Skyrim SE Mods are ... broken?

followed as many tutorials, how-to's, other people's posts, etc. that i could find. mods are enabled and deployed, but for some reason in skyrim, they are just not working. the mods are visible as just a file name in the mod list and don't actually mod the game. i have other mods that are running just fine, but they aren't through vortex, they're through bethesda. are the bethesda mods a conflict, or is it something else entirely?

We can't help you without more information.

You have established that you are running Skyrim SE.

Give us the link to one specific mod you think is not working, along with the paths to your game and the Vortex mod staging directory.

Also check your Vortex Plugins tab and make sure the mods are enabled there.

A typical problem a person such as yourself has is trying to run Skyrim LE mods on Skyrim SE. That usually does not work.

Make sure that the mods are enabled in Vortex and then launch the game through Vortex. After you launch the game DO NOT open the MODS menu in the game. The game's built in mod manager has a tendency to disable anything that wasn't downloaded from Bethesda.net.

Go to the PLUGINS Tab, in Vortex, make sure they all say ENABLED.

Also, go to SETTINGS----->MODS and make sure your DEPLOYMENT METHOD is set to "hardlink deployment".

Also, don't listen to that misinformation about launching the game through Vortex, once you've installed the mods, you don't need to run the game with Vortex, you can start it with the SKSE_Loader or the Game exe itself.

"D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Mods"

That is not a valid location for either the game or the Vortex mod staging directory. If you specified that in Vortex Settings, you found your problem.

Other than that, your paths look OK. Both on D:; suitable for hard links.

Look at the simpler mod: Unplayable Faction Armor.

You should be able to go to your game Data directory and find:

Meshes

Armor_Replacer
1_Alikr
1stPesonArmor1F_0.nif (90.0 kB)
1stPesonArmor1F_1.nif (90.0 kB)
1stPesonArmor1_0.nif (88.0 kB)
If you see them there and DIS_Armor_Fractions.esp in Data, Vortex did what it is supposed to.

The Location is Valid for the Game.

I have a second Steam Library on my F:\ drive with the same "SteamLibrary" path

However, the MOD path is totally wrong

when you say you have other mods that are working fine - are you using the in-game mod manager to manage them?
