Prudes!

It's probably related to ESRB ratings. Skyrim is rated 18, while, for example, Conan Exiles is rated M (because it has full nudity), and, as far as I know, M and Adult ratings come with certain distribution-related restrictions (games rated M by their local version of ESRB cannot be sold in Australia.)

Essentially, publishers target the widest audience to maximize sales, and for this reason they try to be as inoffensive as possible. Violence is still more acceptable for the populace than nudity due to reasons ( ^.^ ) so it's easier to be more liberal with violence than with nudity.

Wow, I can't believe violence is more acceptable than nudity. Would you rather I exposed myself to you or beat you up?

There should be options. When you install the game, the user should choose what they find acceptable, then it's their fault and their fault alone if they see what offends them.

Apparently, in America, we would rather you beat us up. :D Extreme violence in games seems easily accepted by most, but, show a little nipple? The torch and pitchfork crowd come out in force.......

Google "Hot Coffee mod" Nd you'll see why that will never be an option.

The nipple is not a sexual thing. It's not involved in intercourse. You might say you could fondle them, but you also kiss people, so why shouldn't the lips be hidden?

That doesn't explain why people get so upset about a completely natural and required act for the human race to continue.

Besides I wasn't talking about sex, I was talking about nudity. I don't know about other countries, but in the UK and other civilised countries I know of like France and Germany, there is no law against walking around in public naked.

There is. (a law against it). Try it, and see how quick they pluck you of the street.

Especially the UK are a bunch of prudes. Although it used to be worse, where even a 'naked knee' (short skirt) on telly could cause an outrage.

In my mind its no wonder the world is as bloody as it is, because you are old enough for war at age 17 in most countries, but not to see a naked nipple.

Strangely I never heard of boys crying for their mamas after seeing a nipple ...

No, there most certainly isn't such a law. I've actually been reported to the police for nudity (I walked across a busy car park to go hillwalking), they were told to stop wasting police time. It's not a crime unless I deliberately set out to annoy you, for example parading in front of you with an erection asking for a *censored*.

The UK limits "naughty" things to 16, we're not as bad as America's 18. But Germany has a more sensible 14.

P.S. Wow, nexus decided you can't see the word which means to move your hand up and down a shaft.

The US is a two faced monster. "Explicit language" can get you into trouble, but at the same time its the biggest supplier of "pron".

(Oh and try Disney ... they are the worst of all. if you play a Disney game and you have a chat option, try asking for assistance and stuff like that ... the whole word is replaced by ***.)

BTW:

Section 66 Sexual Offences Act 2003 requires a person to intentionally expose their genitals and intend that someone will see them and be caused alarm or distress. It is triable either way.

The catch is that it has to be proven 'intentionally (to cause distress)'

Pretty much the same as in my country. (to your right, across the sea ;) )

Here in the states, wandering around nekkid will get you a nice orange jumpsuit right quick. Doesn't matter what your 'intent' is. Public nudity is simply not allowed. (aside from a few topless/nude beaches scattered about the country.) And of course, we are also the place where girls, regardless of age/intent, regularly get called out for their skirts being too short, or their blouse is not button ALL the way up.... It's farking stupid. (and yes, I live in the US)

But then, here in the US, it seems that there is a segment of the population that go out of there way to find things to be offended about. They put more energy into finding something to be pissed off about, than they do taking care of their families. We have whole organizations whose SOLE JOB is to find something to whine about....... Quite honestly, I think our society is rapidly going down the tubes, at an ever accelerating rate... When simply stating an opinion, can get you arrested for a 'hate crime', you KNOW there is a problem there.....
