Mod Browsing Overhaul Discussion

We need a non-popup poll, on the website, on the forums, reddit and discord. One that's in your face and straight to the point so that people don't miss it. I believe the new results that actually have more than just the few who stuck around the beta would have very telling results.

Obviously BUILT-IN. It's not hard to code a poll.

“The polls have been available in the local planning office for the last nine months.”

“Oh yes, well, as soon as I heard I went straight round to see them, yesterday afternoon. You hadn’t exactly gone out of your way to call attention to them, had you? I mean, like actually telling anybody or anything.”

“But the polls were on display . . .”

“On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”

“That’s the display department.”

With a flashlight.”

“Ah, well, the lights had probably gone.”

“So had the stairs.”

“But look, you found the polls, didn’t you?”

“Yes, yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.’”

He may be gone, but Douglas Adams is alive and well in our hearts. Shame this is the bit that had to be relevant.

They are reading this, and reddit, and discord, and polls feedback. There have been replies from various staff on all those channels. There will be continued comms on this I am quite sure.

No one at NexusMods has said 40% is more than 60%, that's nonsensical. 😃

Desktop is the focus, as that's where most of the usage comes from. Mobile users account for 40% of the site usage, and so they are also accounted for.

Reading is one thing. But assuring the community and implementing the option is another.

Only time will tell.. If it dosent happen. it just proves the many statements of me and many others right.

But then again even if i got it right. Im just one lone long time user.

Oh right, the polls on a third party website that is automatically blocked by many ad-blockers due to its data harvesting services. That was actually a (small) point of discussion within the first few pages of this thread, was that a bunch of people couldn't even load up the polls because the entire website was getting blocked by their adblockers.

They said that the hotjar polls maxed out the number of responses.  So clearly people were seeing it.

So unless you're going to claim a correlation between "people who hate the new site" and "people who have adblockers that prevented them from seeing the hotjar poll" then there is no reason to believe the hotjar polls were skewed in any way.

Yes, I remember seeing a pop-up on the first day or so when the Beta was launched. It covered 3/4 of my screen asking whether I liked the new interface... what interface? I could see nothing because of the poll. I then hovered my mouse over it wondering what to do, but before I could click anything, it vanished. Then I saw the GUI, but the poll was already gone so I could not give it the zero stars that it deserved! I wonder what the default answer was?

Personally I'd say the correlation is closer to "people who are tech savvy enough to use basic protection in web browsing" and "people who didn't answer a poll hosted by a service that exists to gather their data for advertising purposes", but we both know you weren't going to give this discussion anything resembling a fair response so why bother with the pretenses?

Edit: Seriously. By using Hotjar for their data gathering they basically admitted that their data is skewed towards people whose browsers would have looked like this twenty years ago:

"Drab Gray"

That is the new site color theme. Everywhere.

Just like IRL!

"Thank" you so much for destroying one of the last websites I actually enjoyed coming to.

I'm so glad I didn't actually pay money for a premium membership.
