Lol, don't know if you get the point of monkeyboi's comment InuyashaFE. All of tamriel rather than a province. :P

I suppose, but don't you think it would be better if they focused on one province, instead of spreading themselves thin all across the continent?

Or went to an all-new continent. :woot:

Haha, well to be honest, if they were to spend 10 years making an awesome game called TES ???: Tamriel I would definitely buy it XD. It would take at least 10 years to make a game about the entire continent I bet, for it to be good at least.

Only problem is if they spent all that time on the game, they would be out of business...and if they tried to cram it to fit their current production cycle, that means a LOT of the space would be auto-generated content...unlike a lot of the content in Skyrim being hand-crafted.

I think they are doing fine for what they are releasing so far. However, it would definitely be cool if a game was released that merged all prior work into a single game...but even that would not be practical since they are using different game engines and the quality of the assets increases with each successive game.

[ BEGIN PIPE DREAM ] Imagine how cool it would be if Bethesda orchestrated a major overhaul similar to how Unique Landscapes was done where Bethesda generates the huge landmass of Tamriel and all the providences and then creates virtual spaces where community mod teams would then take their designated cells and start creating content for it. The 1st pass would be the addition of flora and once that is complete, the 2nd pass would be fauna, 3rd pass architecture, 4th pass NPCs and quests. The end-result being all of Tamriel. Then it could be opened up to all other modders to add other content such as additional quests, weapons, armors, creatures, etc. It would all have to be done on a game engine that would stand the test of time like Oblivion has...because quite frankly, this would take years to complete. [ / END PIPE DREAM ]

Yes, one of the reasons I refer to it as a pipe dream. Part of it is also sponsorship by Bethesda so it could be packaged into a mod that could be rolled out on the consoles as well. It is something they want to do but have no idea on how to implement such logistics.

Todd Howard mentioned this and a few of the high-level issues such as impact to savegames and such but I feel a MAJOR part of it is user-generated content and permissions surrounding it. Let's say I create a helmet and add it to the repository to be included in this massive mod. What happens after release when it is discovered that the helmet I created was actually stolen from Ghogiel...or ripped from another game and is now in a Bethesda mod. There is NOTHING in place to prevent such a situation from happening and I don't see how they can protect themselves from it unless they only allow plugin-only files...which would defeat the purpose.

Not much would happen anyway. this is a free mod yes? What am I going to claim even if it went to court? emotional trauma damages?

Anyone can steal and use any modders non comercial assets and there is rarely the money and spare time investment to, in the end only enforce a take-down order... if this theif lives in your country.. or you can just quit your job and moveto where he lives.. if you find out.. apply for residency, then file a civil action in their court... Yeah impossible. You can steal what ever you want and because there is no money involved, there is nothing to be gained in pursuing it.. Unless they are selling it... and making good money.. they you can claim those profits...if you can get into a court room with them..

But yeah basically. I heard you might be able to damage the hardware on the xbox by over heating it with something like what a big TES mod would do. huge meshes, phat textures, lots of clutter, AI, Modders would have the same development restrictions as BGS themselves when creating content. Which again defeats a lot of mods, which intentionality operate outside of the restrictions of the vanilla game

Anyway... here is a thought, free open mod market... on the xbawks. Just like PC. I know, M$ will never let it happen, the internet is for porn and xbl is for M$.

So angry right now... :wallbash: Bethesda pisses me off very much right now. They didn't accept any of the dates I asked for and pushed the date back to November after the release. I still want to go, but I was hoping it would be this summer while the game was still in production. Well, I don't know what date in november I'll be going now, I just have to wait for Make A Wish Foundation to call Bethesda and find out what days they are willing to have me come in.

P.S. Is Angry! Om nom nom!

They told make a wish that they are too busy and would have a great experience for me after the game is released. Either way, if I go after its released likely I'll get a copy of skyrim or a special edition of it perhaps. Well anyways, I suppose I could still give them some dlc ideas, if anybody has any. It will be too late to have them make a character of me in the initial release unfortunately, if they were to do that they would probably have to do it in a dlc. Stealt equals the next evil mastermind that pops up in dlc XD
