How to update non-Nexus mod installed by "install from file" ?

It's easy enough to check for mod updates by clicking "check for updates" if those are downloaded from Nexus. But what If I used "install from file" to install non-Nexus mods? If I have an updated version of that mod -- not from Nexus -- how do I update that mod? Do I have to completely nuke my saves, uninstall the mod, install the new one, and start a new game?

Uninstall the old version, install the updated version, and continue on with your game. The process is no different from updating a Nexus mod installed from file.

Probably not. Furthermore, if the mod is recognized by LOOT, then sorting with Vortex should take care of any load order issues. At least, that's how it has worked out for me.

And if it's a mod not registered with loot I'd guess it's a dice roll.

Hardly. You can set a rule in LOOT for your mod or assign it to a specific group. Either will place it where you want.

I would have a read of the update instructions before just going ahead and doing it... Some updates require additional steps in addition to removing old/installing new..... It might be just that easy... but, best to know for sure. :D
