Which .ini can I edit that Vortex won't redo?
AugustaCalidia replied to MisterKen's topic in Vortex Support
Now I'm very confused. Normally I configure .ini files at the start of a game, and then they remain constant for the remainder of the game, unless I introduce further changes. What then is this "reshuffling" all about? As 1ae0bfb8 has already asked, why reshuffle if no values have changed? Or is reshuffling a normal part of the parsing process? Also, is "reshuffle" a technical term? Finally, an "opinionated" software library? Is that a technical expression as well? Anyway, I love it. That confirms my suspicion that some computers can be very hard headed at times! -

In agreement with rmm200 and Zanderat, I can also confirm that my .ini changes are "permanent across profile changes." -
You've solved your problem, and that's good news! While I've never had to reinstall Vortex to solve a problem, I have had to restart it on occasion to resolve one particular issue. Sometimes Vortex balks when switching profiles. Restarting it solves the problem.

Your problem may be specific to your computer system. Over the past four years I've used Vortex on four different Windows 10 Pro 64 bit gaming computers (mine and other family members), and I've never experienced the freeze problem that you describe. I wish I could be of more help to you, but I thought it worth suggesting, based on my own experience, that you also consider whether anything in your computer setup might be causing this problem.

Well, I spoke too soon in my earlier post. The banner is now back. I do not find it at all annoying, but I'm glad to learn from Picky that the banner will soon be gone.

While honored to be invited to join the collections conversation, I declined. After a few days of rejection, the banner simply stopped appearing.

FOSE not working after Oct. 13th Update
AugustaCalidia replied to Prophoid's topic in Fallout 3's Discussion
Here's an excellent tool for reverting Fallout 3: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24913. -

Problem: DarNifiedUIF3 (v0.11.1a fixed) works for all Fallout 3 menus except for hud_main_menu.xml, which remains vanilla. Game: Steam Fallout 3 update 1.7.0.4 reverted to 1.7.0.3 via the “Fallout Anniversary Patcher” (may its praises resound throughout the Wasteland and beyond) found here: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24913. Script Extender: FOSE 1.3 beta2. Mod Manager: Vortex 1.4.16 History: I have successfully used DarNUIF3 (and DarnUINV for Fallout NV) for a number of years. I have used FOMM, MO, and Vortex as mod managers for all these games and have never had any issues until now. I presently manage Fallout NV with Vortex, and I have no problems whatever with DarNUI for that game. Steps Taken to Solve the Problem: Verified DarNUI fonts in Fallout.ini; verified DarNUI menus in Fallout 3 goty\Data\Menus; verified that DarNUI is installed, enabled, and deployed; and verified that DarNUI overwrites (via a Vortex “load after” rule) every instance of hud_main_menu.xml found in other deployed mods. Unfortunately, the problem remains despite these actions. At this point I have exhausted my meager modding knowledge and request assistance from those wiser than I. Not ruling out some dumb mistake on my part, I wonder if there are variables unknown to me that are causing the main HUD problem. I especially wonder if the Fallout 3 update and patched reversion might have something to do with this. Any and all help would be appreciated. EDIT: Upon closer examination, my game HUD appears to be using the DarNUI fonts. However, the HUD is still set to the vanilla display size, which occupies an inordinate (in my opinion) amount of screen space. I have also done a comparison of the DarNUI main HUD menus for both Fallout 3 and Fallout NV, and the HUD size specifications are identical. However, while Fallout NV has a fully DarNified HUD, Fallout 3's HUD remains basically vanilla.

To revert the updated Fallout 3 GOTY (Steam), you need the original fallout3.exe and also xlive.dll, if the original game was not already installed when the update took place. At least that's what it took for me to recover my pre-update Fallout 3, because I did not have it installed at the time of the update. (Luckily, I'm a compulsive digital hoarder who backs up and saves everything.)

Instead of having a windowed game, what happens if you simply use Alt + Tab while running your game? Would that allow you to have Skyrim SE on one monitor and something else on the other? Since I don't have dual monitors, I have no idea whether this will work or not, but I thought it worth suggesting.
-
It is a fix. You have to run the launcher.exe directly from the game root directory, not from Vortex. The root directory is also where the game .exe is located. As I said earlier, Vortex does not deal with game settings. Windowed mode, screen resolution, graphics settings, etc. are settings handled by the game launcher.
-
Run the Skyrim SE Launcher (not the SKSE64 launcher). You can select windowed mode in "Options." Vortex has nothing to do with the game settings.

https://fose.silverlock.org/ There's presently no fix. The most current version of FOSE will not work with the recently updated Fallout 3.

On Vortex... What's "Combine"?
AugustaCalidia replied to RavenKiro's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Here's where you need to ask your question: Vortex Support Forum -
This news today from Steam may help explain your difficulty: "Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition has been updated and no longer installs Games for Windows Live dependencies. If Fallout 3 was previously installed on Steam, we suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the title. The title no longer requires Games for Windows Live and will now launch. Update Version: 1.7.0.4 FixesGames for Windows Live dependency was removed.Improvements to stability and performance." FOSE no longer works with the update, but apparently Vortex is now recognizing the updated Fallout 3, thanks to the quick efforts of the Vortex team.
-
The FOSE team is aware of the change: https://fose.silverlock.org/ Although a FOSE update may not come quickly, my guess is that it will happen eventually.

This is not at all a Vortex issue. Rate limits apply across the board, no matter what mod manager you are using.

Have you asked for help in a Skyrim SE support forum? You're more likely to get the help you need there.
-
From the Vortex download page found here: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/1. This lack of "forum awareness" isn't just limited to the Vortex forums. Over the past three years in the Vortex support forums I have referred numerous folk to the various Skyrim LE, Skryrim SE, Fallout 3, Fallout NV, and Fallout 4 support forums to assist with game issues totally unrelated to Vortex. Many of those folk were completely unaware of the game support forums.

Support of Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous.

The extension for "Pathfinder: Kingmaker" was written by a gamer like yourself and not by the Vortex development team. Find a friend with some coding skills and ask for his/her help.
