  1. Ditch it and go to Hangmans Alley. Just a few blocks west of Diamond city. It's a settlement location settled in a large alleyway with 3 choke points. The Building that surround you will prevent stuff spawning inside the settlement because of natural terrain.
  2. Yeah that's why I only concentrate on Hangmans Alley. It is my one stop shop for everything and if it comes under attack it is incidental. I do though understand the frustration if you want to have everything running optimally. It'll be something I look into when I work on the settlement expansion mod. My intentions for the mod are to scale the boundaries of the settlement out for more building space when you reach population milestones and have it reset the build cap. This is kinda like any of those games where you need to build houses in order to increase your population or even Falloutshelter requires pop milestones to unlock buildings... hey now that's an idea... I'll keep that in mind to block invasions when your defense ratings are exceeding the population by like 25-33%.
  3. Dedicate your time to one or two settlements. Let the others do what ever. I recommend Hangmans Alley because the way it is layed out allows for Tower defense type defenses. I'm in love with my little settlement and my my next plan is to build settlement expansion systems when the tools come out.
  4. So anyone else having a bad time with verti-birds? I'm still early on in the questing and now the sky is infested with these buzzing annoyances. Their biggest problem is they are constantly crashing and often times right on to of me. The following image is probably the 3rd time verti-bird has exploded on top of me and has left me with about 5% hp. You only have to look up when they are flying around and they are literally flying sideways and bumping into buildings. When I hear that buzzing sound, it means take cover... http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa259/neonfox_bucket/Vertibirdfekd.jpg
  5. Where do the bottles go, into the workshops junk bin? Water water everywhere but I can't craft a thing =P
  6. Hunger bars, dehydration bars, sleep deprivation, weapon durability. All pointless crap that never needs to return. Hunger still exists in survival in the form of food health items. If you try and get by on stims alone you are going to have a bad time. Ammo weight = visiting containers more. I wish all none food items had 0 weight. Ammo crafting is a thumbs up.
  7. Lone Wanderer perk is glitched or Dogmeat does not count as a companion. Still have the perk after gaining rank 2 and putting Dogmeat on follow. I have been companion less since the start, I only just decided to bring Dogmeat along as his item find ability may come in use. Additional unrelated notes: You can equip Dogmeat with a bandana. New mod idea to create a one button bind to make dogmeat find. Still don't quite understand how the find works, when I first used it Dogmeat was only bringing junk(which is what I mainly want him for) but now he only seems to go after rare items like Nuka Quantum, mags and bobbleheads.
  8. Appears Jeremy Soule was not the composer for Fallout 4. Whoever it is must be his padawan, as they done a very good job at emulating his style.
  9. One more note, blowing everything into one stat isn't very useful anyways since most perks have level gates. Though everything has their passive benifits, the only ones you'd probably blow a full tenner on are Luck for extra find, Agility for more vats capacity and intelligence for faster xp.
  10. Intelligence makes up for the crafting perks allowing you to get more out a weapons potential. It also includes first aid, scrapping and hacking(which can often times supersede lockpickping to unlock safes). Intelligence also boost experience gain and contains Nerd rage, one of the best perks in the game. Intelligence is my number one pick in S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Charm on the other hand I only pick because I want extended dialogue options. It also has the settlement perk buried too deep in it's tree imo. My starting build was S-5 P-4 E-4 C-6 I-6 A-2 L-1 I play survival as a flexy build focusing on hacking picking and crafting. I emphasize on collecting additional resources and increasing the potential of my weapons to reduce the amount of ammo needed. I find the gun play this game strong enough to use vats rarely. I also avoid luck because I am a masochist who likes to scrounge for limited resources and predictable damage values. Also an extra note, never commit a whole 10 points to a starter build as there are +1 bobble heads you find in the game for each stat.
  11. Best settlement location is Hangmans alley. I was thinking of posting my build soon. Also I have plans to work on the settlement system for modding. I am envisioning settlement "size" expansion. Where the range of the settlement borders increase when you hit population milestones.
  12. An automatic weapon is a gun that uses generally uses two things. When a bullet explodes in the chamber it create air pressure which propels the mechanisms of the gun, such as the slide backwards. This action is used to eject the casing, load another round and cock the firing pin. When the slide returns forward and the trigger is still in the rear locking position, the mechanism causes the hammer to activate once again repeating a cycle. ie: AK47, M60, mp5. A semi automatic weapon has the cycling mechanism paused until the trigger is pulled again. It still ejects casing, loads new round and cocks the weapon. ie: 95% of pistols, AR15, M1014. Non-auto weapons are simple weapons the user need to cock for the next round. ie Pump action shotguns, bolt action rifles, musket =D To answer your question: If the character does an animation between shots, it is not an automatic weapon(Because the character need to prime the next round). I think the only weapons I've come across so far that are none auto/semi are the hunting rifle, the double barrel shotgun, missile launcher.
  13. The .38 machine guns are great as there is plenty of .38 ammo. They are great against Ghouls and other agile enemies, they are not a vats weapon.
  14. Another point on the food, it's done a different way then simply having hunger bar. If you are exclusively relying on stim-packs, you are gonna have a bad time. Pick up all the meat you can find and roast them up for some pretty good healing items. I reserve all my stims for broken limbs. Keep an eye out for the survival guides as they improve on the food a lot. In the first three you get Double meat looted and +50% healing from cultivated vegetables. I carry around a big inventory of mutfruits as a healing item because you can quick bind the whole stack to one button and spam it to recoup health.
  15. You don't get to choose which weapon you straight out use in Fallout games, you have to mix it up. There just is never enough ammo to dedicate to one weapon, at least not until you can start farming it off vendors. I have used the power armor once in combat against the death claw, I now have 3 suits in my collection room gathering rust(or for a rainy day). I run all weapons with my build focusing on crafting perks to get the most out of every weapon. If you want to focus on on sneaky sniper, a good early weapon is Righteous authority decked out with long range enhancements through the science perk(laser weapon). Currently a level 18 with 6 weapons I cycle through regularly. 10mm for standard engagements, double barrel shotgun for tight combat (Geurilla warfare type of weapon), 2 snipers*A hunting rifle for physical penetration and the Righteous Authority, a pipe lmg to burn through all that .38 ammo with a large drum(another close combat weapon) and I just found a legendary power fist which is really rad. I've also found the grognak gear. Even Melee is viable with 4 points in endurance. I am having an awesome time and the difficulty is one of the best I've seen in any game. When you say you "need" the power armor, that is where you are looking at the mode in the wrong aspect. You need to stay flexible is survival.
  16. Fallout 4 tip #83: Don't go through a loading door with a suicide bomber chasing you. You may get caught in a death load loop!
  17. I think there has been story elements that explain this as Nuka-Cola is brewed with preservative nuclear isotopes.
  18. Where exactly? ----RESOLVED--- http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/396676045188381496/72AB4F856AF14F2BDB316542672E10D0618D5B28/ First I assumed it wasn't working but this post on the steam forum has shown the light. Note the "1" on the build graphic.
  19. Heh, how about a ramp between sky blue and piss yellow =D
  20. Wait nvm, that thing I am reading is 2 years old
  21. It might be related to the hosting issue preoccupying implementing.
  22. Hi there, I've playing bethesda games for a long time and have never been completly serious about creating my own mods. This time I plan to jump straight in and go hardcore. The Fallout 4 portal I should assume is inevitable, but when can we expect it to be up and running? And for now, what is the best location to discuss Fallout 4 mods in the meantime?
