How do you feel about the skyrim modding community?

Just like to hear your opinions. I know a lot of people say it's awful because more trolls (though honestly it just seems like a more users = more trolls x ThisIsTheInternet thing to me), but I doubt it's all negative.

So what do you think of the community here? The good AND the bad. I'm a somewhat newer modder, and only released some very small mods for Oblivion after Skyrim had been released, so I don't know the difference between OB's modding community vs Sky's.

Anyway: What do you think?

I think this kind of thread creates more drama in an already drama llama subforum.

What do you mean by modding community? The mod makers or the Nexus community as a whole?

The bad apples in mod maker community are pretty much driven out of here and they are now in tumblr writing mean posts about Nexus and its people, and sharing their work in a tumblr mod portal (lol).

edit: I don't see many trolls, I dunno where this comes from. Just block ungrateful people and move on?

I've been in the ES community since 2001 and I would always argue this is the case. I think some people have let their nostalgia cloud their vision of what the modding communities for Morrowind/Oblivion were really like. We had plenty of drama then, too.

I've released a few mods for Oblivion and a couple for Skyrim and I don't see any difference between the two communities, for the most part the Skyrim community is the Oblivion community just moved a step forward.

As for the experience of releasing, the difference would be the magnitude. Skyrim means many more downloads and endorsements, like Oblivion on steroids.

For me the community means the mod makers, not the people who are exclusively mod users. But even with the users I don’t see much difference, they have treated me consistently well. I’ve always felt that if you go out of your way to provoke people and abuse them then you should expect that to come back to you. On the other hand if you try to treat people with respect you will usually get that back in return.

It’s not always easy, sometimes you need to step back from it and just try to relax and not take it all so seriously. And remember, modding is supposed to be fun.

Modding is supposed to be fun.

Exactly. I don't know, I've never noticed much difference myself, though my mods for Oblivion were small and not successful so it's likely I didn't get any bad attention because of that. I was just curious about your guys' thoughts because I've never found the same.

I have not seen much negativity, though i have seen some people claiming that my mods break their game when i clearly warn them not to use it "if this & that" or "not compatible with...." in my subscription, other than that i have little bad experience here. Steam workshop is another story, i ended up removing my mods there, people made demands, as stated earlier in this thread modding is supposed to be fun and we don't get paid for it. The only place i've seen get a lot of heat here is the adult section of mods.

In totall im VERY satisfied with people here on nexus, most modders are helpful and users are mostly fair and forthcoming.

I'm fairly new to modding. I started 2012 I think. I like it. People are respectful and they provide decent insight. Also, the forums are more or less well-moderated from what I've experienced. I've had one troll experience, I think from my GEMS mod, but it doesn't grow into a tumor as long as the troll is ignored.

On the flip-side, sometimes it's hard to get attention when you need it. Posts get buried fast here, though I guess that's just indicative of the content and the number of posts all the time.
