Ported content has never been an issue

Dear Nexus Forums,

Over the course of years since approximately 2010, which is when I started playing Bethesda Games, I have not once seen a conflict with ported content. I've seen numerous things from real food and drink products, other video game characters, real life buildings and locations and not once have I ever seen a major conflict.

I don't think Bethesda even minds, to be honest. Why, just look at this mod:

I love ported content and I never want it to disappear.

Just because you don't see a problem doesn't mean one doesn't exist. And yes, Bethesda does mind. They've said so repeatedly.

Ported content is, for the most part, highly illegal. It falls under the realm of copyright infringement in most cases (except where there is verifiable permission to port objects from that game to another) Bethesda doesn't condone porting and doesn't allow any assets from their vanilla games to be ported between any of their other games.

Well, I haven't seen them do anything about it. I honestly don't believe you. And if that's how you think, you're basically saying any and all kinds of modding is illegal.

@DrakeTheDragon I already read it aeons ago. I happen to be stating my opinion.

Doesn't really matter if you believe it or not. Bethesda does mind. They do not allow porting of content between their games. Period.

As for the rest, Dark0ne makes the rules on this site and if something does not meet the Terms of Service it gets removed as soon as the staff is aware of it. I moderated this site for several years and removed more illegal content than I can recall. The rules have always been clear about permissions and I have been here since Feb of 2008. If you don't know about this then you have not been paying attention.

If someone has permission to port something from another game (like the Witcher stuff for example) it is welcome here. If someone does not have proper permissions then it is not welcome.

No one cares what you do in your own house in your own game. You can port content til the end of days. You just can't share it here if you don't have permission.

This is Dark0ne's house. You don't like someone's house rules, go play somewhere else.

EDIT: Ninja'd by the site owner!!

I've been on the modding scene a long time. I was there when Oblivion came out and everyone wanted to port Morrowind into it - and Bethesda said "no." You don't even have to take my word for it, it's pretty much out there for anyone that's willing to do a search but go ahead and be willfully delusional if you want to, it risks nothing for anyone else but yourself if/when you do something because you think it's honky dory and find out it's not.

I'll be happy to do the "toldya so" dance just for you

Distributing assets without consent is copyright infringement, it's no different to sharing music or movies. What game companies do about that infringement varies, most don't care but Bethesda do when it's ported into a different game and they've got a reputation for being litigious.
