  1. Blondie - Hanging on the telephone... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWhkbDMISl8
  2. Out: Well that's kind. The MVM has modded Arena so that it now runs perfectly as a mod off Skyrim. In: I've accidentally dropped the teeny weeny microSD card from my hand held voice recorder into the MVM... sorry about that. It's making a crunchy noise. I don't think I should put anything else in just yet...
  3. A young, tiny, perfect hedgehog in the garden. It's been visiting regularly. Maybe there are others. We have a lot of slugs so hedgehogs would be welcome.
  4. Phew - that's a relief. I thought the next one might be: Zixi - reason None... or aka for putting ideas in Demorphic's head...
  5. We have 2.5 megabits per second... I'm going to do the reverse of what most people do and say my speed is worse than yours - so there! Anyway... what was going on the other day when someone was banned for reason: None? Didn't like their haircut? Mods having a bad day? Or how about they've implemented the new banning sword, dual wielded with the ban hammer!
  6. Free - Wishing Well . I have the albums. But you can hear it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIotFhpGmc0 Play it loud. Really loud. Louder than that. As loud as your system can bear. But don't let it distort. Or you won't hear Koss as he's meant to be. Those lyrics are to die for... "You've always got something to hide Something you just can't tell And the only time that you're satisfied Is with your feet in the wishing well" Exactly!
  7. State something that happened today that put you in a more positive frame of mind or made you happy. Please keep it short. Please don't give us your life story: one or two sentences. It should take a minute or two to read... no more... We had freshly ground coffee at breakfast time. It was delicious and the smell still lingers.
  8. Me too mostly... sometimes I queue them for exactly the same reason I don't queue them - our internet speed is so slow that even a snail could outstrip it. If I'm not planning to sit through the however many minutes/hours/days it takes I queue them but mostly I don't because I'm scared it will get confused and take even longer.* You see I have a different response to the 100k - I think@ Wow - fancy being able to *do* that... *... I blame Graham ( someone I used to work with) who was a networking expert and explained it to me. I've ended up with a strange mental model.

    Ban for Fun

I ban SirCadsimar because I've never banned SirCadsimar before and I found that difficult to type. So banned and banned. @SirCadsimar Welcome to the corner of the Banned; and Abandon all hope ... etc etc etc
  10. There's another Kathy's Song and when I saw 'Kathy's Song' I thought of this one and went and listened. Thanks for reminding me. Simon & Garfunkel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUtjA6pEjns&list=PL7oUEDq7W3jE_ORn7w9rPMSvX7s1kE1mb&index=20
  11. A: It started off as a deterrent for ants but someone accidentally got it on their sandwich and liked the taste. And then someone accidentally got it on a sore wrist and found that it felt better so then it was used for other parts of the anatomy but not the really delicate parts because that would sting. Q: Why is the sky blue?

    Hi and welcome! Enjoy!
  13. Pillars of Eternity 'finished'. I suspect there are some side quests I didn't manage to do. I'm seriously impressed with PoE. It's visually very beautiful and the writing and characterisation is very deep. There are interesting stories aside from the main plot. At some stage I want to go back to PoE but not before I've looked at the character selection choices a lot more carefully. I don't think I chose particularly well. gameplay is not straightforward and it's not using convention D&D rules. I really should have taken more care but I was so enthralled with the story that I pressed on regardless with a less than sensible choice. My levelling up was appalling! I don't really know what to play next...
  14. The Offspring - TNG. I really like this episode. The only thing I don't like is that Data doesn't give up his life for Lal thereby ridding the series of one of its major annoyances for me... Lal is lovely, she is naive and charming and innocent and thus very honest and she can see things as they really are without all the pretences that the rest of them have. It's the one of the very very few times TNG has managed to make me sad for one of the characters.
  15. Alan Stivell - Renaissance of the Celtic Harp. I have to admit that this was the first thing that came to hand when I was desperately trying to drown out the sound of an annoying fly that had somehow got into my study and refused to quit. It had the ability to make itself invisible too. I've realised that since changing the OS to Linux Mint from Ubuntu that I haven't actually reinstalled any music... Anyway, Stivell's music is beautiful. However, I think maybe one of the old rock bands or some Jean-Michel Jarre would have been better able to compete...
  16. Hydden World by William Horwood. I've been reading this for a few days, I'm finding it hard going. I hope it cheers up soon. I'm pretty sure I tried reading it many years ago - probably when it first came out... I obviously failed then and I'm not sure I'll be doing any better this time. So far, I feel slightly uncharitable about this book but it might improve, of course.
  17. A: I wouldn't say because if I did the World and its wife and/or husband, dog etc etc would want to live there too and it would hardly be idyllic any more. Instead I'd write the name on a scrap of paper and release it up the chimney just as you do with notes to Santa Claus. Catch it quickly! Q: Why are some people left handed?
  18. Out: A copy of Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters. Paperback - a bit creased, as if it's been stuffed into a rucksack which in fact it had. In: A battery charger - non-functioning.
  19. The Calculator. This is an interesting one. It was developed by a duelling mathematician who was fed up with how the undertaker's hovered nearby, waiting to measure up the loser for a coffin. So, The Calculator works that out in advance. It also issues a bill for any damage to the bearer's clothing and sends that to the deceased's estate. Incidentally, it has a titanium edge so it's light and extremely strong. Don't believe the stuff about never needs sharpening though...
  20. Out: Serana. She wonders why breakfast has taken so long and where is Meeko? I tell her to calm down, Meeko is fine. She should eat her breakfast and get out of the sun or she'll be complaining. She says: What sun? It's snowing! Again! In: An arrow. Looks like it's been through someone's knee. I wonder how that happened?
  21. Yesterday's Enterprise The Next Generation. Some of the crew got killed and I hoped that everyone would be sucked into space but no... at the last minute the time line changed and they did that children's essay thing effectively - where they woke up and it was all a dream. The stupid thing is that I know we have all these episodes to go still so the chance of losing the entire crew is zero - what would all those other DVDs have on them for a start? But I still hope.
  22. The Lite Sabre - an especially light, travel version of the light sabre which you can fold up and keep in your backpack. It's especially useful for those who like to drag just about everything back from the dungeons. It is also solar powered!
  23. Out: A corn dolly. This is 'The Harvest Mouse' one of the incredible corn dollies made by Neil Thwaites. It depicts a couple of harvest mice climbing up a wheat stem. In: Five beans. They look like ordinary runner beans. They are red and glossy with black splotches. Perhaps they are magic beans. You decide.
  24. Out: Jonathan Archer's (Star Trek Enterprise) dog, Porthos. What a beagle is going in the MVM is a mystery. Anyway, he is very waggy and happy so perhaps there were trees in the MVM. Who knows. In: A ciabatta, freshly baked and a Spanish Manchego cheese.
  25. There's something appealing about this one - at least for me there is: "Ask whatever you want. If I don't know, I'll make something up." Sagani to Edér in Pillars of Eternity
