Stanhead Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 About the flood control. I find it quite irritating, especially as every time I try to post a message, it comes up saying I must wait 60 seconds between posts. But if I try to post a message and it tells me I have to wait, it seems to reset so I have to wait another 60 seconds. Might I suggest lowering the time users must wait between posts to 30 seconds?
Community Manager Dark0ne Posted March 14, 2005 Community Manager Posted March 14, 2005 It's there to stop people from posting one-liners. If you're able to post your first post, browse to another post, read through the post and post something then it's obviously got very little substance to it. People have already brought this up and it's been cast aside!
Stanhead Posted March 14, 2005 Author Posted March 14, 2005 But it's so annoying! I hate it when I have something helpful to add to the conversation and I have to wait. Can you atleast try to fix the fact that when I try to post again it resets the timer (so I have to wait up to 2 minutes to post). Or is that just me? I'll get my stopwatch...
Community Manager Dark0ne Posted March 14, 2005 Community Manager Posted March 14, 2005 *Dark0ne has memories of the MEO official forums, that had a 15 minute post timer. It made for some brilliant conversations and meant people had time to think about what they posted before they actually did.
CrazyGilbert Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 I think Dark0ne`s Last post quieted hi up *cries of the thought of waiting 15 minutes*
Abramul Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 For the Debates forum, 15 minutes might cultivate a far more interesting atmosphere.
Peregrine Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 Except when people are trying to post in multiple threads at once. Most of the time I'll have the contents of my reply in mind already, but have to wait to click the "post new reply" button to start writing the long essay. A minute is already annoying, having to wait 15 minutes before starting a new post would be inifinitely worse.
CrazyGilbert Posted March 14, 2005 Posted March 14, 2005 of course it would, if that Happened I would wonder how long I would last on these forums
Switch Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 A 15 minute timer? Someone actually did that? That's just sadism. :P I couldn't be bothered to post somewhere that went that far.
ThetaOrionis01 Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 Maybe we could have an inbuilt forum fatigue factor... with each post the flood control interval doubles. :D
