I most likely will not use the block feature and most modders I know will not either, however I would use it for those cases I think are extreme enough to use it on... I DO however love to be able to block people from messaging me and keeping my threads nice and clean of silly arguments and issues.

It is great the "Block" feature is being introduced.

#1; it is only given the proven modders, so this will clamp down on modders abusing it.

#2; Lets not forget, I would think modders produce their mods not only for the betterment of the community, but also for their OWN enjoyment. If a modder [or a modders page] is being harrased [or trolled] by such offenders [trust me, there are a ton of these kinds of people here on the Nexus], then a modder should have the ability to choose who gets denied from their file. Why? Because it's their mod.

So what does this feature introduce? It will encourage users to be on their best behavior, and keep "snarky" comments to a minimum.

Hopefully, all the modders who have left the Nexus because of the "community" will reconsider coming back. :D

Just because we're on the internet doesn't mean we should behave like some sort of dystopian caste society where the lower class is treated worse than dirt.

True, but by the same token just because we're on the internet doesn't mean mod authors need to shut up and take anything users decide to sling their way either.

IMO, this new ability to delete comments and block access balances the equation out. Why? Because of this:

This exact thing is what eventually came to be on the Workshop after people realized that being snarky and/or a jerkwad would simply get them blocked from being able to say anything at all - AND blocked from being able to download the mod.

I get a TON of "constructive criticism" but 95% of it is nothing constructive and all personal opinion on my personal choices I consciously made as a modder.

I even put it on the front page first post and even have stickies on it, but people still feel they should say their "constructive criticism".

This is an absolutely terrible idea. All it will do is discourage commentary, lest someone is feeling particularly sensitive any given day, and encourages silent leeching.

I agree with the blocking of people. That kind of harsh punishment is does help keep the trouble down. What I do not like are the hidden comments. There are more than a couple of authors that go ballistic on users who report issues with their mods, even minor things like itm/udr and tweaked/broken navmeshes claiming that they are not really problems. I can see these sorts of comments being hidden when people should know about them. This is especially true of those who mod for popularity rather than for enjoyment.
