How do I set Vortex up to work with both editions of the game at the same time?

I know that they are technically the same game. But due to the different folder paths, I expected Vortex to have the ability to recognize the GoG install without sacrificing recognition of the Steam install.

I do not want to mess up the current setup for the Steam install. All the 'help' I have located has recommended manually changing the game's location. This unfortunately, does not create a separate managed game but rather modifies the existing managed game to become the other game.

This might work. AFAIK, the only difference between the two versions is the .exe. So, you could make separate profiles for STEAM and GOG. And when you switch profiles, manually change the exe to whichever one corresponds to which platform version you are using.

I had thought about that. But that would be prone to error due to having to go in and change the game's location every single time.

Given that my current purpose is to merely test how some of my own mods interact with the added AE portions, being able to keep things separate in MO2 works well enough.

Actually, that's not what I am saying. I meant have one installation but two exe's that you can swap in and out when changing profiles in Vortex. But if you have something that works, then that is what matters.
