Mod Browsing Overhaul Discussion

I have to feel for the staff, especially those who respond out-of-office hours, that only has the power to forward feedback. I have been frustrated over a year, knew this was coming and even bowed out of Nexus, back just because I was PM'd about this post, and this is the only opportunity to provide feedback since a year ago. When this post is locked you will really know frustration. So I recommend to provide more and as much constructive and compromised based feedback; over straight up frustration and venting posts—as they may be seen as just hostility and dismissed and might get this post closed faster.

Well, I'll mention now before it is locked that I very much enjoyed bonding over a shared factual disgust of the work created by "professional UX devs" and mismanagement.

You all now have a special place in my heart.

I really despise that they lock posts after they are done listening (especially when they lock new posts made about feedback after the closure), it is just reality X /

I hate it...i really do.... it was fine the way it was...i liked how simple it was before now there like more everywhere in a bad way.... also keep in mind people using nexus likely have multiple tabs open on nexus as they test and install mods... so lower load weight the better.
maybe there some useful new features... but "dont fix it if its not broke"

.... though I am seeing this more and more alot of mods I have found or should be able to find wont show up. not sure if mods are getting booted off, or just not showing up under keywords  so think that needs fixed more.

Please do give examples of what text you searched for, and the mods you know to exist that were not found as you expected. That helps us improve the search.

I tried to use it last night, but especially on the game pages its incredibly frustrating to have huge tiles for the trending/collection sections.  Instead of promoting the mods/collections, it feels like spam I need to scroll past to actually get to the content.   I'll probably create links so I can jump straight to the /mods page to avoid trending mods/collections.

In the meantime I have found a Stylus theme to revamp the main game pages to resize the page/remove all the padding.  That is probably the opposite of what NexusMods wants, but its worth saying here (if this won't get removed) as its a sign of how unusable the 'overhaul' is for me.

Browsing Trending Mods feels really awkward, now you have filters on the left side while scrolling down mods on the right side.

I have no idea whats the new appeal of a games main page anymore. Everything looks the same in terms of size, i have no idea whats what in each section anymore. It feels simultainously really cramped and and very empty at the same time.

As some user said it in this thread already, all decisions made in the new layout remind me of windows 8. Very blocky and stilistic but not user friendly at all.

I saw some users say this was made with phone/tablets in mind (it does look some mobile app ngl), at least provide a different option  for pc users. I mean having multiuple layout options for the same website is nothing new...right?

Count me as one more person that hates the new UI. Why does a 1080p window only show four mod listings now. Why does a 1440p window only show eight? This redesign is a usability decline, I feel like I'm drowning now.

There certainly are some negative (and rude!) reactions to it, but feedback over all channels has not been negative overall. I know we can all place our own weight on which channels of communication are more important, and I know some people will flat out not believe me- but it actually is the case.

Of course that doesn't mean we aren't going to be improving things where needed. 😀

All I'm getting from this is "we're going to ignore all further feedback because we hallucinated positive feedback in larger quantities than the negative". Not like I didn't expect it though. This is peak enshittification. Please back up your claim of "not negative overall" with tangible statistics that will also get torn to shreds.

As said here, mfPixel said that accessibility was chosen for colour theme, and when I confronted why... one accessibility group to see better was priority... over another group that it causes discomfort/pain for—it wasn't addressed. They had a year to mull that over, and as you mentioned that in this post only the accessibility group to see better was priority is still only considered... and not the group that the high contrast causes discomfort/pain for. So IMHO this still means it is still not in consideration... even a year later.

I remember this being a rather big issue/discussion.  However, didn't Nexus ultimately change the Black Hole Black text area with bright White text to what we have now?  Granted, I don't like black or dark mode and it's still Black Hole Black on more grey now, but it did provide some relief.  There was one member who was legally blind in the beta discussion.  Her best view of the forum was Black Hole black on white text.

Ideally, it would be great for users to be able switch from dark to light.

The issue of the website design centering around accommodating phones has also changed some; believe me it started out quite a bit more phone-ish centric then it even is now.
