InsaneGizzardSauce Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 It's easy enough to check for mod updates by clicking "check for updates" if those are downloaded from Nexus. But what If I used "install from file" to install non-Nexus mods? If I have an updated version of that mod -- not from Nexus -- how do I update that mod? Do I have to completely nuke my saves, uninstall the mod, install the new one, and start a new game?
AugustaCalidia Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Uninstall the old version, install the updated version, and continue on with your game. The process is no different from updating a Nexus mod installed from file.
InsaneGizzardSauce Posted December 23, 2021 Author Posted December 23, 2021 Thanks. Will deleting and installing reshuffle my load order?
AugustaCalidia Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Probably not. Furthermore, if the mod is recognized by LOOT, then sorting with Vortex should take care of any load order issues. At least, that's how it has worked out for me.
InsaneGizzardSauce Posted December 23, 2021 Author Posted December 23, 2021 And if it's a mod not registered with loot I'd guess it's a dice roll.
Zanderat Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Hardly. You can set a rule in LOOT for your mod or assign it to a specific group. Either will place it where you want.
HeyYou Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 I would have a read of the update instructions before just going ahead and doing it... Some updates require additional steps in addition to removing old/installing new..... It might be just that easy... but, best to know for sure. :D
