Help old lady with mods please?

Ima playing the age card here. I'm 62 and have been using mods since Morrowind (ok, and Chris Beddoes mod for Arcanum). As the games have evolved so has the difficulty of getting mods to play nice together; Wrye Mash, Vortex, Mod Organizer, LOOT, Bethesda.net, Nexus, Steam, etc. ad nauseum. I usually spend 3 or 4 weeks trying to get mods installed before I can even play.

All of that to say I am wanting to start another run through of Fallout New Vegas. I found a list of mods here: https://gamerant.com/fallout-new-vegas-mods-make-feel-like-brand-new-game/

and there are some I would like to try.

Is there anyone out there who could give me an idea if the following would work together? If so, will they work with Steam versions or do I need to use the disks? What mod installer(s) would be best? I would sure appreciate someone helping me out. Thank you all!

Have a look at my previous post here. You're probably keen to get cracking into a game ASAP, but as F:NV is a bit....fragile...it needs some help to get it stable, especially if you intend on installing more than a few mods.

The 'mods to avoid' section of the Viva New Vegas (VNV) Guide recommends not using FCO and Project Nevada due to technical issues. There are ways to 'fix' those mods using other mods, but there's also standalone mods which are better alternatives and these are mentioned in the guide.

If you want to use TTW then the author of VNV has created a modding guide for that as well which is linked in the VNV guide.

Some mods aren't compatible with TTW or need a compatibility patch to work but some mod authors provide a compatibility patch or a compatible version of their mod. Sorry I can't provide much help here as I've never used TTW . However, there's lots of useful stuff here.

All mods work with the steam version and I would recommend using Mod Organizer 2 as your mod manager/installer for F:NV, mainly because most curated mod guides assume you're using it.

However, Vortex is a good option as well.

Post back if you need any further help, but following a mod guide is a good way to learn how to mod the game.

New Vegas Bounties should create troubles with Tale of Two Wasteland. NVB used old F3's assets which TTW use.

ALSO, if you are trying TTW, do NOT use Vortex. That mod manager wont be supported by TTW crowd. Learn to use Mod Organizer 2 instead.

Dont let Vortex crowd persuade you otherwise~ An user that can install and run TTW on Vortex is a super veteran~

  • 3 weeks later...
Well I got a game started. So far only the bus home mod isn't working correctly. I hadn't listed it because I have used it before with no problems. This time the uogrades aren't showing up at the Goodsprings General Store. All I got was the cleanup and tires. No idea why. Guess I'll uninstall it.
