IcelandicPsychotic
The "denying it" part wasn't directed at you, InDarkestNight. It's directed at anyone who doesn't think Nexus has a porn problem.
showler
I'm curious how many of the people who have seen images that violate the rules have reported said images and found that nothing was done?
JimboUK
This exists when uploading an image but few seem to use it. Maybe if the description was changed in some way to include images that aren't porn but really aren't safe for work people would use it more? with that set to yes people without adult content enabled can't see the image. The images I linked break more or less every single part of that warning. Even though the images don't include full-on nudity they are 100% intended to be pornographic. One persons 'porn' may be another persons 'notporn'..... and of course, there are always those that will use a VERY restrictive definition of 'porn' so that, essentially, NOTHING is porn.... or everything is..... On a site this size, if no one reports the image, there it stays....

Exactly, it's highly subjective and there is a difference between porn and tamer stuff that you still wouldn't want on the screen in a work environment, both of which need to be clearly defined so members know what is acceptable and what isn't, I think one of the issues is the tamer stuff hasn't been defined and I wouldn't want to be the one who had to do it. StormWolf01
Seeing the banner for the ACG reminded me of an issue that was waaay, way, way back in the day.I remember when it became a problem that peeps were posting screens containing nudity, and then using censor bars, photoshop effects, emoticons, etc etc to cover the naughty bits.Nope, that didn't fly. They still got their warnings, and if they didn't listen, they got a nice hammer print in the forehead. I know I've censored a few of my own images, that have gone into mod pages before. I do so out of courtesy, and respect. I don't want somebody to get in trouble for looking at one of my mods while they're at work. Or whatever. And I respect that people come to this site, and don't necessarily want to have that kind of stuff pop out at them. A lot of people don't have that tho.And there's a huge crowd that just want to push the boundaries as hard as they can, until their behavior becomes accepted. Report button is there. A better system isn't around right now. Or Yet.Make use of the ones we have.

But...some of the culprits have no idea what a work environment even is..... Don't get me wrong. I totally agree with you bro. I was just kinda highlighting on the "Needs to be clearly defined" aspect. But that's a sad truth. Some of them really honestly DON'T. Which is all the more reason for needing definition. And once that definition is in place, we need reliable translation. Throwing it out there in English doesn't do much for enforcing it against those who don't know English.

Yeah defining everything, explaining it and moderating it all would be a nightmare, it's made worse by the fact that people will always push the boundaries. I think the rules we have now are far from perfect but I'm yet to see anyone come up with anything better, people know what needs to be covered and staff can make an objective decision in an area which is largely subjective, are the red bits covered? no, goes in the bin, yes, stays, everyone knows where they stand. StormWolf01
Another difficulty that comes into play, is people understanding those terms, even if they're plainly written. (Assuming they even read it...)And a lack of even the most basic concept of law.Example: "Your account is being suspended. You've posted images, that were copyrighted, and violate the rules for adult content. For violating the theft of assets rule, and posting inappropriate materials, your account is hereby suspended for X number of days. A repeat violation will result in a permanent ban". "What are assets?" :wallbash:"And I didn't steal it, it was on the internet." :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: Ok so maybe that example doesn't entirely apply here. But the gist of it does. And pretty much anybody who has worked as staff in areas like this, have their own stories that go very similarly. Ok I think I'm rambling. Where was I? Oh. Yeah. I blame the Martians for all this. Damn those lil green men and their tentacle fetishes!
