Mod changed on disk with restart of Vortex

When I restart Vortex, a mod disappears and is flagged by Vortex.  image.png.de57c0d733c7b1b3736567b1eaa01708.png

I obtained this mod from afkmods at this url:  https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/files/file/2553-wip-shalidors-maze/   I reported the issue to the mod author but he insists that it is a Vortex bug and he won't do anything about it.  He says that I should report it here.

My workaround is to add the mod back in every time using "Install from file" in Vortex after I hit "Apply Changes" in the above dialog box.  I have attached the mod below for you to try.

The other odd thing about this mod is that the title of it doesn't show up in Vortex; only the file name appears.  image.png.0043b85f374a1ad36c24d209e0483f8b.png

Don't know if this is related to the disappearing mod issue or not.

This mod is for Skyrim Special Edition.

I can confirm that it is related specifically to the __double_underscore at the start of the archive name.

After fixing that on your local downloaded archive outside of Vortex, you'll want to manually delete the dropped mod in Staging folder bc it doesn't actually get removed. Maybe Vortex doesn't jive with double underscore bc that's what __vortex_staging_folder uses or something.

I removed and deleted archive using Vortex, then I did "Install From File" with the renamed "Shalidors_Maze.7z" (underscores removed).  Then I quit Vortex and restarted it and the mod was still there.  Now the only question is:  Will it still work?   Well when I restarted Skyrim and tried to continue, it reported that the mod with underscores was gone and when I continued from there it gave me a CTD.   When I started a new game, it did not CTD and I made a beeline to the maze and saw that the renamed mod worked just like the original.  So I'm good to go.  Thanks for your help.

They named the ESP file that way too?

That's a bit insane, really.

edit: I doubt you needed to rename the ESP file, though.  The problem was likely with the folder that is created using the archive name.  Changing that would probably be enough.

As the creator of the Mod in question (https://creations.bethesda.net/en/skyrim/details/41423/_WIP__Shaildor_s_Maze and https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/files/file/2553-wip-shalidors-maze/&tab=comments#comment-2375), I submit that the problem is indeed in Vortex.  Please fix Vortex so that it is tolerant of file names which are within the criteria of normal file naming standards.

Furthermore, I request that the attachment be removed from the Posting by @cmd673 (https://forums.nexusmods.com/topic/13474412-mod-changed-on-disk-with-restart-of-vortex/), as the mod has been uploaded to NexusMods in violation of the terms of service for the mods.

Hey

I’ve removed the attachment and I’ll make a ticket for the underscore issue so we can take a look.

Thanks!

Thank you.  Please provide a ticket number for those of us who are stake holders in the resolution of this issue.
