I rarely browse the Vortex forum here, since I don't use Vortex.  But today I did, and saw this thread:

Someone had a problem; they'd downloaded SoS off Lovers Lab, but Vortex was mistaking it for something from an apparently-unrelated mod on Nexus.

Pickysaurus solved the mystery -- a case of mod theft was confusing Vortex:

Not something I expected to find in a troubleshooting thread! 😆

Glad to be of service 😄

Well, as I got personaly burned by trying to help him (in a thread "What would I need to upgrade to get more performance out of Skyrim?"), I realized why others began to avoid him like a plague. Although not evil or something this guy simply can't do anything right and in his rage he blames everyone else instead of himself. As I was named troll and liar (normaly I wouldn't care, but on a world wide forum?) in the end, I promised to ignore him completely and I kept this promise until the end.

Sorry for my rambling, but I have still bitter memories whenever I see this nick. I promise I will not speak about him anymore.

After reading this, I'm kind of glad I never finished formulating a reply on his Minecraft help topic. Sounds like no matter what help he'd been given, he would have just shot it down aggressively. Sadly, people like that can't be helped. In the rant that earned him the ban, he complained that he was always being ignored. Perhaps that was why. No one wants to spend time helping a person just to be shot down for the effort.

On a serious note philosophically, it reminds me of a story someone told me at the end of an Aikido class 37ish years ago.

A man walks up to a temple priest and says, "I wish to donate this bag of gold." He then hands the bag to the priest who then takes it and walks away.

Stunned, the man calls out, "Wait, aren't you going to thank me!?"

The priest pauses, turns around and says, "It is you who should thank me."

One does not need to be thanked for helping.  The act is its own reward. However, if one is aggressive and hostile to offers of help, just ignore them and don't offer it to them anymore.

Exactly my point - if he reacted aggressively to any offers of help, then it's no wonder he was being ignored (which seemed to be his main grievance at that point.). He'd clearly burnt more than a few who tried to assist him.

I had a friend who was like this. I loved her and all because she was sweet in any other situation. However, she would ask for help with something and then act hostile and aggressive whenever I tried to do anything. I stopped being friends with her when she called me something I dare not repeat because I will probably get banned. I just made my account, and I really don't want to screw this up.

I'm just watching these out of curiosity

Those appear to be just test bans. If you'll notice, there aren't any relevant links to where the offense occurred and they were all given by the moderator clarkey022... and of course, the very telling Reason for the ban: Test.

Sure. This especially caught my eye because there aren't many examples like this, and most of the other examples have more than "Reason: Test".

See also the "PaddleTest" ones from a few months ago -- when the Nexus admins were still setting up Paddle as their new payment provider, and probably wanted to make sure everything got canceled properly if a paid user got banned.

(They've been mentioned in this thread before.)
