Pickysaurus
Interesting, if that works then it means you're dotnet folder somehow has different permissions to your ProgramFiles folders.
smccardle3
fix the issue for me by taking ownership of the dotnet folder

KilldraxSteam
None of that worked. None! I have Win 10 upgraded from Win 7, Windows Update updated and I only managed to install NET 4.8.1. I cant install NET 6.0 due to error 0x80070661. Checked different versions, permissions, different installers (SDK, NET, Visual Studio) none worked and I cant install NET 6.0.I gave up and reverted to an older version of Vortex which is working fine and I can install mods to use on Fallout 4. If "none of that worked" it sounds like you might've not read the entire article. There's a final workaround at the bottom for users with really borked Windows installs. DarkAvengerDOA42
Returning player and same thing happening here. Ive ran multiple repairs and command prompts and nothing Ive tried wants to fix this error. Getting ready to use the sandbox fix! Very impressive! DarkAvengerDOA42
Solutions to this problem have been recorded on the wiki here: https://modding.wiki/en/vortex/users/dotnetNot seeing the solution here either. Im definitely reading it and have 8 different copies of 6.0.8 and various other ones and what I find really amusing is the mod itself wants another version entirely. 139 mods in fallout and Im ready to give up modding! Command Prompt only says access denied.. I made sure Im admin and still nothing Edited January 8, 2023 by DarkAvengerDOA42
streetyson
I'd like to thank you all for this thread from the bottom of my heart. I don't understand the half of it, and anyway I still mod manually (have always done so as I've been computer gaming since the 1980s and never found a mod manager worth the time & effort). But the next time some snivelling idiot presumes to tell me "absolutely no one should still be modding manually these days", why, instead of answering I can just provide a link to this latest typical total clustermuck. Of course, I dare not tell them that I'm still also on Windows 7 (or that it's still new to me as I was on XP until 2020) as that may confuse them, likely being from before they were born... showler
If you do tell them about this, make sure to tell them that it is Microsoft's clustermuck, not Nexus mods'.
Arti303e
Hello, first of all thank you very much for the alternative solutions discussed. However, none have worked for me :(((( I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 recently, and I have two program files folders, one of them C/Program Files and the other C/Program Files ( x86) (I think I have Steam on this one) Could this be the problem? Muchas gracias!
