Cannot install new mods v1.6.0

So....

Check your notifications, pretty sure there is one telling you that .NET is missing with a "Fix" button to fix it.

No, I'm 100% sure that there is no "Fix" button shown in my Notifications tab. I had originally read about that in the v1.6 patch notes but had no idea what you meant, which makes sense now, ...cause its not in my notifications.

I have had no such notification and I am still unable to install new mods.

Perhaps it would be wise if the fix would be announced and or linked on the main nexus site

perhaps you could read the patch notes that tell you everything you need to know?

Yes already did my problem is still there. and since I see people are still reporting the same problem I have, it's clear more people are having this problem.

And mayby next time you could be so polite to open with a solution to something instead off just being rude and trying to be smart and saying:

first thing - don't panic.

just follow the instructions on the screen.

its painless.

what would you suggest i could add to that to make it better, given that the process is about 90% automated and you simply follow the on screen prompts?

i'm all ears.

1ae0bfb8, you seem abrasive maybe. I've read the patch notes and looked for the mentioned "Fix" button but it does not show up. I don't know who hurt you but...Thank you for trying to help...I guess?

I've updated to v1.6.1 but I still have the same problem (no Fix button in sight). I'm starting to think I'm crazy because I know there is no Fix button but Tannin says there is so idk. I can take screenshots if you need.
@Tannin should I just manually download the .NET 6? and if so, which one should I be looking at? SDK Windowsx64? Runtime Windowsx64?

that's your perspective of my words, nothing i can do or say about that. however, i'd suggest you look at the solutions and advice i've posted - they're more often than not correct.

if you go to the downloads page in your vortex - do you see anything there, waiting for an install?

Yes, in "Downloads" under the "Actions" column I have mods fully downloaded and ready for install. They produce the same error when attempting to install from the "Download" page.

If choosing the beta for any reason locks you into it forever, that's horrible design. You end up stuck when the beta is broken with no way back?

no, you don't, at all and it isn't a "horrible" design. you know what would be horrible? letting you download beta software, then letting you regress back to whatever the hell version you want to do and letting you completely destroy your environment. that is horrible design.

as has been pointed out so many times - if you don't have the minerals, or the setup to deal with beta software - don't choose beta software. no-one's arm was twisted.

Well the version on the official download page, is a beta version, So I don't think you can really blame many people for getting themselves in the beta when they didn't even really ask for it, or realize it.

Well, what have you tried? The error message you got said to review the log file. Did you? What did it say?

The dialog you said you get asked you to install .net with a "Yes" button that'd take you directly to the download page. Did you? Did it fix the problem?

Vortex needs the .NET 6 runtime to install mods correctly. You're supposed to get a notification inside Vortex, if for some reason (e.g. a prior broken install, a weird permission setup that I haven't come across yet) the check inside Vortex doesn't work you may have to get it manually.

If you can't use the button in the dialog, you can get it from here: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/runtime-6.0.6-windows-x64-installer
