The new design

I have to agree that whille I don't mind the new design, I mean everthing new takes some getting used to, it just definitely does not feel 'finished'.

1) Absolutely HATE the menu's floating up in a graphic, makes it feel like they arent positioned correctly and had to find/see.

2) The description/files/images/commetns/etc... are horrible icons with numbers beneath them positioned in an odd place. Then when I scroll over them a title for the icon pops up below, just feels sloppy.

3) Can anyone else read any comments? All the other tabs work as they are supposed to but when I select the comments section nothing appears! Can't read a comment I made earlier today or the reply I am waiting for! What gives with that?

4) Don't really like the new endorsement method or where it is positioned, feels like its hiding or unrelated, but suppose I could get used to it.

on the flip side...

1) I like the other mods by that author being shown to the left, If i like an authors mod I often look for others by them.

2) The new images area above the info is nice, can easily scroll thru them without going to the tab.

3) The files list is cleaner, thats one area where I think there is an actual improvement, can see more files at once. However how they are arranged, alphabetically, is illogical. Should be by upload date or newest first.

4) I actually kind of like the layout look, just seems you've placed items/menues, as i mention, in odd places, just isn't at all ergonomic.

Overall I certainly hope this isnt a final product and fix the damn comments already!!!

Please...for the love of all that is holy...bring back the old design. I don't like having to edit the URL to go to page 75 or whatever of a category, and I can't even look at the comments. I can't start a download and continue looking for mods while it downloads because the download screen is now opened in the MAIN WINDOW, instead of a convenient tab. The new layout and design is giving me a headache...just please bring back the old one... Edited by danaw167

... i like the old version too ...

i am using IE8 and the new version does not work ... most of the function bars overlap each other ... all those "file" "image" "comment" buttons hv no reponse ...

It was mentioned before that the site would no longer support IE7. I would assume then that support for most versions of IE (which is a very old browser, even it its updated versions) are not supported well either. I would highly suggest moving away from a browser that isn't supported by many sites (and has a ton of bugs to boot), try Firefox or Chrome.

I agree, page selection should come back, that was a nice feature, and pretty standard on most sites (though I never use it myself). Also, you can close or navigate away from the download page once a download starts you know. Though I do agree that the main tab being taken over by the download page is a horrendously annoying feature.

On my own, another features I noticed that is annoying is the fact that the javascripts highjack my right click on pictures and file download links. That code should be removed. I highly dislike websites that highjack my functionality.

I don't mind the new design, it's just that I can't download any files.

EDIT: Nevermind, you just can't go to other tabs until the pop-up thing appears at the stop of the screen.

EDIT 2: Nevermind again, you just can't go to other tabs until it starts downloading.

I don't give a crap about the design change. I'll get used to it. What I won't get used to is not being able to download a damn thing because nothing I click on works!

Are you blocking scripts? Nothing worked for me, either, until I started allowing outside servers one at a time until I found a combination that worked. I don't remember which server it was, though; sorry about that. I use NoScript, and once you've allowed scripts you don't get a list of them anymore. At the moment the only server I don't allow on Nexus is quantserve.com. The company which owns this domain, Quantcast, came under fire, including legal action, a year ago for implementing "zombie cookies" (flash cookies which resurrect themselves even after being deleted). I don't trust this company and they are a data-mining firm that collects any and all personal information they can get about people and store it in a data base. I think that says enough about why not to enable any scripts which involve them. The rest should be safe enough.

Oh, and the more I'm using the new interface the more I'm beginning to absolutely hate the color scheme. Whoever thought that white text on an orange background was acceptable, anyway? Or, for that matter, orange text on a dark grey background. Lose ... the ... orange! Some of us with certain visual impairments can't read this easily -- and I'm one of them. Sure, I can highlight that stuff, and then I get blue on a white background, which is just as bad. I can deal with light text on a dark background, although that's hardly my preference. Very dark grey text on a very light grey background works for just about everyone's eyes. Stick with the lowest common denominator and you really can't go wrong.

I will say, in spite of all the hate that this new design is amassing, that I like the image preview function and the "More from the uploader" section. I still wish, though, that the page took up my entire screen space, rather than compressing everything into a narrow ribbon in the middle. That's still the deal-breaker for me.

Annnnnnnd another one for the unhappy user pile.

I'd be interested to see who else likes to browse a site by right-clicking a link and saying "open in new tab", then going through those tabs at their leisure. I can't even surf the net the way I want to anymore; thanks for joining the ranks of the Evil Ones with this design.
