The second half of this concert is great imo:

Full concert here, it's one of the cleanest Youtube video transfers I've ever seen. It's cleaner than our original DVD:

Here's the second best 3-minute stress reducer I've ever found:

This is a compilation from the same show, including Old Friends and the wonderful (imo) Bookends before Scarborough Fair:

NOTE: all the same song, aka same writer, one "fernando sor" who brought into existence the guitar from lute, fought in the napoleonic wars in 1808 and another link in the chain is francisco tarrega ( died in 1909 a guy who's dad got him to play because he almost went blind and a blind musician can still make a living and he learned from two blind tutors) - but they all play it slightly differently and if you have a keen ear it comes across like a different song in a lot of ways
tatyana rhyzkova (favourite version)

yepes (3rd favourite)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg_xlyPoTV4
andres segovia (second favourite) - figured I'd give poor yepes the 2nd video thumbnail spot because segovia is literally considered the father of the classical/spanish guitar (the thing we usually think of when we think guitar) and yepes gets overshadowed lol
segovia almost got to learn from tarrega but tarrega died after accepting him but before he could teach, mostly segovia was self-taught

julian bream

mmm really just discovered them tonight and have been listening to variants since, you really need to check out spanish guitarists playing stuff related to classical music, it was actually made for that originally, and it sounds pretty good often, segovia playing bach, yepes playing "Fernando Sor 24 Etudes" is also nice

anderson miolin also brings an interesting sort of sound to the song as well, a kind of "stringed instrument form antiquity" vibe to his, I'm biased in favour of warmer tones so he's kind of a 4th with bream but considering this is comparing top talent across a century or more it's no insult

This Midnight Special episode was taped and broadcast in December 1975, after the live material on his Frampton Comes Alive album was recorded (6/75-11/75) but before it was released in Jan. 76.

If anyone is wondering what's wrong with the audience, the answer is nothing. This is a taping of a TV show, not a concert. The audience was there for free and specifically told to remain quiet and seated until after the performances. It made editing much easier when multiple takes were required. Not even seats were provided to them for the same reason, to minimize background noise. The goal was to provide the best experience for home viewers, not the studio audience.

Another episode of the same show, from the same era. This was either the or one of the first 45's I ever bought and I had no clue who the band was. Years later I learned Focus started as the pit band for the stageplay "Hair" in the Netherlands, and Jan Akkerman was considered one of the best guitarists in the world at the time. His 6-string sweep toward the end of this clip is the earliest I've seen in any video, I get goosebumps every time I watch it. Although van Leer imo looks like the love child of Joe Cocker and Worf:

Glad to see someone else posting Tatyana Rhyzkova, she's an amazing classical guitarist. Found her through Bach's Cello Suite No. 1, BMV 1007, Prelude.

Anyway,

One more from Fallon, as Bob Dylan:

This one's not quite as funny overall imo, but the bit at 1:54 makes me shoot whatever I'm drinking right out of my nose every time I watch it.

Note to self: when hiring background dancers for a music video, make sure they actually have dancing experience.

Between chicken dance lady, Mr. Blue Jacket (who appears to be nailed to the dance floor) etc, the unintentional comedy here is off the charts imo. I can't watch without thinking of the Peanuts Gang. Every character has a match in this group.
