down your system and won't have rooms for awesome gameplay mods,
  16. I had trouble viewing your pic, but did you install only RealVision ENB, or did you install some recommended mods from there as well? You might have missed a compatibility patch. As for the ENB itself, make sure you use wrapper version and follow all the directions carefully. Basically follow the instructions carefully. Load order might help. Read the link in my sig. RV enb is worth it if you can get it working with some of it's recommended mods. Careful not to just install all 4k mods though. I've installed RV enb, both versions, several times with different variations of the recommended mods.
  17. Try firefox. I use firfox and win 8 and it's working fine. I love windows 8, more than win7, though it took me a while to get used to. As awindow's 8 user let me assure you that you should be able to run any and all games just fine.
  18. Has anyone here used the tropical Skyrim and want to share their advice and opinions? I lived in Hawaii for a large portion of my life and love that setting. One of the only first person shooter games I ever liked was far cry 3 because of how immersed I was in the setting. I have a perfect game running and am afraid to install this mod now, but I think I'm going to try it out. It would be nice if there were more people and modders interested in making mods to support bringing complete environment changes to Skyrim. Like specialized 2k-4k palm trees, and maybe some nice 512-1k coconuts and birds, and sand textures. And deep jungle areas. I think this kind of customization could change Skyrim in an epic way. It would for me anyways.
  19. It's kinda ridiculous to ask for 4k texure advice with out listing your computer build to us. What kind of computer do you have? Gpu, cpu, etc. RealVision ENB has a lot of 4k mods listed and a great ENB as well. I prefer the fantasy effects version but the realism version is good. Lots of good recommended mods there with different resolution options. Took me a few days to get it right the first time because I was pushing my system to the limit a bit. If you want good advice in this regard, tell us what kind of system you're running and what kind of monitor you're using.
  20. do you have athletic training installed? if you do there's an option in there to stop the waterwalking. if you dont, maybe try installing it and using it's features to fix your problem.
  21. try running tes5edit as administrator. i usually go into the properties of these programs and tell them to automatically run as administrator.
  22. you must've missed a step. try again. u started with a clean install? you mentioned putting d3d9.dll in the skyrim folder, don't forget to put the ENBhost.exe there too. and be sure you are taking from the wrapper version.
  23. download NMM, and start downloading one mod at a time with it. play the game for a half hour or an hour or so before adding any other mods. there's a program called loot. google it if you need a tutorial. download it and use it to sort your mod load order. the two most important things are: a. read the full description of each mod before you install it. it will have install instructions and mod conflict warnings etc. b. read the how to ask for help thread in my sig before asking for help if you end up having trouble with mod conflict or ctd
  24. Loot seems like a pretty independent program. Couldn't you just uninstall and reinstall loot and count on it to be able to read your load order and figure it out from scratch, or just make it run your load order without un/reinstalling? I don't change my game SETUP very often. I've been using all the info I've gathered here more as a foolproof back up system for now. I seem to have finally perfected a SETUP my current GPU can handle though, so I may start experimenting with multiple setups now. I will setup another char and start to have 3-4 SETUP's. I like the idea of having a couple for testing (as you mentioned), before adding mods to my primary setups. And a couple for different style playthroughs with different chars and mods to go along with said chars. Thanks for this guide ^^ EDIT: I've backed up my appdata/loot and appdata/skryim to perfect my backup process. I should probably create a readme document with my backup files describing exactly where loot, wrye bash, and NMM are installed. FNIS, SKSE, bodyslide, and all the .jar programs should already be installed and functioning just by keeping their respective files intact within my skyrim install folder, and tes5edit and creation kit should be independent enough to be installed separately and run on any SETUP at anytime. That's my understanding thus far anyways. I feel good about this. It's nice being able to do back up all the hard work it takes to getting my "perfect" setups for my perfect playthoughs.
