There are former Nexus users who've been banned for pretty minimal offenses. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them decided to retaliate.
HondaTrip
I wondered if some such was happening, been having problems with the Nexus for several days. For those who don't know, MS has a free anti-- virus/ malware program called MS Security Essentials absolutely FREE of charge. It has real- time protection as well as live scan that can be scheduled as often as you like. There's no reason to not be protected.
OpenWorldAddict
Just to note, another very good "Free" internet security system is AVG Free Edition. It doesn't come with everything, but it does have:Anti-VirusAnti-RootkitLinkScanner Surf ShieldIdentity Protectionand Email Scanner. It doesn't have Online Shield, Identity Alert, Ant-Spam, and a firewall. I don't need a firewall because WIndows 7 already has one. So all my security needs are met. One of the things that I didn't like with most paid Internet Security programs is that your payment would grant you a licence for full use of their program for only a period of time, and when that period was over you had to pay again. That is bullshit. Like other software, you should only have to pay once. So, until the people who make those programs wake up and only charge a one-time fee, I will be using free versions. exxor9108
In response to post #8468632. I think you might want to go with AVG instead if your McAfee decides to go rogue and stop you from playing your games. =/ I've had that happen once.

Zephyr102
Easy to forget it's summer break at my age, especially when taking summer college courses.Never could figure out what would inspire someone to target perfectly good independent websites and projects (like the Just Cause 2 multiplayer mod a while back) with DDoS attacks. Little pricks really need a hobby... like modding or playing Skyrim, or blowing their (parent's?) money on the Steam summer sale. Quit messing up other people's days to have fun, maybe try making the world a NICER place for a change, or at least leave it alone. Ugh.An interesting thing you noted about botnets and insecure systems, tho; when I think DDoS, I usually just think hordes of LulzSec/Anon/etc timing their pings right. Has me tempted to upgrade Avast! (the free version is antivirus and surf protection, with no firewall) or try something else. Never was sure if the Windows 7 firewall was sufficient. Triaxx2
I browse with my browsers running in Sandboxie, which acts as a small virtual console, keeping any viruses contained there, and they get destroyed when it closes and erases.

Seems to me that if someone is malicious enough to respond to being banned by viciously attacking the website, then their original ban was probably on target. Ardus
Thanks for the info, wondered what was going on with this site. The slowness and instability really had me considering leaving right until the moment I saw this post. It's been infuriating trying to navigate for the past few days. rao7
It sucks that they're doing that. This site is worth it's weight in the creativity alone! Hopefully it remains stable throughout the coming script kiddy months.
