This Midnight Special episode was taped and broadcast in December 1975, after the live material on his Frampton Comes Alive album was recorded (6/75-11/75) but before it was released in Jan. 76.

If anyone is wondering what's wrong with the audience, the answer is nothing. This is a taping of a TV show, not a concert. The audience was there for free and specifically told to remain quiet and seated until after the performances. It made editing much easier when multiple takes were required. Not even seats were provided to them for the same reason, to minimize background noise. The goal was to provide the best experience for home viewers, not the studio audience.

Another episode of the same show, from the same era. This was either the or one of the first 45's I ever bought and I had no clue who the band was. Years later I learned Focus started as the pit band for the stageplay "Hair" in the Netherlands, and Jan Akkerman was considered one of the best guitarists in the world at the time. His 6-string sweep toward the end of this clip is the earliest I've seen in any video, I get goosebumps every time I watch it. Although van Leer imo looks like the love child of Joe Cocker and Worf:

Glad to see someone else posting Tatyana Rhyzkova, she's an amazing classical guitarist. Found her through Bach's Cello Suite No. 1, BMV 1007, Prelude.

Anyway,

One more from Fallon, as Bob Dylan:

This one's not quite as funny overall imo, but the bit at 1:54 makes me shoot whatever I'm drinking right out of my nose every time I watch it.

Note to self: when hiring background dancers for a music video, make sure they actually have dancing experience.

Between chicken dance lady, Mr. Blue Jacket (who appears to be nailed to the dance floor) etc, the unintentional comedy here is off the charts imo. I can't watch without thinking of the Peanuts Gang. Every character has a match in this group.

This was nominated for an Academy Award and also won an Emmy, but in case you've never seen it:

I recommend listening to the interview first, without the video. I still marvel at the hootzpa of this 14 year-old kid, not only for sneaking into a hotel room, but then telling John Lennon to his face that you don't really care for George Harrison. :D
