1. oh, i thought xfx would be non-reference >.> how to tell the difference? maybe none are available for r9295x2
2. ROFL! Comedy roleplaying. Nice. Sometimes I use the lightsaber mods and role play being a jedi night by only using skills and such that are Jedi lore friendly. I had to figure out how to mod weapons during that playthrough because the magicka sabers weren't strong enough to be a primary weapon throughout the entire playthrough. TES: STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!
3. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1592053-how-to-ask-for-help/ You didn't post load order or much info, but I play with a 360 controller and don't have any problems. When I plug mine in the mouse becomes inactive, weird that yours is still active. I know that's not much help, but I do think u need to read the link I provided for you. There's a program called loot your gunna need, and some others too after that.
4. HOW TO ASK FOR HELP Since that was your first post (and judging by it's content), you probably need to read the above link.
5. I have an idea, read the following link! http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1592053-how-to-ask-for-help/
6. I'm using RealVision ENB. It's the only ENB I use because I love it. Both the fantasy effects version with ELFX or the Realism version with RLO are amazing (in noticably different ways). I had trouble with installing it the first time I think, but there was a step I had missed or something. I was new at modding and it was a big task to install all the mods in max graphics, but with some determination I figured it out. Modding can be hard at first. SkyrimTuner gives excellent instructions on his page, read them carefully. I'm using the wrapper version (never used the injector version) and it's working. Make sure to copy both the d3d9.dll AND enbhost.exe from the WRAPPER version into your Skyrim folder (not into the Data folder, same folder as tesv.exe). Then install the ENB itself using NMM. Ok, the next step is to start the RV_launcher.exe BUT WAIT, it may be important to make sure your INI files are NOT read only before doing this. The RV_Launcher will edit your INI files, but I don't know if it works if they are read only. You only need to enter your Vram amount (512, 1024, 2048, etc.), press enter (i think) to complete that entry, then click SET INI. It will adjust your INI's for you. After that SET YOUR SKYRIM.INI AND SKYRIMPREFS.INI TO READ ONLY so they don't get changed back to Skyrim's default. Use EWI's optimized INI's for Ugrids 5 (available in the files section of the RealVision ENB page). That's what I use, just added a few lines to make Skyrim recognize the extra cores in my i7. Again, when you are all done, make sure your ini's are read only. But really just follow the desc on the RealVision ENB page because I'm just summarizing in my own words right now, the desc page there is completely accurate. Anyways, Tuner has excellent instructions on his RealVision page, just follow them closely. I used to back my hard files up 2-3 times while installing his recommended mods and the ENB so that I wouldn't have to start over if I messed up, but now I can start with a clean steam install of skyrim and install all the recomended mods plus the RealVision ENB, ELFX, and all in about an hour without backing anything up along the way, and never really mess it up. Don't remember last time I messed up tbh because he does have good instructions there. I do have all the mods downloaded though and drop them all into the folder NMM stores the mods in so I don't have to add them one at a time. Also, if you have too many mods installed that could be the cause of your crash. You didn't list your system specs or loadout or much details at all in your post. I'm only trying to help you because I use the same ENB and SkyrimTuner and EWI have spent enough time answering questions for me in the past that I owe it to them as well. Plus I try to browse the forums when I can and help, but ya, u should list your pc specs and load out in a spoiler when asking for help.
7. Ok, so Sapphire is good. Got it. That actually helps me a lot. What about XFX? Sorry for just throwing another name brand out there when you specifically said it's about reference vs non-reference but it doesn't exactly say "reference" or "non-reference" as a system spec when looking at the different GPU's online. If you don't mind, there's these two video cards I was looking at: SAPPHIRE 295x2 XFX 295x2 The Titan Z I was hoping to get for about 1100 already has bids up to 1175 and 3 days left so I won't be getting that one (price will probably go up to 1250-1300). I'm considering one of the above cards now as I can sell my current 780 for $400 or so. Selling that and buying a new 295x2 will give me more bang for my buck rather than spending 500 bucks on a new 780 for SLI (right?) Especially with Skyrim i think. So, for about 4-500 bucks (8 or $900 for the 295x2 minus the money I'll get selling my 780 = 4-500), I'll be getting a great video card that should easily smash Skyrim and any game with 4k graphics for the next year or so. All the comparisons I found on google showed the 780TI sli to be better than a 295x2, but I didn't find any comparisons with the regular 780 I have in SLI vs the 295x2. If I can get a titan Z for about 11-12 I will, but am considering the 295x2. Now I have to think about the 295x2 vs gtx980. I think the 980 is faster, but the 8gb Vram is kinda sexy. A lot of people will say 8gb is unnecessary and they are right. In fact, I'm running even games like witcher 2, dark souls 2, metro 2033, all with ultra maxed out graphics seamlessly already with my 3gb780. But, I actually can, and certainly will, push that 8gb to it's limit if I get it. EDIT: Just found THIS THREAD where these GPU's are refered to as "aftermarket". However, I'm not arguing that reference vs non-reference isn't a more appropriate conversation/terminology. I'm still learning about all this. I did quite a bit of research before putting my first rig together, but I'm surprised how much there is to learn about this. Also, as an aside, sorry for the two posts in this forum about the GPU's, I thought they were different questions, and a couple days apart so I didn't think to just add a new question to my old thread. I will consider that possibility next time, especially in a forum like this one that isn't very busy. There certainly are other websites and forums for hardware questions, but I like asking hardware stuff here because I trust this community and I know you're gamers like me interested in the same games. I had a bad experience in the chat room here the other day, but other than that I've only had good experiences on Nexus. I really appreciate everything everyone in the Nexus forum community does. Not trying to be cheesy, but thanks
8. LordGaron recently started a thread how to have multiple setups with Skyrim. : http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2229709-multiple-skyrim-setups-without-profiles/ I like this system actually because I, like lord Garon, am a bit of a control freak. I hope that after the next NMM upgrade I will still be able to hard copy all files and ini's individually like I've been doing. A good NMM update with profiling might be nice but I think I'm happy with NMM now that I've figured this out with Garry's help.
9. I didn't mean second hand. I mean cheapper brands like sapphire. Same r9295x2 was $1000 for the sapphire and $1500 for the Nvidia EVGA or w/e it was on amazon. I was told this is because the "aftermarket" (the term was used to me) GPU's are usually more likely to break (cheaper parts?) or burn up.
10. cool. u have a similar computer to me, so I may be able to help u from time to time.. add me as a friend. btw your load order shoul've been in a spoiler. eso is oblivion? i only play this game and Dark souls. u play DS?
This is how u do a spoiler, but don't put the space before the ] like I did. Try editing your OP to put the load order in a spoiler
11. that's very weird. never had that problem. try checking them in the launcher? have u installed new Skyrim related programs or uninstalled/moved any? sounds like it could plugin.txt related.
12. EDIT: This thread may actually be about reference vs non-reference GPU's. I wasn't aware of the terminology when I made the OP. Ok, I do know that they suck and are liable to burn up. I have never bought an aftermarket GPU before, but I am thinking about it right now. I'm just thinking that if I want to upgrade my GPU every year or every other year, then maybe I'll benefit from using aftermarket GPU's. I know the new r9295x2 is a fantastic GPU that actually sucks because it gets too hot, not enough heat control etc. I know it's not advisable to get because it won't last long etc., but what if I don't mind upgrading next year? I could get a brand new one of those aftermaket, for like 1k. I haven't seen any aftermarket titan z's tho which is the GPU i kinda want right now.
13. I've been looking at titan z's online and noticed that some are 1500 bucks and some are 3000, but i can't seem to figure out exactly the difference.
14. wow ok my man. i'm going to give you some homework. feel free to message me with further questions. You're homework is to figure out a few programs: Loot, tes5edit, and wrye bash. google "loot skyrim" and read about it. then download it and use it. it arranges your load order for you, and will tell you which mods are dirty. tes5edit can be used to clean the dirty mods as well as to check for conflicts. if you're having a CTD due to conflicting mods, run tes5edit with all mods checked and it will give u an error report. Wrye bash will come in handy later. those are the 3 main programs you will need besides NMM. after installing some body mods, you'll more than likely start using bodyslide, FNIS for users (not a mod itself really but it integrates other mods' animations into your game). there's also SUM.jar (the skyrim reproccer i believe it's called) which you will use to run dual sheathe redux and ASIS patches. so, to recap: 3 programs to google and learn about right away (there's guides, lots of them, with or without videos): Loot, tes5edit, wrye bash (in that order). then the other mentioned programs are ones you will probably need at some point. What's your computer specs?
15. there's a thread called how to ask for help. look for it and read it please.
16. Ok, I read every thing you wrote there. Must've taken you forever. For sure, I would've had a headache as well after writing that much. Just reading and trying to understand it all gave me a head ache lol. Thanks so much for all your efforts! I'm going to have to read it all a few more times over the next month or so to understand it all, but since I did read it all once (and reread several parts a few times), I hope you don't mind me asking something. Currently my understanding is that backing up the 3 main file locations (common/skyrim, appdata/local/skyrim, and Documents/My Games/Skyrim) is sufficient. Now I think I've understood that loot also stores it's info in it's own install directory. There's 2 ways I can think of that I can easily get around this. One is simply back up the Programfiles(86)/Loot folder and change it when I change the other 3 locations. The other is installing LOOT directly to the Skyrim directory. I think I will try to simply uninstall loot, then reinstall it in the Skyrim directory. Hopefully then I can just switch the 3 main folders as mentioned and all will work well.
17. This topic is being continued here for anyone interested: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2229709-multiple-skyrim-setups-without-profiles/ Thanks to Lord Garon for taking this topic I was interested in and trying to make progress in for a long time, and running with it.
18. did u run loot and tes5edit? do you use SKSE 1.7 with memory patch? ENBboost? ugrids? you should be using all 3.
19. um, i think everyone pretty much just uses loot to sort load order. i don't understand what you're asking or expecting here.
20. This. Start with this. Also run tes5edit and see if it lists any errors.
21. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1592053-how-to-ask-for-help/
22. Run the generate FNIS. I had this problem once, and I think FNIS fixed it. If you haven't fixed it, and want more help trouble shooting you can post your load order, but usually on my games I install TBBP and XP32. Usually to fix character animation errors I uninstall TBBP and XP32, then reinstall them (FIRST REINSTALL TBBP THO!!!). Then delete the skeletonfemal.hkx or what ever it is called. I'm pretty sure it's in your "Skyrim\Data\meshes\actors\character\characters female" folder. Then just run FNIS. hope that helps
23. First of all, didn't the 980 just come out? They already have an upgrade/replacement planned? Second, what does "smaller dies" mean? what is a die? I'm curious to know how a Titan Z might become "obsolete for gaming" not too long after I drop 1500 bucks on a legit version (non aftermarket)..
