Warnings and Site Ban Theater

Occasionally I like to peruse the latest and greatest on the Formal Warnings and Bans thread. Some of the daft stuff people do amuses me. Homophobic rants, inciting folks to kill themselves, getting banned for one account then create a new account, under the same IP obviously because they got banned again. That last one cracks me up! Some real dirt bags and idiots find their way here, by the way.

Some of the inappropriate usernames that are attempted are quite hilarious as well. That is, if your cringe factor is not very high. Mine isn't. You don't know how much I yearn to give you some examples, but alas, I may get banned too. I like it here so I'll refrain... for now.

That's it and thanks for reading.

Ban forum became less entertaining when the bot took over.

Previously the moderators/staff would occasionally unleash some hilarious sarcasm in the posts.

Damn, I missed those as it was only recently that I started browsing the thread. Stupid AI takes the humanity out of everything. With advances in technology come drawbacks, I suppose.

I don't really spend much time worrying about who gets banned or for what, that's their business, not mine. I just try to keep my nose clean and move on a in a civil way around the Nexus. It's easier that way.

That's fine. I can respect that but you're really missing out on some good comedy.

I think if you're just linking to ban threads you found amusing that's fine.

I'm not going to be linking to any of the posts. That's not what I'm doing here. I'm just expressing my amusement. Don't overthink it, Pickysaurus.

Indeed, like insulting mod authors for their st00p1d mods, instead of just, ya know, moving along to find mods they'll actually like? *smh*

Most of us mod authors have made our mods primarily for ourselves and our own tastes, and shared them in case others might want them.  We're not expecting everyone to like them in their game.  And frankly I'm just pleased that anyone has downloaded and liked mine -- and bonus if they've left positive and/or constructive comments! 😀

Right. Those folks annoy me. I get where some of them are coming from though. For instance, a while back I seen a user insult a mod author for releasing a mod with bad grammar and numerous typos. While that's something I abhor as well, I'd be more prone to offer some constructive criticism rather than an outright insult. But that's me. Insulting folks will derail your attempts at inter-personal relations every time... and get you banned! Hah! They'll learn... or not.

Yeah some of those are very amusing. I also learned a lot from those post, like the super important fact that a game called "Summer Car" is apparently being "illegally copied" very frequently. And that there exist abbreviations for nasty sentences that I, as a non-english speaker didn't know about before and would never have guessed what they meant if coming accross  them somewhere in the comments.

And keeping with the topic of being a non-english speaker; those userenames can be quite tricky for me as well. About 5 times out of 10, I think "inappropriate userename? Why?". I  then  read that username out loud and "......... oh, ooohhhhh!". And about 1 in 10 I just don't get it, full stop. 😆
